Dec 3, 2012Is it possible to have the image numbers carry over from one importing session to the next instead of restarting at 001 each time?

I use Photoshop CS and am on Mac OS X 10.4.10
I have 700 odd wedding images in 5 folders, went to rename them as usual - but for some reason didnt check the "extension" option so now all of my jpegs are renamed but without a file tag - which means photoshop browser doesn't see them and none of my programs will open them! They are of course still in the folder - but not visible.
I'd like to make a collage using several different images. I created a new image in Photoshop, just a regular white background image, and I'd like to somehow place these other images in the new image.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using save for web from Photoshop to save a png 24 (so, with transparency). When using png files with transparent backgrounds the colors end up showing a bounding boxes of each element. So if I have a solid black zero, and a red TM om the same image it looks fine everywhere except 3dsMax. In Max it shows as a big black box, and a little red box. The alpha channel reads just fine though.
I am quite annoyed that I have to go back and save all my maps as jpgs with one of them being an alpha map if I want to see them properly in the viewport. I can use the images because it only messes up the outside of the color, but it's difficult to map the placement of certain images. Surely a few people here use Photoshop to create png files for import into Max right?
I have had Photoshop CC and have found large images (both RAW and JPEG) import really grainy. This hasnt happened with previous Photoshops ive owned.
when i scale the image size down it seems to remove most of the grain. ive found one other thread talking about this but they ended up agruing about termonolgy. Im not really keen for that.
Exporting an .obj file from Maya with several meshes, but when I import it to Photoshop it is only one mesh, so I can't hide specific peices. How do you lot get around this, seems like all .obj files are always one mesh, am I wrong?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Lightroom 4 and CS6 on a win7/64 PC. When I edit a Lightroom photo in CS6 and save it back to Lightroom as a PSD, I notice that the PSD is slightly more yellow than the original Lightroom image. This is verified in the PSD histogram, where the yellow portion is a little larger and uniform than the RAW version histogram.
This happens whether I export in 16 bit AdobeRGB (1998), and Photoshop is also set to edit in 16 bit AdobeRGB (1998), or both are set to ProphotoRGB. The yellow shift can be seen when comparing a photo prior to and after Photoshop adjustment (no tonal adjustment made in Photoshop) in Lightroom and also when comparing the Lightroom photo and the picture in Photoshop as soon as it is imported. My monitor was calibrated about a month ago, so that is unlikely to be the problem.
I accidentally saved a vacation day 1 file to day 2 and wrote over day 2. Is there any way to get back the original day 2 file?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a second shooter for a wedding who uses Nikon (I'm Canon) and now I'm trying to rename her files in LR 1.3 Library mode and I get the following message:"Some photos will not be renamed because they are missing or not writable."I know they are not missing because I have them and have edited and worked on them in LR, so that leaves "not writable."What does that mean and what do I have to do to be able to rename these files?I've never had this problem before (she worked another wedding for me and gave me .NEF files and I had no problem).
PS: I know I need to change over to LR3, but right now I'm still in LR 1.3 until I can upgrade.
I am trying to rename some old photos in lightroom but I get thismessage: some photos will not be renamed as they are missing or not writable. the photos are not missing and I can work with them in the develop module.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI attended Matt's Kozlowski's LR4 seminar a few months ago. He talked about not using dates to organize your folders but instead use a meaningful description.
So at the time of IMPORT, I add the metadata, keywords and rename the folder to something meaningful. He said the folders cold still be found by date.
So.....on a recent trip to NEW HAMPSHIRE, i did some work, imported files into LR and renamed the files at import into my PICTURES directory on my laptop.
Now that I am home I am exporting as a catalogue but only the dates and not the names I gave at IMPORT for the folders appear in the library module.
DOI now have to go back at the destination and rename all the folders
I must be missing something.
I want to transfer all this work to my main computer but I will just be going back to bad habits using dates to name files.
I still use Picasa and LR3 (new to LR3, havent made the full switch as I'm still trying to get a grip on the LR3 learning curve)
What I did was change the folder names in Picasa (and found out I cannot undo folder name changes). I can locate the files in LR3 by keyword, but dont know how to reassosiate the files to their new folder.
Whats the the best way for LR3 to find these files again? I dont want to have to delete and reload the images, but will if its easier
When I first started using LR, I converted several folders full of CR2s that had been imported into LR to .dng using the stand-alone DNG Converter and then used the OSX Finder to move those folders to my archive drives. (For those beginners following along - don't do this!!)
I want to re-link LR to those files but find that I need to do the relink routine one file at a time (instead of being able to use the "find nearby missing photos") because LR is looking for an exact match of filename + extension instead of just filename. The problem is that the files on the archve drive have a .dng extension and LR is looking for a .CR2 extension.
Is there a way of having LR look for just the filename? Perhaps a script of some sort?
3000 files to relink - one at a time is not a happy prospect.
(Of course, now I do everything from within LR. Live and learn!)

Yesterday I installed LR 4 Beta. I had a folder with 300 images in it on LR 3, obviously all files had names. I imported these photos into LR4 to work with LR4 and they were renamed in the process. Now in my LR3 folder, all the files still have there old names and the "missing photo ?" and I assume that's because the name has been changed and LR3 can't find them.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a project which requires me to run a script several times, probably over 200 times. Ive been racking my brain serveral times over and cannot figure out how to have the selected layer be renamed by its color information. Ive also tried to maybe build a new layer command into the current action I am using, but i keep having a dialog box pop up which interrupts the rest of the action.
Also, is there a way to automate an action according to a swatch. Meaning if I select a swatch can i have it perform the action and then move on to the next swatch in the list, or until the swatch list has been completed.
My catalog was corrupted, and i decided to create a new catalog from cratch. To my big surprise alle falenames was renamed from IMG_xxxx.cr2 to IMG_xxxx-2.cr2. This is i problem sice i still god the old catalog, and try to recover some of the old editorial settings, but since alle files are renamed the are no longer visible in the old catalog. just about 15.000 files are renamed!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Inventor 2009 idw template that I have setup for export to AutoCAD. Once it's in AutoCAD format I have to run a script file from my customer that checked attributed fields in certain blocks in the AutoCAD file. In IV2008 the title block names were changed on export to adding "title blocks" to the beginning. Which I delt with. But now in IV2009 all the TAG names in each block are also renamed on export to adding "_001" to the end of each TAG name. Is there any way to keep the same naming on export to AutoCAD for blocks and sketch symbols so I don't have a write a bunch of script files for the AutoCAD file?

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently upgraded and am trying to Import Raw photos. The are imported into Lightroom but show up as grey tiles and will not open. When I go to Photoshop CS-5, they open fine. I had this problem when I first opened the program and it was a monitor problem. I got it corrected with tech support then and as I remember it was sRGB problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen importing images, the filename prefix, image number, directory, and other attributes are "sticky" between imports (they're remembered so you don't have to enter them again for the subsequent import), however the keywords aren't remembered. I'd suggest they should, just as the other attributes are. Wandering through the discussions, it appears the import dialog keyword field was sticky in 2009. Did it change or is there an options setting somewhere I can't find that would toggle this behavior?
View 4 Replies View RelatedEven if there are NO changes to the settings between individual (non-sequential) images, each import of a camera raw file must be approved by clicking okay for each file. In projects which involve hundreds (thousands?) of unique stills this is needlessly tedious.
Instead, the option of one CR dialogue would suffice that could (again, optionally) be applied to all.Adopting Photoshop’s Camera raw dialogue’s ability to process BATCH images in the window and opening them all in PS seems like a natural solution to AE import hangup.
This should also allow for the option to re-open the dialogue after import on one or more stills to modify the contents and then close.
In addition the fact that AE insists that a still need be at least one full second seems like an unnecessary restriction. Why is it not possible to import an image as just one frame?
The modification I suggest would saves tremendous time and allows for incredible flexibility.
We had an animation project where we have to manipulate1200 stills in After Effects to create an animation. Since the stills were not shot sequentially and the editing/compositing needed to happen within AE, importing as a sequence was not an option. The impediments in basic import functions added a full day's work just to import the files(!). We ended up selecting the images in LR, applying minor correction, exporting the selects as DNG files, importing them into AE (clicking the OKAY button in the CR dialogue for each of 1200 images) then selecting all the images and creating proxies so they were easier and faster to work with. (note: we ended up buying a proxy creator script because AE won’t generate proxies for multiple items in one action)
This is not an isolated case for one project. We require this function all the time. But the tedious importing of 1200 images in one project really broke our moral.
importing Adobe Illustrator files into Maya. Well, now I've solved the problem and was able to export my "South Park" like character (made with CorelDRAW). The problem is that, though the model had colors in CorelDRAW, the model as it appears in Maya, has no colors. It's just curves. How to add colors to the model, while mantaining exactly the same colors it had.
