Lightroom :: Photos Are Showing Up In Previous Imports But Not In Their Folder
Oct 9, 2013My photos are showing up in previous imports but not in their folder.
View 2 RepliesMy photos are showing up in previous imports but not in their folder.
View 2 RepliesI've been importing lots of photos from my hard drive into lightroom and been moving/renaming them in the process. I only got lightroom a few weeks ago.
This has worked fine but i've recently imported a few hundred photos off my iphone and doing the same thing - move and rename. The trouble is, these photos keep going into the 2009 folder, instead of the 2012 or 2013 folders that they should be. When i look at the photos, they have the correct name, and the capture date seems to be correct, its just lightroom keeps wanting to put them in the wrong folder by year.
naturally I want all my photos sorted into the right date folders as this is the way ive decided to organise my photos...
I must preface this by saying that I am new to LR4 and I have been trying to follow instructions in a popular book as to creating collections, etc. I have been trying to create collections and organize photos. I recently shot a wedding and went through about 900 photos and whittled it down to 350 and now today for some reason I decided to back up a previous catalog and now everything I did yesterday appears to be gone and the only photos that I see in LR are those bridal photos in that catalog.
I know that this is the most amateaur of questions, but what in the world have I done, and can I recover that previous import and the changes I made to them?
I have recently upgraded to LR5.3 and have now noticed an issue when importing photos. When importing in to one folder (as a sub folder), the photos are imported correctly, - on disk they appear in the correct place, howevr in the folder panel, the sub-folder is shown outside of the main folder.
Imort settings are:
Note , on disk the folder '20131226 - Boxing Day' appears correctly (These are all under a root folder 'Photos - LR Masters')
However, in the LR Folder Panel, the folder '20131226 - Boxong Day' appears outside of the 'Photos - LR Masters'
If I attempt to move the folder by dragging, I get an error that the folder already exists.
I am trying to sync my folders but Lightroom is not importing all of the photos in the folder. In one folder I have 675 photos (both jpg and CR2) and Lightroom is only importing 1. Even though you can look at the folder in another window and see all 675 (photo below). This is happening in several of my folders.
The folders that have problems have arrows that are greyed out versus solid grey arrows. If the info is needed:
- Mac Mini - OSX (Leopard)
- Lightroom 3
- Photos were in Aperature prior to exporting out to import into Lightroom
- Photos were either taken with Canon Rebel XS or Canon Powershot S3IS
- I have tried optimizing my catalog.
- I have tried remove the folder from Lightroom and re-importing. Still only recognizes 1 photo.
- The do not import duplicates button is not clicked
- I have confirmed that all filters are off.
In the catalog view, is it possible to switch back to a previous folder you were just viewing without having to locate it and click on it? For example, is there something like a back button to return to previous screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery-time I synchronizing a folder, Lightroom always shows Previous Import for the found images.I think this is very annoying, since I manually have to point to the synchronized folder. When I synchronize a specific folder I expect Lightroom to stay on that specific synchronized folder! There should at least be an option for this in the preferences but I haven't found anything...
I'm currently following a longer Lightroom 5 course on Lynda and this don't occur on the authors mac when synchronizing occurs! Is this a windows-only issue or should I dig deeper into my manual?
How do I move images from "Previous Export as Catalog into my pictures folder?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a relativcely new Lightroom user, and brand new to Lightroom 4. (I just upgraded after a hardware failure forced me to get a new computer.) My photos all came up missing -- mainly because the new computer assigned a different drive path to the external hard drive where most of my photos were stored. I spent much of yesterday locating 5000+ photos in my old catalog. Late in the day I tried to import the "located "photos into the new Lightroom 4 catalog. I am not sure what actually happened, but the photos do not currently appear in either the old catalog or the Lightroom 4 catalog. Fortunately, Lightroom does seem to know how to find them, because if I click "find previous process photos," the re-located photos are displayed. How do I get these photos incorporated safely in a catalog? Do I need to do take appropriate steps before conducting any other processing of photos?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got about 10,000 photos that I've moved in lightroom by creating a folder called 'pictures' on the external drive using the left folders panel. I then selected all the images in the root drive on my computer and dragged them onto the 'pictures' folder on the external drive, and I expected the folder structure to come with it. Only after I realised that they had all moved into one folder. Is there a way of moving the images back into a structure without manually doing it? Here's a screenshot.....
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday I was editing tons of photos, using the Previous Button once at a time to add the previous photo's adjustments to the next selected photo and everything was a great.
Today I hit Previous and the selected photo AND every photo after it gets adjusted.
What could I have possibly hit to change the behavior of the button?
I am trying to access a catalogue which had about 200 photos in it and i accessed daily for about a week, but it's now saying it is empty 'no photos on previous import'
I haven't moved the original files so it doesnt say anything is missing. I'm not getting any previews at all. I did back up but had since edited the photos.I dont want to have to edit them all over again so before i try to restore the catalogue with the unedited back up files, is there a way of finding my catalogue?
Just started using Photomatix pro. Used autoimport to reimport into LR 3. Can only see Photomatix tiffs when switch to all photographs. This pulls up all 8000 plus photos rather than just the file folder in which I am working. Is there a way to get these tiffs to show in previous import photos?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've imported my photos into Lightroom 4.1, running on Windows 7.
My photos are organized by Year, then Month. For example, I imported a directory "2011", which contains all my photos from 2011. There are sub folders for each month, such as "April 2011".
For some reason, the sub folder "September 2011" is not showing up.
I tried to re-import that directory, and all the photos are shown as already imported.
I also (accidentally) have a "September 2011" directory in a sub-folder in my 2012 photos. I tried to move this directory to 2011, but I'm told that the folder already exists. Why isn't it showing up under 2011?
Why the aren't showing now but the exported files data to that folder is at zero. What I can do to make it reflect what's in the folder?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore i import from my SD card into lightroom I create 2 named folders - one on my hard drive and another for back up on my external hd.In LR inport dialogue box I choose the hard drive folder as my main destination and select my ext hard drive folder as my make second copy to folder
I untick the make a second copy to box.I choose Copy and click import..All images are copied OK but only the hard drive folder shows up in the folders display area under library even though the back up copy shows in the ext hard drive folder.
Is it possible to get both folders to show in the display?
I have things cataloged in folders by country then by year, then date. If I try to add a folder I am directed to my Lightroom folder and everything is in order, ie Lightroom/Asia/China/2008/ 2008-6-16. But I can't see that on the right side of LR.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Lightroom 5 and moving photos to a sub folder. Here's where I'm running into a problem:
My photos are in a folder named "to file"Inside "to file" I create a folder named "2013-05"I select some photos from "to file" and click and drag them into "2013-05"They appear in "2013-05" as expectedThe problem is, they still appear in the parent folder "to file" My question is, once I move photos to a sub folder how can I prevent them from appearing in the parent folder?
How do I get the watermark to work in lightroom? worked fine in the trial but does not show up on photos now. I am starting to get very frustrated with it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDownloaded LR4 this morning, backed up and upgraded the catalog. None of my photos appear in the Develop Module when I switch to that module from the Folders, though they appear when I switch from a Smart Collection, but not a standard Collection. It shows "No Photo Seclected". Regardless of where I switch from, no photos appear in the filmstrip in the Library or Develop module, though the location menu just above the filmstrip shows the correct number of photos in that particular folder. I'm on a late model iMac, OS 10.7.3, with 12 GB RAM.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Ulead Video Studio 10.0.0110 0 SE DVD.
Using this tool I wish to create a DVD with a stored project file(vsp). using the Studio Editor/tools/CreateDisc option. I then have problems with subsequent screens because the Previous/Next buttons do not display as per the documentation. Therefore I am unable to go backwards and forwards throught the wizard steps. I have attached screenshots.
I am running Window 7 64 bit Home premium. In other ways the software appears to work fine.
In an attempt to resolve the problem I have attempted to run the service pack 1 dated 2007-01-15. However this refuses to run stating that Video Studio is not installed.
FIRST: I cannot move photos from one folder to another, drag and drop does not function at all, and there is no 'move' command with a right-cllick on a photo. I can move folder locations, drag and drop on the folder view works, but I want to move individual photos. I am sure I could do it with previous versions.
SECOND: If I click on HELP, I simply get a box up from Adobe AIR saying: This installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance. I am loathe to re-install as last time I did that, I had a grand hassle over number of activations, even though I am only running on my one and only machine.
I have a Lightroom catalog on each of two different computers. Each of the two catalogs have imported photos from the same "Photos" folder on a server.
There is one main folder with hundreds and hundreds of sub folders.
The one catalog is showing 226,186 photos and the other catalog is showing 218,732 photos.
I've tried syncing the computer's catalog that has 7,454 less photos imported than the other computer but I always end up with two different totals on each computer. Very frustrating since both catalogs must match.
One computer is a Mac and the other computer is a PC (not sure that should make any difference).
I am new to Lightroom, and just purchased LR 4, upgraded to LR 4.1 and catolog my photo files. After this, I uploaded some photos from a SD card to a common folder (e.g. "Uploads 2012") on my hard drive using LR. This worked well. I then used Windows Explorer to drag/drop those files into their respective proper folders (there were many files on the card that were appropriate for different existing folders on my computer).
Here's where the problem starts. Prior to this uploading session, I had 297 files in a photo folder. Afterwards, I had 427 photos in this same folder. Using LR 4.1, I chose to "synchronize folder", then "import new photos" (it recognizes that there are new photos in this dialogue box). The program tells me this task is completed, but afterwards there remain 297 photos in the LR folder, and 427 photos in the location in Windows Explorer.
I have a folder on my hard drive with 72 photos (files) in it. When I pull this folder up in Lightroom 3, the number next to the folder incorrectly indicates that there are 73 photos in this file!? When I "Select Al"l photos for this folder, it indicates that 72 out of 73 photos were selected. Why does Lightroom indicate one extra photo that should not be there, and how do I correct this? Synchronizing the folder did not fix this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using the latest (stable) version of LR5 on a up to date iMac. I was moving my photos (that is - the top level folders) from one drive to another in LR. After a while LR shows the error message saying the files couldn't be found. When checking in Finder I see the folder structure gets duplicated at the new location, the original folders are empty though and I can find the photos in trash.
