Photoshop Elements :: 9 - How To Recover Empty File
Feb 22, 2014
I used photoshop element 9.. I was just finishing my flyer for a client. When I went to click save and was waiting for the save to complete, the photoshop just disappear and when I open it back up PSE9 and went to look for my file, I was working on it say This is not a vaild Portable Document File??? I dont want to start over from scratch Is there any way to recover the file?
I have Photoshop Elements 6.0. I was working on an image with 3 layers and I'd been saving very regularly, then my computer crashed. It didn't crash while I was saving but it must have still been saving when it happened because my file got damaged. Now when I open it, it comes up with a message saying 'This document contains Adobe Photoshop data which appears to be damaged. Continue and ignore the Photoshop data?' when I click ok it then says 'The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the ICC profile descrition is invalid. Ignoring the profile'. When the image opens its completely flat and black. I've tries a few recovery programmes but that didn't seem to work. I found a temp file but I don't think it'ss a real temp file because it doesn't have an extension.
PSE 11 catalog but when I try to restore it it says it's empty. I can open the folder/files on my hard drive but the restore function says it is empty.
recovering a file. I have been working in Photoshop for hours, saving often and needed to send a preview to a client.
I saved as a pdf (checking the button to not save layers) and then saved as a psd. The file name kept saying .pdf so I saved the file as a .psd again. This did not work and I was still working in a pdf. So, stupidly, I closed the file and opened the .psd and it cam up as a flattened image.
I opened the .pdf and it also came up as a flattened image. I have the save recovery option checked and it autosaves every 15 minutes. Is there any way to bring back my file with saved layers?
I've been working on this file for a long time, then I tried to work on it tonight, and Photoshop gave me a message that said "Could not complete your request because the file is empty.
We have three old drawings (saved in the year 2009) that we are trying to open with AutoCAD 2013 and we keep getting the message "Drawing File is not valid".
I have done the following:
Files do have a file size. Sometimes, files have 0 KB size, but not these ones.
We tried to open the files using AutoCAD 2013, AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and DWG TrueView (downloaded today!) and in all instances we get the same message.
We tried recovering and the message is "unable to recover the drawing file"
We tried inserting as a block and, in the command line we get "...was created by an incompatible version of AutoCAD *Invalid*" Again, the file is genuinely older than our current AutoCAD.
I saved a file as PSD ,then delete all the layers and was doing another stuff on the sheet( the reason I did this is because I wanted the same page size and was lazy to enter the size:| )after I finished, I saved the file to another name. but, I found that the first file that i saved manually , is replaced by an autosave file on my work procedure on the second file. I know this happend because I was working with the sama names, but is there any way that I can restore my first file that I saved to what I manually saved?
How do I recover albums that disappeared? I was in Elements, came back to Organize and thousands of hours of work were gone...no albums at all. Can they be recovered?
I just added a SSD drive to my computer and reloaded all software including Windows 7 and Photoshop Elements 11 onto this new system drive. I did not make a separate backup of the Organizer Catalog beforehand, however the catalog is stil on the hard drive, now to be used as a data drive. How can I recover this catalog?
I had PSE 10 installed on my Windows 7 machine when my hard drive started to fail, rendering the OS unbootable. Luckily I have all of my pictures stored on an external RAID (5+1), but I'd like to get all of my catalog information back (albums, people tags, etc.). Is there a way to do that without having to start PSE and run a backup (since that's not really feasible). There are two pieces of information that I hope will make this possible:
1) I have a backup of my c:Users directory on an external drive 2) I have successfully attached my old hard drive to a different machine where I can access most of the files on the drive (although some are corrupt).
I guess what I really need to know is what files I need to copy in order to preserve this data.
I have a PSD file that became corrupted when the power went out in the house while in the middle of saving the the file. The PSD file itself is corrupted.
When I load it it says "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered." I have tried all sorts of PDS recovering programs and none could get the file recovered except for a BRIGHT BLUE/GREEN BACKGROUND.
When I load up photoshop 5.0 and go to select the corrupted psd file, there thumbnail DOES show up perfectly fine. However I cannot remotely see it in details because it's TINY.. Like 1/16" x 3" high.
Is there ANYWAY.. with ANY PROGRAM that will actually extract that thumbnail? All the ones I've tried online or downloaded extracts the thumbnail as just one BRIGHT BLUE/GREEN BACKGROUND.
I'd like to extract the thumbnail and have it LARGER so I can actually VIEW the contents.
I just downloaded Elements 11 for the first time and spent considerable time editing photos. I then received a message that the program had stopped working. When I tried to go back in, the photo bin was empty. Have I lost all my edited photos or can I recover?
Had to do a clean reload of Windows and PSE 8.0 and my pictures. I saved the Program files folder for PSE 8.0. How do I recover the Album and Tags back to the pictures? Are there files that I can restore from the saved PSe 8.)?
Had to reinstall PS elements 8. I used the menu feature "File - Get Photos & Videos" to reload my previously tagged photos. The photos reloaded but absent the tags - can I recover photos with the tags attached?
I tried to start Photoshop 5.1 64bit today, and it shows the blue intro screen with the reading and loading, and then it goes to a popup error message that reads, "Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is empty." I can run the 32bit version fine, but I would prefer to use the 64bit version. I am running Windows 64bit Ultimate. I have been having issues here and there with CS5.5 on this computer. I ran CS4 fine for the last few years, but since after the upgrade, things have been acting weird. About two weeks ago, InDesign refused to work, so I did a reinstall. Then, two days later, I was having other issues, so I did another reinstall. Before that, Illustrator was having issues, so I had to copy programs files from my office computer to my home computer to make it work. I am starting to wonder if my hard drive is going out. Is there an Adobe fix for just Photoshop? I have the CS5.5 installation DVDs here. I tried copying the Photoshop.exe from my office computer to my home computer and replacing it, but it didn't work either.
Having tried to install PSE12 for several times without success ( problem to establish connection with other tools), I got now an error message "specified path empty" generated by the deinstallation process. It's strange that the deinstallation process is launched because the installation always failed so far (I can't find any trace of the installation in Windows 7). Please note that I've also launched the Adobe Support tool which confirmed that everything is ok concerning the PSE12 installation prerequisits.
There is a very important AI file I've been working on. After upgrading to Maverick this morning is seems corrupt -- though I don't think its the file itself since I can retreive versions in time machine from before the Mavericks, and they have the same problem.
Well when I open this file (and so far it is only this file) I get the following error: Can't open the illustration. The illustration ended unepxpectedly. <the a bunch of gibberish>

I bought photoshop elements 11 and I backed it up on a disk when I got rid of my old computer. But the disk seems to be empty. I made a mistake somewhere. Can I download Photoshop elements 11 ? Now there seems to be only elements 12.
When I try to create a new, empty catalog in Elements 9, I get this error message. "The catalog could not be opened. It is either corrupt, or the version is out of date and cannot be updated."
I was trying to change the copyright information on a few photos in PS, but every time I open the File Info dialog (ctrl-alt-shift-i) the dialog comes up empty and hangs photoshop. Even if I open PS with a new document and try to open File Info, it still hangs.
Here's my version: Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1 20120808.r.519 2012/08/08:21:00:00) x64 Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1
I am an interior design student and my floor plan saved to USB seems to be corrupted now. It keeps saying File is not Valid. I was working on it last night and saved it like normal and today it won't open. This is my only copy of the file and I don't want to start over. How to recover at least part of it? It's on there somehow. It's showing that the file contains 1,024 KB.
My autocad gets a fatal error unhandled exeption error and crashes when I etransmit from the sheet set manager. it hangs for awhile then crashes, and I have to close the application. This is a very xref heavy job with files from all diciplines culminating to create a zip file for the project. It worked with Acad 2012, took a long time, but worked. By the way this is accross all our our new AutoCAD 2013 installations who try to transmit from this project. I've tried others and it works fine. Just this project. Is there any way to recover the shet set dst file?
I am having trouble with uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 on my computer. Everytime, I try to I get a pop-up: "2343 Error: A specified path empty." I tried running Microsoft Fix-It Tool but it's unavaliable for me to use. (I'm guessing Windows 8 is incompatible at the moment
