Photoshop Elements :: Access To Bonus Backgrounds / Graphics In PSE 7?

Nov 13, 2013

How can I gain access to bonus backgrounds, graphics, etc in Adobe PSE 7 if Photoshop.com services have been shut down? I have been using the bonus backgrounds and such from Photoshop.com for several years to design Christmas cards for my photography clients. Now, my Photoshop.com membership doesn't exist, so I can't use those backgrounds and graphics. Is there a way to go around this or to gain access to those bonus items?

Photoshop :: CS5 Versus Elements For Digital Art Creation And Layers?

Nov 24, 2013

I'm using Photoshop Elements 10.    If I want to use Photoshop with digital art (paintings mostly) and want to do touch up work and move elements of paintings into multiple layers, what extra features does Photoshop have that would benefit this application?

And what features are in Photoshop Creative Cloud, and CS6, versus CS5?   I do want to save some money and CS5 might be quite sufficient for my amateur uses.

Photoshop Elements :: How To Use Layers To Edit Digital Photos

Feb 1, 2014

I'm still having a difficult time understanding how to use layers to edit digitial photos in photoshop. Based on every tutorial I've tried, I have found a common theme: the best way to edit photos is by creating copies of the original image and making different types of edits to each copy and then merging these edited copies into one final image that reflects all the edits combined. I have been lead to believe that the reason for making copies of the original image is so that edits can be made to each individual "layer" and not to the original photo. This way the edited layers can be compared to the untouched original to make sure everything looks the way its supposed to. Here is what is frustrating me to death. No matter how many "layers" I create of my original image, every edit I make shows up in every other layer I create along with the original. I thought that any edits I make to the active layer are only supposed to show up on that layer and no where else. Is this true? If so, how do I set up my editor so that the edits I make only show up in the layer I am actually working on? It seems to me if the edits I make are going to always show up in every layer I have created, and in the orignal image, then there is no point in using layers at all when I edit my photos.

Photoshop Elements :: How To Use Layers To Edit Digital Photographs

Jan 31, 2014

I am having trouble figuring out how to use layers to edit digital photographs. Based on the online tutorials I've viewed, I'm under the impression that in order to edit parts of a photograph without affecting the original background image, I am supposed to create a layer for each set of edits I want to make and then merge these layers together to form a complete edited image with all the touch ups I want to make. I am also under the impression that any edits I make to the layers I create should not be showing up in the original background image, otherwise I have no way of comparing the original to the edited parts of the image to see if everything looks the way I want. Is there any way to make edits to image layers without these changes showing up in the original image and if so, how do I do it?

GIMP :: Changing A Text Layer (2011)?

May 11, 2011

I'm having trouble accessing text layers in a logo I am trying to make.

Each time I create text, it gets put into its own layer; that seems to be the way GIMP does things. I'm fine with that. However, once I've completed making a text layer and moved on to creating a second text layer, I can't seem to get back to the first text layer to make changes, such as the colour of the text or the size of the font.

The window for the graphic indicates that there are several layers but I can seem to get back to any previous layer. I don't see any menu options for accessing one of the other layers. PageUp and PageDown don't show me the different layers. It's as if the layer's content, colour, font, etc. can't be changed once I've started a new layer.

How do I access the layers that I created before the current layer?

I am using GIMP 2.6.11 and running on Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2.

Photoshop Elements :: Make One Layer Smaller And Rotate It Leaving Other Layer Intact

Apr 4, 2013

I have two maps of same area (different years) and I want to match them up as one map.  I can load them both as layers and make the older map transparent so that I can see through to newer map, but older map is larger than the newer map (in the background).  I can move the transparent map but I cannot make just the transparent map smaller to fit over the other map.  I will also need to rotate the map slightly.  When I try to resize it changes both maps.  I have tried the transform and the move tool.  So how can I make one layer smaller and rotate it it leaving the other layer intact?

3ds Max :: 2011 Render Elements Fails With Bad Passes?

Apr 25, 2011

I am attempting to move a project from Max9 to Max2011. Using Mental Ray.

Test renders of Diffuse, reflection, refraction, shadow, Self Illumination are failing.

The diffuse pass is very dark and looks like it still contains all the elements. But very dark.

The rest of the passes are just black.

I had this render working well in Max9. Perhaps something in the newer version of Mental Ray that I am missing?

I did some tests with just a simple scene. A plane, a box and a sphere. (1.48GB)

Render elements seem to work rather well if the scene is created in MAX2011. So it must be something in the Max9 files that is causing the error. ?

Photoshop Elements :: How To Copy A Mask From One Layer To A New Layer

Dec 4, 2012

I have been trying to copy a mask from one layer to a new layer in Elements 11.  I can do this in CS3 by using alt and dragging to the new layer.  It doesn't work in Elements 11.  Is this feature unavailable in elements 11 or is there a different command?  there doesn't seem to be much point in spending all that time making a complex layer amsk and then being unable to use it on another layer.

I have to give a tutorial on layer masks using both CS3 and elements at the Camera Club!

Photoshop Elements :: Getting Separate Movable Text Elements In Single Layer?

Dec 20, 2013

Is there any way to have more than one text placement inside of a single layer, but be able to maintain and move each of those separately from the others?   From what I have seen, each new Text item gets its own new layer.   If I want to document an image with seven points of reference, it's absolutely crazy that I have to maintain seven layers, each with an integer 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7.   What would be much more maintainable is to create ONE layer and name it "MAP-NUMBERS" and then have seven integers placed into that one layer.   I would then want to be able to move - say - "2" around separately from "4".   Then making all of the numbers appear or disappear becomes as easy as hiding or showing one layer.

Is there a way to do this with any version of Photoshop?
