View 14 RepliesIn CS3 you could change something to make all filters act like smart filters, even though they won't. I found this worked very well, now I have CS4 and would like to do the same but can't remember what to do to make it work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason some of my filters seem to only work as "embossed." I don't get it. If I try to place a cross-hatch over the entire layer only the edges seem to be affected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI create new file, add 1st layer, pick colors on color pallette, and try to do difference clouds or halftone pattern and i get an error message saying that nothing is selected. I click on the layer in the layers pallette to be sure that the layer is selected, and it still won't work. Is there something special i need to do? i know in older versions, you could just use the filter...

View 2 Replies View Relatedif there are any tutorials using PIP for VS X3. Also have found that some of the FX filters do not work and I was of the understanding that they were included with purchase = such as Ripple and Twist? I sometimes get a message when trying to use one of these FX filters asking me to register - what is that for is it for the newsletter from Blue FX?? I do not want the feature if it is only a trial and then you discover you can't remove it like previously.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNik Filters do not work with LR4. Contacted Nik three times today. At their request, un-installed all filters, then re-installed, to no avail. They then said "some are having success un-installing Elements, then re-installing." Tried it to no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, Library Filters worked in Lightroom 4, but today they do not. Whenever I pull up the Metadata filters and select a parameter, the title of the filter switches to "Custom Filter" and nothing is selected.
View 1 Replies View Related In "Categories" of the filters window, it can be selected things which composes its mass, such as Mass Exterior Wall, Mass Glazing, Mass Roof. And these things can be clicked only after its mass become energy model.
I set up a filter rule of Mass Roof and applied it to V/G Filters of a view, but it did not displayed in Analyze Mass Model, the same as Mass Exterior Wall, Mass Glazing.
I'm trying to find a way of filtering the 'work in progress' section visibilities from a plan by view filters. The filter I use is 'Sheet Name' equal '<None>'. Then turning off visibility. It works when used in the Browser organisation filters but not in the view filter for the sheets.
I don't want to create a check box or dialogue box for the sheet as this will add to the required maintenance.
I just got PSE CS6 and the blur too will NOT work ....blur filters work, but not BLUR in the tools panel I have tried: unintstall/reinstall, updating, using it no a picture straight after opening it, duplicate layers, selecting an area and then blurring....flattening an image, every single different setting in the the blur tools menu bar NOTHING works. And everything I find about blur is the new blur filters....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure what settings I must have accidentally changed, but for some reason when I try to apply certain filters to an image (any of the "sketch" options for example) my image is changed to look like a negative. ...all if the lights and darks are reversed.
I don't know what I can change back to keep this from happening and it's keeping me from using a lot of these great options.
I am applying Artistic filters to an image in Photoshop. Some of the filters are turning the image into a black and white image, for example, the "torn edges filter." And it then does not seem possible to change that layer into a colored layer. Other filters, such as "glass" leave the image its original color. Is it possible to use the torn edges filter without turning the image black and white?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have hardly ever used filters for any of my work as I have preferred using Xara's native tools and effects to get what I wanted. But recently, I was inspired by some animation work which used backgrounds painted in Photoshop. They used a lot of textures which enhanced the look of the animation and so I thought I'd try to simulate it within Xara.
It works very well and I can export it as a PSD retaining the layers and Alpha channel. But here come my questions.
1. How can I remove the two Alien Skin demo plugins as I already have the full versions.
2. Why don't the native Photoshop plugins--Artistic, Sketch, etc.--seem to work?
I just downloaded a bunch of filters and I dragged them into the filters directory under plugins, but when I open photoshop, none of the filters are there.

Is there any way to set photo settings to a shape, have the shape apply as a filter when over an image.
Ie make a rectangle shape, set it to 50% transparent, and focus -50 contrast +50 brightness +20 then have these effects the photo below
I know I can do this with cloning the image and then create an interesting shape - but this is then fixed to that location over the image -
I want to be able to set these properties to the shape, and then move anywhere over the image
(basically like a piece of frosted glass, placed over a photo. - the glass effects what you see of the photo not just colour but also focus..., but you can move it around)
I downloaded and installed GIMP 2.8.8 in Windows XP. The Filters menu option shows only Repeat last, Re-show last and Reset all filters.Nothing else in there. Where are the filters?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a new user of GIMP on a late 2008 MacBook Pro with Leopard (10.5.. I am trying to work with an image by applying filters however the image in the filters dialogue box is so small, it's almost unusable. How I can enlarge a portion of my pic in this box to more accurately alter it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to GIMP. I've used Adobe Photoshop for years an years and no longer have access to the license. So I've been giving GIMP a test drive for a little while. I'm confused as to why when I apply a filter to my image or layer it changes the color to B/W or grayscale? I'm sure this is a relatively easy fix, but most filters I'm using don't have many options and I can't seem to apply the filter "as is". It always changes my whole graphic to grayscale. See "Before & After" attachments.

Is there a preference I can change or is this just an oversight/bug?
I am working on a dormitory project and need to provide a required light and ventilation schedule. I have figured out how to create a schedule for each level, but I want to isolate only the Dormitories and the Kitchenette (weed out all the other rooms such as corridor, elevator, storage, toilets, showers, stairs, trash, electrical, etc.).
I tried using seclusion filters, but there are too many items to exclude and cannot fit them all into the 4 filter categories. I am trying to just get the rooms that begin with 'D' and 'K'. I tried providing the variable 'Begins With' for D and in the next line 'Begins With' K, but then nothing shows up.
Is there a way to provide information to the filter that would allow it to show only rooms beginning with D AND K? I cannot seem to get it to work. I have been playing around with separation values within one filter category (i.e. 'Begins With' D, K) but apparently you cannot add multiple variables within one of the filter items.
I tried opening the images that I applied lightroom filters on, and the images did not change at all, though when I go to lightroom the filters are present. Does that mean that lightroom filters only work inside lightroom? Is there a way to save the photos with the filter(s) applied?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am unable to work with 32 bit image files on our cs6 ? I am fallowing a tutorial and a person creates a new file with 32 bit channel selected from dropdown menu, and starts painting on it he is using CS5. When I create a 32 bit file and select the brush tool, it comes on with circle and cross line and error comes up saying that the brush tool is not supported with 32 bit image files, in fact, I can't use any tools on the 32 bit images, I can't even create a new layer on the file. There is one thing I can do, which is a great feature, I can save it! If the image is plane white sheet.
View 12 Replies View RelatedStill works in PS6 but not CC
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I open an Image in Photoshop CC the image does not appear in my work space. The tab identifies that the image is opened, layers shows the image is open, however it is not on the screen. All tools, brushes etc work, but I can't see what they are doing. I can only see the image if i click the tab and move it around. Once my mouse lets go of the image window it dissapears again. After moving it around and such it gets buggy and the image crashes not Photoshop. i have attached two screen shots of my problem. the second with the image, i have my mouse clicked, held down holding onto the window to acheive this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought and loaded PS C4 after uninstalling my PS CS2 and noticed that CS4 doesn't come with ImageReady. I've been reading online that ImageReady has migrated into PS CS4. Now the droplets that a company I contract for created don't work. They were created using Photoshop 7.0 and have worked for every PS version until this one. I don't know how to create the droplets using Photoshop CS4. What's going on with ImageReady? Is there something I can do to make these droplets work? Or do I have to create new ones?

Is there a feature in PS CS6 whereby I can trace the outline of my artwork on the page by defining the edges?
I use Photoshop LE 5.0, which has many of the BIG Photoshop features.
If I take a web page screenshot and turn it into greyscale and print that,
I still get some colors coming thru on the printout, even though it looks b/w on the screen.
Is this a common problem? Photoshop or Printer or Windows?
The image is basically a grayscale height map created from Digital Elevation Models, and exported out of another program as a 16bit tiff. I know photoshop can handle the idea of a 16bit image, but no matter what I do, these come out black. i've tried dumping it out as signed, unsigned, stretched, etc. I can't mess with things like contrast or brightness globally cause that will alter the values which have to stay the same.Basically it needs to open in photoshop cs5 as what it is and save off the same way.
I don't have any other way to do what I need to do to it other than photoshop, so if there is a way to make this work, and no, converting it to 8bit is not an option.
I have an image that I rendered in 3ds Max 2013 using iRay. There is a visible horizon line present in the image that I am trying to edit out. However, adjusting the levels, curve or exposure does absolutely nothing to the part of the image I am trying to edit. They do however work on the parts im not trying to edit. I'm sure this explains very little, so here is a lower res version showing whats up.
Try to edit the levels on the TV layer; the matte shadows and horizon line stay the same, while the TV adjusts as expected.[URL]...
