Photoshop :: CS5 - How To Recover Crashed File
Mar 20, 2012My .psd (cs5) file crashed. Is there anyway to recover it.
View 9 RepliesMy .psd (cs5) file crashed. Is there anyway to recover it.
View 9 RepliesWas asked to troubleshoot a Win 7 PS13 (CS6) crash today - first time to my knowledge PS has ever crashed! On restart, no Auto Recover option. All work lost. Did some checking.
Found two folders:
1. On the boot disk, found Usersxxxx.......AutoRecover
2. On the exclusive scratch disk - set on G: - found the folder G:PSAutoRecover (as well as the PS temp file in the root of G:).
Both the AutoRecover folders were empty.Set auto save time to 5 minutes... Rebooted. Restarted PS and created a new file - test01.psd. Saved it. Did some work, didn't save... kept checking... (played games for 15 mins). Checked. Both AutoRecover files remained empty.
Crashed the system (forced shutdown). Auto recover option and the test file was not showing up in the recent files list... opened the original test01 .psd. No work subsequent to the original save showed up. Nor any recovery option. Did some more work on the file... just checked... both the AutoRecover folders are still empty.(Just closed PS and saw that the PS temp file deleted itself. Both the AutoRecovery folders remain - empty.} So, my questions are:
1. Is there a 'Permissions' attribute i need to set? Or...
2. Is the AutoRecover messed up? Or...
3. Is the installation messed up and should i advise a reinstallation?
I was working on a .psd file (opened in PaintTool SAI) when there was a blackout so my laptop was crashed. When I opened it an hour later, the .psd file was ruined; all layers flattened to one black background layer; and no matter how many programs I tried to open the file, it's still the same black image.
Is there any possible way to recover my .psd file before it was crashed?
I have a CS4 file i have been working on (rendering a PDF) file got big 1.7 gig, crashed, and now wont open. I get this message: Error opening the PDF document. Error code =0x20030003. I need to recover this file.
View 5 Replies View Relatedrecovering a file. I have been working in Photoshop for hours, saving often and needed to send a preview to a client.
I saved as a pdf (checking the button to not save layers) and then saved as a psd. The file name kept saying .pdf so I saved the file as a .psd again. This did not work and I was still working in a pdf. So, stupidly, I closed the file and opened the .psd and it cam up as a flattened image.
I opened the .pdf and it also came up as a flattened image. I have the save recovery option checked and it autosaves every 15 minutes. Is there any way to bring back my file with saved layers?
I've been working on this file for a long time, then I tried to work on it tonight, and Photoshop gave me a message that said "Could not complete your request because the file is empty.
View 2 Replies View RelatedX5 just crashed and a dialogue showed up asking med to contact Corel support and send them the DMP file.
I find it a little strange that they don't offer a direct upload option of the DMP file as a part of this dialogue, but it's probably me who is a little strange...
Anyway. Is there an email address or something where I can send this DMP file? It would be much faster than getting in touch with Corel support.

When open a DWG file in Autocad 2013
We have three old drawings (saved in the year 2009) that we are trying to open with AutoCAD 2013 and we keep getting the message "Drawing File is not valid".
I have done the following:
Files do have a file size. Sometimes, files have 0 KB size, but not these ones.
We tried to open the files using AutoCAD 2013, AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and DWG TrueView (downloaded today!) and in all instances we get the same message.
We tried recovering and the message is "unable to recover the drawing file"
We tried inserting as a block and, in the command line we get "...was created by an incompatible version of AutoCAD *Invalid*" Again, the file is genuinely older than our current AutoCAD.
Suddenly i am facing X6 crashing after an update 1. when open/new file, the software crashes : with the following messages:

I saved a file as PSD ,then delete all the layers and was doing another stuff on the sheet( the reason I did this is because I wanted the same page size and was lazy to enter the size:| )after I finished, I saved the file to another name. but, I found that the first file that i saved manually , is replaced by an autosave file on my work procedure on the second file. I know this happend because I was working with the sama names, but is there any way that I can restore my first file that I saved to what I manually saved?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop Elements 6.0. I was working on an image with 3 layers and I'd been saving very regularly, then my computer crashed. It didn't crash while I was saving but it must have still been saving when it happened because my file got damaged. Now when I open it, it comes up with a message saying 'This document contains Adobe Photoshop data which appears to be damaged. Continue and ignore the Photoshop data?' when I click ok it then says 'The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the ICC profile descrition is invalid. Ignoring the profile'. When the image opens its completely flat and black. I've tries a few recovery programmes but that didn't seem to work. I found a temp file but I don't think it'ss a real temp file because it doesn't have an extension.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded/installed the PPA for Gimp 2.9.1. It worked great for the first half dozen 16-bit tiffs.I use a few RAW converters to create these tiff tiles, RawTherapee, UFRAW, and the Sony software supplied with my A700 DSLR, Image Data Converter running through Wine.
At any rate, most of the tiffs I create now cause Gimp to crash when opening new files. I get this message: Plug-in crashed: "file-tiff-load" and Opening '/home/caruso/Desktop/PHOTOS from IDC/DSC06219.tif' failed:
Files created previously continue to open as normal.
I was so thrilled to have succeeded in installing 2.9.1 on my system, but now may have to uninstall it and fall back to 2.8.x.I realize that 2.9.1 is experimental and unstable, but would like to know if this is something simple that can be fixed.
I have a PSD file that became corrupted when the power went out in the house while in the middle of saving the the file. The PSD file itself is corrupted.
When I load it it says "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered." I have tried all sorts of PDS recovering programs and none could get the file recovered except for a BRIGHT BLUE/GREEN BACKGROUND.
When I load up photoshop 5.0 and go to select the corrupted psd file, there thumbnail DOES show up perfectly fine. However I cannot remotely see it in details because it's TINY.. Like 1/16" x 3" high.
Is there ANYWAY.. with ANY PROGRAM that will actually extract that thumbnail? All the ones I've tried online or downloaded extracts the thumbnail as just one BRIGHT BLUE/GREEN BACKGROUND.
I'd like to extract the thumbnail and have it LARGER so I can actually VIEW the contents.
My hard drive crashed so I lost a lot of my CDR work. I was able to get some back in the form of JPG. These were files that I drew in Corel and Exported as JPG. Is there anyway I can get them back into Vector without re drawing? I figured there had to be a way since they were originally drawn in Corel.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a major problem with PhotoPaint X5 after SP2. I have an image of a movie poster from internet. Let's say about 1000x1500 pixels. I make the width 300 px. (height will be 440 or more) Than I make a new document of 300x430 pixels. Copy and paste the first file into the second. Move it up and/or down with the arrow keys to have a good composition. Than I combine the image with the background (shift/control/arrow down) and save it to rest.jpg. When I want to close the original image in CorelPaint I get the Corel A.R.M. window. I tried a few times without combining the image to the background and than I CAN close the file without crashing PP. I'm glad I found a workaround since I do these actions quit a lot for my movie and music database. But it took a lot a time to figure out where it went wrong. So according to my tests it must have something to do with combining the image to the background. Sometime when nudging the image a couple of times up and down crashses PP too when I then combine the image and background. At that point i don't come a far as exporting.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is a very important AI file I've been working on. After upgrading to Maverick this morning is seems corrupt -- though I don't think its the file itself since I can retreive versions in time machine from before the Mavericks, and they have the same problem.
Well when I open this file (and so far it is only this file) I get the following error: Can't open the illustration. The illustration ended unepxpectedly. <the a bunch of gibberish>

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am an interior design student and my floor plan saved to USB seems to be corrupted now. It keeps saying File is not Valid. I was working on it last night and saved it like normal and today it won't open. This is my only copy of the file and I don't want to start over. How to recover at least part of it? It's on there somehow. It's showing that the file contains 1,024 KB.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy autocad gets a fatal error unhandled exeption error and crashes when I etransmit from the sheet set manager. it hangs for awhile then crashes, and I have to close the application. This is a very xref heavy job with files from all diciplines culminating to create a zip file for the project. It worked with Acad 2012, took a long time, but worked. By the way this is accross all our our new AutoCAD 2013 installations who try to transmit from this project. I've tried others and it works fine. Just this project. Is there any way to recover the shet set dst file?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got this message when trying to load a WIP file: "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements."
I've searched the forums as well as on other sources on how to deal with it. So far I've tried:
1. Check files on AutoSave folder. No luck. All 5 files gave the same message
2. Fix XML with XML wrench. Tried the "Check is Well Formed" & "Check is Valid" and both said ok"
3. Restarted PC. Same thing.
4. Move project and working files to other folders - same.
5. Created a blank project and tried to import sequence - no sequence show up.
6. Import from After Effects and Exported - no luck as well. Came up with a message saying there's no valid sequence.
Some info:
Adobe Premiere Pro 6.0
Windows 7 64bit
Using Plural Eyes plugin
