Photoshop :: Aged Photo/Video Design
Apr 27, 2004
I wanted to start out by asking if anyone knew of any websites, images, galleries which feature designs which are made to look beaten, old, vintage, dust ridden and just nasty, I'm getting into that whole spectrum of graphic design and I wanted to see some examples, maybe some tutorials or plugings.

The cracks (two levels of texture) are very well done. Lots of the grunge effect. Orange/Red photo filter over the top of it to give it some uniformity.

how the following effects were made on this photo. I remember seeing a tutorial once that achieved this basic effect (which I'm calling a 1970's aged look, for lack of a better term), but I have been unsuccessful finding it. It looks like some Saturation tweaking is happening,

I have 13 pictures of my fellow yearbook staff members that I need aged to look like old people. I am working with photoshop 5 limited addition and I lack the resources to do the job properly. What I need are a few people who are willing to age these photos for me.

comments on this proposed budget computer build for CS6. My budget is around $1500.00 for computer and monitor. I will not be doing any video editing or graphic design on this machine but file sizes could go as high as 200 Mb on some scanned images. My editing is pretty basic and I like to keep layers to a minimum. I am an old timer who has converted to digital from the wet darkroom. Here is what I have come up with so far:
1. Asrock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard $134.99
2. Intel i5-3570K processor $219.99
3. Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1600 memory $159.99
4. Sapphire Radeon HD 6450 1 GB DDR3 HDMI/DVI-D/VGA PCI-Express Graphics Card $39.99
5. Crucial 64 GB m4 SSDs (Scratch disk) $74.99
6. Crucial 128 GB m4 SSD ( Startup disk) $99.99
6. Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB (Data storage) $104.99
7. Seasonic 80Plus Power Supply M12II 620 Bronze PSU $89.99
8. Corsair Carbide Series 400R case $99.99
9. NEC Display Solutions PA231W-BK $518.00
( I have optical drive, keyboard and mouse) Total $1542.99

I understand that there are hues of blues, yellows, greens and reds involved and that blue goes under "Exclusion" under the layer style but I just cant seem to get it to look right.

recently i've seen a technique that gives the appearance of worn or crumpled, aged paper - like a poster that's been shoved in the corner for a few years.

Some of you may have seen my thread in the Show-Board section about a damaged photo I have restored. On the photo there is a lady sitting to the left with a cream/white t-shirt on, I have been asked to try and restore that bit too rather than do what I have done in the resto.
This is all I have to go on:
Here is the original image:
and my Restoration so far:
They want the t-shirt as well but there is nothing to go on apart from some apparent squiggles, as you can see.
how I can extract it, I can't even make out what it says or else I would try and find the t-shirt and put it in.

Any way to transform/rubbersheet a photo/raster so it sticks to a wall i.e. vertically and not just doing it 2D. Trying to digitise photo's taken of walls to work in a 3d model.

I'd like to make a graphic to be used to frame video footage for a music video I am shooting. I'd like for the 'frame' to make the footage look like a 1920's photo that is damaged around the edges. I want to give the audience the impression they are looking at an old photo that has an animated video in it.
I've exported a few samples as a test. The center was transparent upon export, yet became white when I re-opened the image. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The background setting was selected as 'transparent'.

I forgot my login/password and am unable to recover it. Tried having it sent to my email, but it never shows up so I had to create a new account.
I have Video Studio Pro x4
And I am about to start a video for a foster dog I have. Basically, I want to take a whole bunch of pictures (and possibly a short clip or two) and put them into one video and post on Youtube for the rescue to use.
Here is the one I did for the last rescue dog I did when he got adopted and was waiting for his new owners to come and get him. (I know nothing overly fancy, but I am happy with it). [URL] ......
Now, my question is this. Another lady in the rescue did a video seen here: [URL] ........
She zooms in and out of some pictures and I REALLY like that effect. I emailed her and she said she did it on a Mac and it's called the "Ken Burns Effect" Is something like that possible using Video Studio? And if it is, how the heck do I get that to work?

I know that you can do this one by one, but if you don't document the used parts how to identify the used and unused ones?

I can't seem to find any masks, or make a successful one myself in Paint Shop Pro, that creates a white photo border around a video, to make it look like a bordered photograph. All the edges I've made want to let the video show through the white border. How to do this? I just need a white border around a video to appear as if it's a photograph.

I am putting together a biographical video of my wife and myself for our kids (married 50 years). I want to have a video of her (example) sitting and talking about growing up. Is there a way to insert a photo on the main video track and still keep the voice track intact? Example: She is talking about her childhood. A photo apears of her as a small girl while she is still talking. The photo goes away after a few seconds and there she is live and taliking. I hope to get away from using the overlay track.

I'm wondering if there is a site where I can download video/photo masks for my projects. I'm definitely not good at trying to create them myself in PSP, and there are hardly any in the "mask frame" in VS4 (I haven't installed VS 5 yet).

Is there any way that i can convert a video into the jpg format using Video Studio 10+ or Photo Impact 11 ?
( that is apart from the " save as image " in Studio) Like a batch convert job.
Or perhaps a freebie converter out there.

Previous versions of the Photo/Video Bundle included the Ultimate versions of Paintshop and Videoshop.
Looking at the web page and box photo for the X5 version of the bundle, it seems to now include only the non-Ultimate versions.
Confirm that the Photo/Video Bundle X5 has been lowered to the Penultimate versions?

I have a Canon S100 and just started importing photos and video into my LR 4.3 catalog. I convert RAW to DNG, and the Capture Time on the photos in LR is correct. However, the video Capture Time is shifted forward exactly 8 hours. I know how to correct the video Capture Time, but is there anything I can do to stop this from happening in the first place? I looked at what the metadata looks like in Bridge.
PHOTO:
Date Created = Correct Capture Time
Date File Modified = The time I imported the file into LR.
VIDEO:
Date Created = Capture Time + 8 hours
Date File Modified = Correct Capture Time

I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:
PROBLEM:
I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.
As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.
as I have 30 videos to edit, so looking for ways to save time!

When trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.
