I am working in IV R2010, and I need to create a new material. I went to the "Help" file, and the first thing it says in "On the ribbon, select the 'Design' tab..." Unfortunately, I don't have a "Design" tab. What am I doing wrong, and more imprtantly, how do I make a new material? Because of the nature of our work here, I only use most of Inventor's features rarely, like about once every couple years, and my one remaining memory cell is usually busy remembering something else...
I wanted to use the program to design a robot for our school vex competition. Vex has provided cad files for all the parts. So, how i can import the seperate parts into one design. I can only open each part individually but cant find a way to combine them so can assemble the robot in one design.
I just made a copy of assembly in Design Assistant.I opened the copied assembly in Design Assistant to make some changes.Parts are accessible but I have only "Clear" option possible. URL....
I'm trying to use iLogic Design Copy to copy an assembly and all its associated parts to another directory. The assembly contains content center parts. Inventor warns me that the destination file of one of the CC parts (and 18 others) will be overwritten. When I go ahead and copy anyway, the copying process stops at that specific CC part. The Design Copy Progress dialog box states there is an error copying that CC part. When I close the Design Copy Progress dialog box, Inventor crashes.
The error copying the CC part: I'm allowed to use content center parts in iLogic Design Copied stuff, right? I searched some related topics and I'm under the impression that Inventor keeps the CC parts in its own directory and shouldn't be trying to overwrite them.
I am attempting to add a material and to select the "Design Tab" except my Ribbon has no such tap. What options are there to get to the material database if there is on Design Tab to select?
I'm having a problem with getting design views to show up properly in idw's. I have turned off visibility in the model of the parts and patterns that I don't want to show. When I insert a view into an idw using the design view, the patterns are still visible. Take a look at the screen shots. I have patterned hardware and idlers and they are not visible in the model, but they are in the drawing view.
I am making a copy design of a big file, two things I need to change manually which takes lots of time:
I need to change the status of files from Reuse to Copy, also I need to change the paths to the right ones as the paths that kick in by default when I change the main directory on the top are not right.
Is there a quick way of changing status of all the files to Copy, kinda shift and highlight or the way Vault renames files with Replace option? With big assemblies connected with 10 drawing files doing it all by hand.
I'm looking for some direction to follow to modify an existing design. I am trying to thicken left and right walls in order to make the inner section narrower. However, none of my attempts have been successful. I am not looking for learning materials for CAD, but rather a solution to this specific problem.
I have made a design on autodesk inventor along with gear and motors which give input to the mechanism. (Stewart Platform)
I am able to test the design by giving a random rotary input to a motor component which features availabe on Inventor.
However, I want to control that input somehow. I just want to enter the final coordinates the design needs to reach and the motors should be actuated automatically so as to reach those coordinates.
I have a MATLAB code for the purpose but am unable to understand how to connect it to Autodesk Inventor.
I have came across a couple that require you to use the design tab but I do not have a design tab. I then try and use the add ins button to intall it but when i click on it, nothing happens.
how do i unlock a design view representation when i can't find where it'slocked. I looked in the design view and i don't see a locked version, viewis listed as "none".
I have two questions - one simple and one more complex, in my opinion. As of now I have a user form where one can enter a variety of values, hit a button, and it writes these values to a designated excel sheet. My first question is how would I be able to allow the user to change one value and have the rest of the entered values change based on this one value. For example if someone were to change the ID # of a part then the height and width would change corresponding to that ID number and would be displayed in the user form. I'm new to VBA so my thought process is kind of trash at the moment...
My second question is whether or not it is possible to write a vba program/macro that automatically utilizes iLogic Design Copy and makes copies of an assembly and continues to copy said assembly while adding a constantly increasing suffix ie -01, -02, -03... for a given number of times.
i have an asm1 that i would like to copy as asm2. identical most of the part except for some parts that i have to replace and use other parts from asm3.
Which is the best method to use, copy design or save as?
I just installed Inventor Professional 2012 64-bit. The issue I'm having is that none of the buttons in the "Design" tab of an Assembly are working. None of the Design Accelerators ie Spur Gear etc. Pressing the buttons results in absolutely no reaction by the computer.
I know this wasn't possible in the past (and probably still isn't now) but does any trick or something to only get the qty/parts used in a certain design view rep.
We are starting to do work orders (routings) with parts lists for ONLY whats used in that step in the process. Having to manually count screws,etc.. seems silly now.
Design view reps works excellent for showing the assembly process of a product but the parts list (even filtered to that design view rep) shows the total quantity of each component..not just the count in that design view rep.
Any possibility of doing this with ilogic or something?

Opinion on the design of pressure vessel with Inventor. If some of you works or has worked in this subject, to know to me that interest has Inventor for the design of pressure apparatuses.
I am working on some codes that let me make some change on visibility of occurrence. So I am I main assembly, and 3 occurrences of the same sub-assembly. The sub assembly was saved on a design view named hole that is hiding some occurrences.
if I work with one of those sub assembly (checkOcc as component occurrence)and then I try this:
Debug.Print("Occurence name: " + CheckOcc.Name) Debug.Print("Is DRV associative: " + CheckOcc.IsAssociativeToDesignViewRepresentation.ToString) Debug.Print("The Active DRV is: " + CheckOcc.ActiveDesignViewRepresentation.ToString) CheckOcc.SetDesignViewRepresentation("Default") Debug.Print("Is DRV associative: " + CheckOcc.IsAssociativeToDesignViewRepresentation.ToString) Debug.Print("The Active DRV is: " + CheckOcc.ActiveDesignViewRepresentation.ToString)
The first time I check for the name, the result is empty, but is should hole as it's what I can see in the browser. then I change it to default. The result of that, the representation views disappear from the browser for that occurrence and still, the name is return as empty...then I carry on with turning on the hidden occurrences.
The result, all the hidden occurrence appear ALSO on the other subassemblies... It look that it's affecting all the Designview of all occurrence of that name...then, if I try the reverse, by turning it off... the switch off on the other occurrences but not the one that is checkoff!!
I still can´t import inventor materials to MaxDesign 2013.
Using STEP or DWG files accomplishes this but due to the fact that i use multi body objects the imported geometry is grouped in an awkward manner (multiple occurences of an object are grouped and i can´t ungroup them).
How to export right?
The issue is quite pressing and my posts in the AREA have not been answered yet. Is it an Inventor or a Max issue?
I am having a problem with the design accelerator in 2014. The tab is there, but I cannot click any of the buttons to actually insert a frame or design some gears. They are all grayed out. The design Accelerator appears to be loaded in the add-ins screen. I am running Win 7 64 bit.
We have to often present our designs at Design Review meetings and currently use the Design Review software for this purpose. We have noticed that the Design Review software rendering is a bit poor compared to the actual Inventor assembly file. Is there any other software we can use to show the design, other than Inventor, as we do not have Inventor in the meeting room?
I am a drafting instructor who has inventor 2013. Want resources (tutorial, instructional video...) explaining how to use "tube and Pipe design" with inventor 2013.
I am working on knockout design by using laser. I need to deside the tab size for different knockout.
If there is a standard for the force it takes to remove a knockout?

I'm new to Inventor. I'm currently having trouble transferring a design from Illustrator into Inventor. My process goes like this: In illustrator I export it as a .dwg. Then in Inventor I create a 2D sketch and click the ACAD button to import it. It works, but not in the way that I want. Only the outline shows up. I want a solid face that I can extrude and work with.
