View 2 RepliesOne of our employees installed new demo version of Inventor 2012 on my computer and it made a lot of mess as I am running 2009 as well. The whole system got confused so I decided to delete all 2012 inventor related programs in the control panel however I cannot run the design assistant now. When I click on the design assistant it pops up and disappears.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Design Assitant to rename files, but have had no luck with other referenced files.I have followed the Procedures from AutoDesk WikiHelp.
1. Open Top Assembly.
2. In the top browser, I select the part and set Action -> Rename.
3. Rename File.
4. In the bottom browser, I select the file types for additional referenced files.
5. I select (highlight) all the files.
6. Click "SAVE"
When I go to open the files, to check if the changes have been made, obviously to rename works on the Top Assembly,BUT for other additional referenced files, it doesn't.
I am doing this in a Single User Project.Just wondering if there are other steps that need to be done to use Design Assistant properly.
I cannot find why Design Assistant dont want me to use the replace command. i attached a picture.I have a 30 pages idw and i just need to replace one thing in it. I don't believe I need to redo the whole thing just for fews differents dimensions..
View 3 Replies View Relatedi wanna use a existent project to make a new one, i copy all the files that I need to a new project, then I use Design Assistant to rename all files, everything works fine this way. I just saw now a little 'problem' that doesn't bother me, but can be a problem to other ppl who open this project and see the difference.
When I rename the file name from Design Assistant (opening it from the top assembly), all the parts get its PART NUMBER updated and all the files are renamed too, but...when i open the assembly, in the Model tree, no parts have the name updated, all keeps the old name, but if i open the part from the model tree, i open the correct part already updated and renamed, so, its just the model tree displays name that are incorrect. Is that known ? Is there a solution ? Or am I doing something wrong to copy or rename files ?
I realized that is happens most when i rename files from a top assembly with subassemblies. Sometimes when i use just one assemblie with just parts inside it, everything goes normal.
Months ago I downloaded photoshop CS5 by means the assistant.The 1st downloaded file came in corrupted and the 2nd attempt was not different. Both did not run. On that time I employed to download a 3G modem.
People from the support in the forum advised me not to download the files through 3G.Today I downloaded CS6 by means a fast ADSL connection , employing the Adobe Download Assistant.the downloaded finished I ran the installation, which ran normally .
Then as I attempted to start CS6 it crashed.I ask you whether there is any trouble with the setup available to download?
I have the Adobe Watercolor Assistant extension showing as installed in Extension Manager CC. However, it does not show up in my Photoshop CC Extensions. I have quit and restarted PS CC several times. And I have restarted my computer. Nothing works. I am running Mac OS X 10.8.4.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a design at the moment using Inventor 2012.It is a Scissor Jack. It has been designed to specific dimensions.Although I am making up the majority of them as I go along.Dim's spec's of which I must design to are as follows,
Max Height @ Open position = 250mm. (must be kept)
Min Height @ Closed position = 70mm. (must be kept)
Max width = 75mm. (must be kept)
The rest I have been taking from other designs of which I saw during my investigation.I have been modelling in such a way trying to adapt the open & closed position limitations with the use of constraints as my maximum & minimum limits. In doing so I have set a Drive Constraint so I can show the jack in its mechanical motion. I don't mind making any changes that will work to achieve completing it to act as it should. I believe there is still some tweaking to be done to it, but I feel the actual engineering design to be almost sound. There is an issue with the base via support arms. I cannot have the support arms moving past the floor level.
I will need to place location pins through the saddle & base connecting the arms. Finally If possible alter the gear teeth so that they interlink & coincide with each other. My screw rod also needs to work properly & turn also the nut needs to be localised in the correct position fixed on the screw rod at the end of the Side sleeve.
I wanted to use the program to design a robot for our school vex competition. Vex has provided cad files for all the parts. So, how i can import the seperate parts into one design. I can only open each part individually but cant find a way to combine them so can assemble the robot in one design.

I created a design profile and used the copy profile command. I close the layout toolbar of the original design profile.
When i select the copied design profile to grip edit a pvi, the existing ground profile and copied profile disappears and i cannot grip edit.
I have also tested this with an OOTB template.
Question: How to be able to grip edit a copied design profile in 2012.
I have an assembly drawing that i would like to have in the partlist a column with the design state of each part of the assembly, how can i do that, since that property is not in the partlist column chooser.

I would like to simply add them to an assembly in their respective axis positions.
Obviously "place" drops in in an arbitrary position to then be "Assembled". Not what I am looking for.
I was looking for a copy/ paste function between part / assembly but there seems no way to paste into an assembly.
I'm not getting the design levels of assembly, just major offset and elevation, how can i get all design levels from where my assembly is changing and where it is matching to the existing surface, is there any band problem or anything else, im sending the view that how i'm getting my cross section and also i want to know that how can i control text size because it is too big for sections.
View 6 Replies View RelatedDesigning conveyor or assembly lines in autocad? I know there is Factory layout, but my boss will not pay for the extra softwar. She wants me to get them done with AutoCAD. Im not new to CAD, but she needed me to move to working with line layouts. Also what sites and literature can i study to begin to understand the layout process. Im not talking about 3D tools or part design, its all 2D. Im also looking for the in's and out's of laying out a line for food and bottle product lines. Im thinking the equipment will be a block and possibly being dynamic blocks so that i can lengthen and shorten the parts to fit the space.

All of the models I have created have been linked to external spreadsheets at the part and assembly levels. Everything for a complete model is in a single folder, the spreadsheet and all parts, assemblies and drawings. With my previous models I was taking the entire folder and copying it to new locations to make slightly different models. When I would do this all the links of the copied parts were pathing to the copied spreadsheet, not the original, which is what I want. With my most recent model the copied parts are still pathing to the original spreadsheet.
P.S.: I tried to get around this by doing a pack and go and ended up with the same issue.
I am working in IV R2010, and I need to create a new material. I went to the "Help" file, and the first thing it says in "On the ribbon, select the 'Design' tab..." Unfortunately, I don't have a "Design" tab. What am I doing wrong, and more imprtantly, how do I make a new material? Because of the nature of our work here, I only use most of Inventor's features rarely, like about once every couple years, and my one remaining memory cell is usually busy remembering something else...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with getting design views to show up properly in idw's. I have turned off visibility in the model of the parts and patterns that I don't want to show. When I insert a view into an idw using the design view, the patterns are still visible. Take a look at the screen shots. I have patterned hardware and idlers and they are not visible in the model, but they are in the drawing view.

I need to change the status of files from Reuse to Copy, also I need to change the paths to the right ones as the paths that kick in by default when I change the main directory on the top are not right.
Is there a quick way of changing status of all the files to Copy, kinda shift and highlight or the way Vault renames files with Replace option? With big assemblies connected with 10 drawing files doing it all by hand.
Can you edit a drawing view of an assembly and change the Design View via the API?

I'm looking for some direction to follow to modify an existing design. I am trying to thicken left and right walls in order to make the inner section narrower. However, none of my attempts have been successful. I am not looking for learning materials for CAD, but rather a solution to this specific problem.

I am able to test the design by giving a random rotary input to a motor component which features availabe on Inventor.
However, I want to control that input somehow. I just want to enter the final coordinates the design needs to reach and the motors should be actuated automatically so as to reach those coordinates.
I have a MATLAB code for the purpose but am unable to understand how to connect it to Autodesk Inventor.
I have came across a couple that require you to use the design tab but I do not have a design tab. I then try and use the add ins button to intall it but when i click on it, nothing happens.

As of now I have a user form where one can enter a variety of values, hit a button, and it writes these values to a designated excel sheet. My first question is how would I be able to allow the user to change one value and have the rest of the entered values change based on this one value. For example if someone were to change the ID # of a part then the height and width would change corresponding to that ID number and would be displayed in the user form. I'm new to VBA so my thought process is kind of trash at the moment...
My second question is whether or not it is possible to write a vba program/macro that automatically utilizes iLogic Design Copy and makes copies of an assembly and continues to copy said assembly while adding a constantly increasing suffix ie -01, -02, -03... for a given number of times.

I just installed Inventor Professional 2012 64-bit. The issue I'm having is that none of the buttons in the "Design" tab of an Assembly are working. None of the Design Accelerators ie Spur Gear etc. Pressing the buttons results in absolutely no reaction by the computer.
