Photoshop :: CS6 64bit New Install Freezes On Opening On New Windows 7 64bit Workstation
Jul 14, 2013Just installed CS6 on my new workstation and Photoshop; it freezes upon opening.Every other program I have installed has worked flawlessly, including the rest of the CS6 Suite and Lightroom 5.Both Windows and the Adobe Suite have all available updates already installed.Computer is a new HP Z420 Xeon Workstation, Windows 7 Pro 64bit, 16GB Ram.

Jul 11, 2012In Photoshop CS6 (64bit), when using the brush tool (with a brush with pressure sensitivity activated), I quite often get a line drawn at the max width selected, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. Everything goes back to normal after I start drawing another line, and happens again after a few lines. It's quite random. Â

I don't have this problem in any other software (Illustrator CS6 64bit, Painter XII, Sketchbook Pro, Zbrush, ...). I have already checked and I've found some other users on other forums with the same problem.
One example, with a picture of the problem: [URL] Another one, exact same problem: [URL] Some of those users seem to have solved their problem by installing an old driver (6.1.5r3), but they had that problem with Intuos TABLETS in the first place, not a Cintiq 24HD... I have tried that, but unfortunately the driver is not compatible with the Cintiq 24HD.

To test this out: I've been able to reproduce the problem 90% of the times I've tried. if I keep the pen at 1 inch from the display so that it's still recognized by the screen but it's not drawing, then wiggle it a bit, and then I slowly move to the screen and tap it (as if I was starting a line with very low pressure), the problem appears and it makes a large dot, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. As I said the test doesn't work every time, but almost.

I have tried the pressure test in the Wacom utility software and it seems to work fine, it never jump to full even when I try the method I've just described. In the diagnostic page of the Wacom utility software the pressure is always correct, even when in Photoshop there's the brush sensitivity issue.

note: I've already tried to completely re-install my computer + the Adobe software + the lastest wacom driver for my Cintiq 24HD, and the problem is still the same.

Both are referencing cooltype.dll. I ran Font Doctor on all system and non-system fonts and found no errors. Booted without Extensis Suitcase loading. Nothing works. All 32 bit programs work fine.
Photoshop :: Rendering 3D Text
Jun 1, 2012Just a quick question - what does Photoshop CS6 Extended use to render 3D objects? When I create very simple 3D text and render, it's taking about 2 hours or more. In the past (5 or so years ago) I did a lot of computer animation with Maya, Max etc. and with my less capable system back then, each frame rendered much quicker than it seems to with Photoshop. I understand that for animation I was only rendering 1920 x 1080 images rather than my current A4 300dpi ones, but should it really make that much difference? It seems to perform many many render passes before it's done. My graphics card is definitely the weakest part of my system...I built this computer not too long ago for use with CS3 and now it's all about graphics card performance...typical!

Would a 1gb DDR5 card speed up rendering that dramatically? I was always under the impression it was CPU that determined render speed?
Photoshop :: Rendering Text Layer Will Cause Its Layout To Change
Apr 3, 2012I have one PSD that I moved from one Windows 7 machine running CS5 to another. When I open the file on the second machine all of the text layers have the little alert triangle icon. When I try to edit the text I get the message:
"Rendering the text layer will cause its layout to change. Existing pixel data will be used."

The font being used is Verdana - which I believe is native on both machines. There are no faux files applied to the fonts.Both machines are running CS5.
why text layers from one computer conflict with another computer.

Aug 9, 2012i am using photoshop cs6 exteneded since days, and i wrote a text in 3D mode. so after finishing it, i tried to render it. after finishing rendering, i try to save my work, then i get something like "could not save because there is not enough memoryRAM" and after some tries to save it, i get " could not complete your request because of a program error" it always happens. i use windows 7 with intel core i3, 2.13 GHz, and RAM 4 GB

Dec 12, 2012The problem I'm having is that when I try to edit a text layer, the layout of the layer changes completely - I have a grey warning triangle in the affected layer thumbnail that states the following message when I hover over it :

When I double click to edit the text layer, the following warning dialog pops up:
'Editing or Rendering the text layer will cause the layout to change'

I'm forced to click 'okay' to proceed which is when the layout of the text layer changes completely! Obviously this has massive implications for branding and page consitency!!

Now even if I have to do this the long way round, which means rebuilding each individual text layer for every single document, there is another problem, it appears that after I click 'OK' photoshop distorts the text! This means that I can't increase or decrease the font size to match it up! Same font, Same height, same AA, same weight, different circle radius!

I'm using CS5 64bit Cloud edition on Windows 7, I've already tried updating and reinstalling Photoshop but it doesnt remedy the problem, I've reinstalled a sample batch of the fonts affected and deleted any plugins

May 29, 2012Before in CS5 when you click an option, the text would turn white, now they stay black making them hard to see. It seems to be desktop appearance specific so if I change my desktop theme the background color would change making the black text easier to see (text stays black). This seems like a bug, because the highlited text color should turn to white not stay black. Which was how it was in CS5.

Oct 1, 2013Everything looks fine on the screen but when I render the frame I get some kind of strange ghosting, like it can't decide which number(text) to render.
I'm attaching the file and a script that rounds my numbers. You will need to run the script (zeround.ms) before playing the animation and rendering.

The text is manipulated from a script controller. You will find it when you open the Curve Editor in the kerning property of TextCycle001.

The render works only on the first and last frame of the animation and . If I check Manual Update in the Text Property it behaves properly but then I can only render one frame at a time.
AutoCad :: Text Rendering As Union Flag
Mar 4, 2013I am trying to create a company logo and would like the text of the first word to be rendered as a union flag and the second word as the Sierra Leone flag, ie a bold font with just the fill showing the flag.
I have tried putting a flag behind text and trimming so it only shows through the text but not only does trim not work, I cant seem to get a transparent fill for the text anyway. Ive seen an example of transparent text but no instructions as to how to do it.

Apr 2, 2009I currently have a copy of Photoshop CS4 running on my desk top (ordered this online so I don't have a disk). My desktop has the 32 bit version of Windows Vista. I also have a new laptop running the 64 bit version of Vista - with 4G of memory. I wanted to install CS4 on my laptop so I downloaded the trial version and then entered the serial number from my licensed copy to the version on my new laptop.
So, this is where the confustion lies, when I open my new laptop version it asks if I want to upgrade to the extended version - I don't - but it has a green check mark by my license number so it seems to be o.k. But, when I open the application it has 3D in the top bar. What is going on? I don't want the extended version but would like to take advantage of all the memory on my Vista 64bit system.

Now seeing that 64bit gets you more than 4Gb RAM and thats a good thing for Photoshop, is anyone using any version of Photoshop on 64bit XP pro and is it ok ?

There is no tech support if you run it on 64bit. As 64bit Pro and Photoshop are two 'professional' things to have, I am at a loss to know why Adobe have ignored 64bit Pro users.
...and before someone suggests I get Vista 64, where Adobe have looked at 64bit function, its not an option as my serious 3D CAD program company warn me against it, its resource hungry and not good for such progs, this after testing. Also it would be the death for progs I use that are XP ok and not supported under Vista.
I have an 8Gb PC and wish to continue with Pshop.
Photoshop :: Vista 64bit And PS CS4
Apr 18, 2009CS4 and my 64bit system. I mostly work with files in the 1-2MB range, not large by any means. I will process 2 or 3 photos, and close them.. no problem. But every 3rd or 4th photo, when I open the file, or try to resize/crop it, I get the dreaded "not responding" message and end up waiting 30 seconds to a minutes for PS to come back alive. Obviously this is extremely disruptive to my workflow. I have gone so far as to wipe my system clean, but still experience the same problem. It is a fairly consistent issue that always happens when I process multiple photos. Anyone else experiencing similar problems? Is there some obvious solution I am missing? My specs are as follows.. Jan 3, 2009I have a problem with CS4 under XP 64 bit. The 'Enable OpenGL Drawing' checkbox in the preferences is grayed out. I have a Radeon 4580 card which should work with CS4.
I recently had Vista 64bit installed and there was no problem there... OpenGL worked just fine in CS4, just as it should.
But I can't get it working in XP64. I've installed the latest drivers but still nothing.

May 16, 2009*all* of my cs4 master suite works great - no issues on any app - except the 64bit version of photoshop... it wont launch at all - and yes i have the 11.0.1 update (adobe updater says everything is current and file properties verify new version on both 32 and 64bit exes) running as administrator doesnt help either. also problem occurs when win7 boots in safe mode. i'm running build 7100 of win7 64bit and have 6gig ram on an i7 system with a gtx 285 so i'd love to utilize the benefits of 64bit.... when i attempt to launch the 64bit exe i get an alert dialog error saying "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."Â and that's it. never makes it to the splash screen or begins loading any dll, it's immediate error.... and like i said, 32bit version works fine from doing cursory google searches and whatnot, i am led to believe it may be a memory addressing issue which i've been unable to investigate or that perhaps my .net framework was out of date? but i checked the framework issue and win7 includes the newest version...

Jun 3, 2008I have been experiencing constant crashes in Windows XP 64 bit. Photoshop loads but crashes when I open a file. I am using the Master collection and the other software runs with no problem. I have tried repairing the software repairing windows, reinstalling Photoshop reinstalling the Master collection. Reformatting the drive and doing a complete clean install of Windows and the Master collection. Updating all the drivers. Nothing helps, Photoshop works for a while but then crashes for no apparent reason. There is practically no other software installed apart from 3DS Max. If I transfer the licence to a 32 bit machine I have no problem. It even runs well on a Mac under Bootcamp. The machine in question is a standard HP xw8400 with a NVIDA Quadro FX 1500 video card, 4GB RAM and 2T HD space.

May 20, 2009I work with large (5B to 15GB) .PSB files (large panoramas). The good news is that I can read one of the PSB files in a couple of minutes (drives the disks full out). Also, photoshop operations although not fast are reasonable. The bad news: Writing a file to disk takes 6 to 10 hours, occassionally 18 hours. During this time, disk IO is nearly non existent, cpu utilization is less than 1%. I have upped the priority of PS to 'high' and it makes no difference. It makes no difference if whether other programs are running, or it is the only program. I have 16GB of memory, a couple of TB of swap disk space, and about 500GB of free destination space (disk are defragmented)

Jan 22, 2013I work as a graphic designer and illustrator. As such, most of what I do with Photoshop is drawing, using my Wacom tablet and the brush. So I purchased the cloud services a few days ago to be up to speed and have the newest updates and everything.But when I started working with CS6 64bit I noticed how after some minutes working on a file there's just an INCREDIBLE lag on the brush. (usually if I beforehand do several zooms in and out and skip through the history) But I don't mean a little lag, like if I use a special brush with special attributes and it's really huge. I use the standart round brush, not even that big in diameter, (5px) draw, and have to wait several seconds for a simple line to materialize.It's like working in slow motion.

I tried drawing without the tablet to make sure it's got nothing to do with the Wacom Plugin, but no. Even if I use the mouse, it's like this.

It doesn't matter if I restart the system and photoshop just before. Some files I open, and it's lagtime.So now I have to use PS CS6 32bit, because there it's possible to work without the lag. But for some reason the programm crashes from time to time.

Mar 5, 2013I am trying to install Photoshop CS6 on my Windows 8 64-bit PC. While in the loader option I chose both 64 and 32 bit installations, I only get 64-bit to install and work properly, and the Program Files (x86) protoshop cs6 folder stays empty.
I tried to reinstall 32-bit alone, uninstall and full reinstall, I also checked for security permissions in Program files (x86)/Adobe and in Common files which seem OK, Administrators, Creator Owner and System have the desired Full control permissions and finally I apllied the latest adobe_creative_suite_cleaner_tool fix on all products and tried reinstall, to no avail.

The first visible difference is, that the "panel" of the various filters is not displayed when I start PS, but it is in the 32 bit version.Even if I want to apply an Nik-Filter on an image nothing changes, but it does in 32 bit mode.
