Lightroom :: Missing / Changed Adjustment Sliders For DNG Files?
Nov 26, 2013when I open DNG files in the Develop Module, the basic tab is different than when I develop RAW/NEF files? With NEF files there are sliders for shadows, highlights and clipping but with DNG they are different - blacks, recovery, fill light. etc.. Why is this and is there a way to make the Basic tab the same for both (both like the NEF Basics tab)?

Feb 12, 2013I am trying to re-edit some of my birding photos (CR2 raw images). I have difficult masks that were created in LR3 and took alot of time due to feathers on a complicated background. I do not want to have to re-mask everything in LR4. When I have imported my files to LR4 the original LR3 mask is still present. However, the sliders for Temp, Tint, Hightlights, Shadows, Saturation, Noise, Moire and Defringe are missing. I want to do localized noise control to keep feather sharpness so I need the Noise slider.
If I work on a photo that had no LR3 mask all sliders are available. If a mask from LR3 exists I am missing sliders. URL...

Jan 9, 2013I don't know if I missed anything but when using PSE 10 I find that many of the adjustment sliders are very difficult too see. For instance if you use the spot healing tool you basically have a black slider on a black background.

Nov 12, 2013I'm using LR 5.2 and have seen tutorials where local white balance adjustments are possible with the graduated filter or brush tool.
With my LR these sliders are missing. I can change saturation, contrast, etc., but not the white balance. Could this not be part of the student version? The screenshot to the left shows my screen, the one to the right shows the sliders I'm looking for.

Feb 28, 2011When I apply a video filter the sliders and button under the original/preview box are hidden beyond access by the windows box's boundaries.
I can see they're just hidden below the timeline of the split original/preview section. Can't seem to maximize the windows box to show the whole thing and access them. Here's a picture to show: [URL].......
Is this a common problem? Is there a work around? Has it been fixed in VS X4?
Quick edit: this happens with more than just one filter.

Sep 5, 2012I upgraded to LR4 from LR3. After opening LR4 I realized that the Develop/Basic menu sliders are identical to LR3, i.e., Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light, Blacks, Contrast, Clarity, Vibrance and Saturation.

Jul 12, 2012I have PS CS6 with the latest updates, using a Mac computer with OS 10.7 also with the latest updates. When in ACR, the adjustment brush does not appear on the screen unless I click the bracket keys which increase or decrease the size of the brush.
If I paint a segment and the let go of the brush key, the brush disappears again. I have to keep repeating this if I am painting multiple parts of the photo. I have thrown away and reset the preferences for both Photoshop and Bridge, as well as repairing disk permissions on my Mac.

Oct 25, 2012This morning (10/25/12) after booted my system I had a notification that there was a set of updates to my Photoshop CS6 product set. I went ahead a did the updates which installed successfully. A few minutes later I started up Photoshop Elements 10. The start-up of PSE 10 appeared normal at first, but there was a lot of hard disk activity and the Organizer window would not respond when I tried to move the sliders. I started up Task Manager and could see that PSE 10 was continuing to use processor time. I killed PSE 10 and restarted it. I decided to let it run and so far it's been doing something for over 30 minutes. From time to time the window will flash and occasionally I get an hourglass icon to display over the window. I'm not able to move the window or shrink it. I guess I'll just let it run to see if it will ever become operational. My catalog has entries for about 40,000 images so I'm wondering if the Adobe update affected something in the catalog, although the update did not seem to include anything for PSE. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit edition with all the latest Microsoft updates.

Photoshop Elements :: Adjustment Windows Not Available (V10)
May 20, 2013Since a few weeks all of a sudden some pop-up windows are not displayed. For instance after converting an image to B&W, the action is done, but the options to select the presets and finetune the conversion is not displayed. All other menu's are greyed out, so apparently the program is assuming that it is waiting for input from my side.
This applies to more similar situations like applying curves...
How this can happen? The window is not behind the images or hidden...

Dec 28, 2011Using Photoshop Elements 10. I am unable to edit an Adjustment Layer. When I double click the layer thumbnail or click layer content options, nothing happens. This is the case with new files as well as files that had adjustment layers created with Photoshop Elements 6. Fill layers work ok, but adjustment layers such as Levels and Hue/Saturation won't work....

Jan 19, 2014One thing I have never understood is: why use layer masks and adjustment layers, instead of simply creating a copy of the subject layer (the one I want to make changes to) and experimenting with that? It's quick (Ctrl-J), I can do it as many times as I want, I'm not affecting my Background layer. If I like the changes, I can keep them. I can switch the copy on and off to compare with the Background layer. I can do any type of blend or combination I desire. I can insert Gradient layer(s), select any part of the copy and (Ctrl-J) create a new layer containing only the selected part. I can adjust size, rotate, do anything.
It almost seems that "layer mask" and "adjustment layer" are mainly another layer of terminology; how they are intrinsically different from or superior to working with copies of the Background layer?

I edit color in LAB mode. In CS3 I would use the eyedropper tool to select a neutral point and then a levels layer to adjust the color while I was watching the LAB sliders in the color panel. Quick and easy.
Now the problem. In CS4 the color panel changes to greyscale when the levels layer is highlighted. How do I make the LAB sliders sticky? If I edit the color with simply a levels adjustment (not layer) it still works the old way I am used to. I toggled the dynamic slider preference to no avail and I can't find anything else I can change.
Photoshop :: Sliders Makes No Change To Image
Oct 14, 2013iMac, OS 10.8.5 Photoshop CS 6. I have activated the Graphics Display Unit (or whatever it is called) and, with an image in Photoshop and its Layer selected, I do Filters > Render > Lighting Effects. I get the panel on the right called Properties and under it some sliders for Color, Hotspot, etc.
Burt moving the sliders makes no change to the image. Tutorials say that I should get a white elliptical shape with white blobs which should allow me to alter the lighting effects, ("Lighting Controls"?) but nothing appears. The tutorials show a "Menu Bar" should appear just under the three coloured blobs at the top left of the main window. That "Menu Bar" shows, from left to right, something like: a light bulb; Presets-Custom; Lights and three tiny blobs; some thing else; and at the right end, a check; Preview; Cancel; and OK in blue.
I think that "Menu Bar" with Preview checked must appear before I can use the lighting controls on the image.How the heck do I get to see a preview so that I can see and use the lighting controls?

Jan 3, 2012When dragging various sliders in Photoshop CS5, very often these sliders get "stuck" and move with the mouse even though you have released the mouse. Say you are dragging a slider to set the brush opacity to 50%. When you have set it to 50%, you release the mouse and move it away from the slider, only to find that the opacity still increases or decreases as you move your mouse. You have to click again to fix this, but then of course you have to go back and do it again.
Below is a small illustration (I can't take a screenshot of my mouse) of an example of when this happens:
This happens to me around once every 5 times I use a slider, i.e. extremely often. As you can imagine, it's very annoying and frustrating.I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet, and I never use Photoshop without it so I cannot confirm whether this bug happens with a mouse or just the tablet.It doesn't just happen like on the above illustration, but also with any slider such as those in Adjustment Layers and Filters.The bug does not happen when using tools on the canvas. So the Brush tool, and every other tool, works fine and never gets "stuck".I have the latest version of Photoshop CS5.This is a bug that has always been in CS5 since the first version, and it has not been in previous versions of Photoshop.

Photoshop :: Merge To HDR Pro Resulting In Different Image And 8 And 16 Bit Sliders Don't Preview?
Jul 24, 2013In Cs6 whenever I touched any of the sliders the image in the preview panel changed quite nicely, now when I start the HDR Pro it comes up with a black image in the preview panel. Thats easy to fix though I switch from 16 bit or 8 bit to 32 bit the preview shows up and I can click on the 16 or 8 bit modes and it shows a preview.
Then when I adjust any of the sliders nothing happens. I can play with the sliders as much as I want nothing happens. I have been using the 32 bit mode in cunjunction with the 'tone in ACR' setting which gives great results, but now I wanted to play with the scott5 preset. If I click ok it creates the image beautifully. So not only won't it preview but my image is completely different to what is in the preview panel.
