Photoshop :: CS6 - Adding Yellow To Lightroom Imports?
Jan 23, 2013
I use Lightroom 4 and CS6 on a win7/64 PC. When I edit a Lightroom photo in CS6 and save it back to Lightroom as a PSD, I notice that the PSD is slightly more yellow than the original Lightroom image. This is verified in the PSD histogram, where the yellow portion is a little larger and uniform than the RAW version histogram.
This happens whether I export in 16 bit AdobeRGB (1998), and Photoshop is also set to edit in 16 bit AdobeRGB (1998), or both are set to ProphotoRGB. The yellow shift can be seen when comparing a photo prior to and after Photoshop adjustment (no tonal adjustment made in Photoshop) in Lightroom and also when comparing the Lightroom photo and the picture in Photoshop as soon as it is imported. My monitor was calibrated about a month ago, so that is unlikely to be the problem.
Having an issue where all brushes and graduated filters are adding a warm yellow tint, no matter what the color settings are for the brush. The tint persists, even if I convert the image to B&W within Lightroom.
Recently upgraded and am trying to Import Raw photos. The are imported into Lightroom but show up as grey tiles and will not open. When I go to Photoshop CS-5, they open fine. I had this problem when I first opened the program and it was a monitor problem. I got it corrected with tech support then and as I remember it was sRGB problem.
When importing images, the filename prefix, image number, directory, and other attributes are "sticky" between imports (they're remembered so you don't have to enter them again for the subsequent import), however the keywords aren't remembered. I'd suggest they should, just as the other attributes are. Wandering through the discussions, it appears the import dialog keyword field was sticky in 2009. Did it change or is there an options setting somewhere I can't find that would toggle this behavior?
LR 3 just recently stopped saving my imports into the folders. Luckily, I exported the edits as jpgs so at least have the edited images saved elsewhere, but only my most recent imports show up in the LR catalog. I'm a relatively experienced LR user, and don't know what suddenly went wrong.
Yesterday I did a tethered portrait shoot into LR and at one point LR failed to capture some images. Therefore, after the shoot, I imported the CF-card using my card reader and ticked the "don't import suspected duplicates". Still LR imported all images and whenever it found a duplicate, instead of ignoring it, LR just renamed the file with "-2" at the end of the file name. This doesn't look right to me.
Is this a bug, should LR function like this or is there something that I've missed? Shouldn't LR at least ask me if I want to rename, overwrite or ignore? What can I do to avoid this issue in the future? When I try ti import I get this error message: 'Error loading toolkit script 'ImportCompactDataSource (not enough memory)' And I can't import anything. I can't seem to fid a common error online, either.
I've already tried purging the cache in preferences. Didn't seem to work.
I've been importing lots of photos from my hard drive into lightroom and been moving/renaming them in the process. I only got lightroom a few weeks ago.
This has worked fine but i've recently imported a few hundred photos off my iphone and doing the same thing - move and rename. The trouble is, these photos keep going into the 2009 folder, instead of the 2012 or 2013 folders that they should be. When i look at the photos, they have the correct name, and the capture date seems to be correct, its just lightroom keeps wanting to put them in the wrong folder by year.
naturally I want all my photos sorted into the right date folders as this is the way ive decided to organise my photos...
On import lightroom 5.3 still does not recognize previous imports of the same file name. I have the "do not import suspected" checked, but LR5 does not exclude the old files. Import has Copy, New Photos and Do not import suspected duplicates checked. No problem with LR4.4 on imports
I've a CPU with four cores and also enabled hyperthreading.
But if I do an import by Lightroom it uses at best 25 % of my overall CPU performance.
If it would start many low prio threads, it would speed up my import a lot, as I've import very often 2,000 up to 8,000 pictures.
In my case it could speed up the process by factor 4. And that would be great, as also an Intel i7 with 3.4 GHz has a lot of work to do, so the import of 2,000 images takes in my case perhaps 15 or 20 minutes. I did not watch the time.
Is there any chance, to tell Lightroom to use more threads and spread them over all the (virtual) CPUs?
Why won't LR5 save my original RAW imports from D7100. I can import them and process them but the originals are then lost. What am I doing wrong? With every other camera the original RAW image is saved in the library.
I must preface this by saying that I am new to LR4 and I have been trying to follow instructions in a popular book as to creating collections, etc. I have been trying to create collections and organize photos. I recently shot a wedding and went through about 900 photos and whittled it down to 350 and now today for some reason I decided to back up a previous catalog and now everything I did yesterday appears to be gone and the only photos that I see in LR are those bridal photos in that catalog.
I know that this is the most amateaur of questions, but what in the world have I done, and can I recover that previous import and the changes I made to them?
I have had Lightroom for a bout a month and use my QNAP NAS to store images. This has always been ok until today.Today the light next the QNAP directory in the 'folders' dropdown of LR4 shows yellow rather than green. If I set folder status to display it says it's online and I can access the images fine.
The problem is that I have a custom renaming preset which takes the folder name and makes it part of the file name. While the light is showing yellow it no longer picks up the folder name (but will remane the file according to other presets such as date). It's really odd because the black bar just above the filmstrip tells me the name of the folder correctly so I don't know why the rename won't show it. I know the preset works correctly because 1) I have always used it before on this NAS and 2) it works fine for files on my mac HDD (which shows a green light status).
I use Lightroom 2.2 to import and convert RAW photos from my Panasonic Lumix LX3 to DNG files. Works great except for one thing:
If I shot a photo using the LX3's 'Black and White Dynamic' preset, Lightroom imports it and a few seconds later, the photo becomes colored (really yellow) instead of remaining black and white.
That's weird since I don't use any Lightroom preset when importing these photos. It seems like Lightroom is applying some type of auto-correction to these photos.
I have recently upgraded to LR5.3 and have now noticed an issue when importing photos. When importing in to one folder (as a sub folder), the photos are imported correctly, - on disk they appear in the correct place, howevr in the folder panel, the sub-folder is shown outside of the main folder.
Imort settings are:
Note , on disk the folder '20131226 - Boxing Day' appears correctly (These are all under a root folder 'Photos - LR Masters')
However, in the LR Folder Panel, the folder '20131226 - Boxong Day' appears outside of the 'Photos - LR Masters'
If I attempt to move the folder by dragging, I get an error that the folder already exists.
The fresh install of LR 5.2 renders all images - RAW and JPG - throughout the program with a very dark, green-yellow colorcast. The only place where images appear normal is in the Import dialog, while the thumbnail mode is active. Apart from that, every program module features this annoying reproduction. Here are some supporting screenshots (red rectangles are from me):
Import screen - thumbnail view - OK:
Import screen - preview - NOT OK:
Library view - NOT OK:
Strangely enough, if I export the picture to JPEG - without any modifications - the image appears normal again:
LR version: 5.2.1, 64b (tried the 32b version too, same error) OS: Windows 8, 64bit Camera: Canon 40d, imported images are RAW.
I'd like to make a collage using several different images. I created a new image in Photoshop, just a regular white background image, and I'd like to somehow place these other images in the new image.
I'm using save for web from Photoshop to save a png 24 (so, with transparency). When using png files with transparent backgrounds the colors end up showing a bounding boxes of each element. So if I have a solid black zero, and a red TM om the same image it looks fine everywhere except 3dsMax. In Max it shows as a big black box, and a little red box. The alpha channel reads just fine though.
I am quite annoyed that I have to go back and save all my maps as jpgs with one of them being an alpha map if I want to see them properly in the viewport. I can use the images because it only messes up the outside of the color, but it's difficult to map the placement of certain images. Surely a few people here use Photoshop to create png files for import into Max right?
I have had Photoshop CC and have found large images (both RAW and JPEG) import really grainy. This hasnt happened with previous Photoshops ive owned.
when i scale the image size down it seems to remove most of the grain. ive found one other thread talking about this but they ended up agruing about termonolgy. Im not really keen for that.
Exporting an .obj file from Maya with several meshes, but when I import it to Photoshop it is only one mesh, so I can't hide specific peices. How do you lot get around this, seems like all .obj files are always one mesh, am I wrong?
Even if there are NO changes to the settings between individual (non-sequential) images, each import of a camera raw file must be approved by clicking okay for each file. In projects which involve hundreds (thousands?) of unique stills this is needlessly tedious.
Instead, the option of one CR dialogue would suffice that could (again, optionally) be applied to all.Adopting Photoshop’s Camera raw dialogue’s ability to process BATCH images in the window and opening them all in PS seems like a natural solution to AE import hangup.
This should also allow for the option to re-open the dialogue after import on one or more stills to modify the contents and then close.
In addition the fact that AE insists that a still need be at least one full second seems like an unnecessary restriction. Why is it not possible to import an image as just one frame?
The modification I suggest would saves tremendous time and allows for incredible flexibility.
We had an animation project where we have to manipulate1200 stills in After Effects to create an animation. Since the stills were not shot sequentially and the editing/compositing needed to happen within AE, importing as a sequence was not an option. The impediments in basic import functions added a full day's work just to import the files(!). We ended up selecting the images in LR, applying minor correction, exporting the selects as DNG files, importing them into AE (clicking the OKAY button in the CR dialogue for each of 1200 images) then selecting all the images and creating proxies so they were easier and faster to work with. (note: we ended up buying a proxy creator script because AE won’t generate proxies for multiple items in one action)
This is not an isolated case for one project. We require this function all the time. But the tedious importing of 1200 images in one project really broke our moral.
importing Adobe Illustrator files into Maya. Well, now I've solved the problem and was able to export my "South Park" like character (made with CorelDRAW). The problem is that, though the model had colors in CorelDRAW, the model as it appears in Maya, has no colors. It's just curves. How to add colors to the model, while mantaining exactly the same colors it had.
We imported a DGN file and all the arcs, when you click on them have a grayed out circle completing the arc. When I list them, the come up as ellipses. I need to join these arc/ellipses to adjacent polylines.
