We have to often present our designs at Design Review meetings and currently use the Design Review software for this purpose. We have noticed that the Design Review software rendering is a bit poor compared to the actual Inventor assembly file. Is there any other software we can use to show the design, other than Inventor, as we do not have Inventor in the meeting room?

tried to install AutoCAD 2012 with SCCM. So I configured an automatic install for it. Tested the installation by clicking the link... everything is fine. Then uninstall and tried to roll it out with sccm: The installation works but there is no shortcut for Autodesk Design Review 2013. Not on the desktop, not on the startmenu Why?
Don't want to do that manually on 40+ computers..
I am currently trying to export models into dwfx format for design review and freewheel. However, I have a problem opening the dwfx files that are 16,000 kb in size or higher. How to make the file smaller in Revit.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use iLogic Design Copy to copy an assembly and all its associated parts to another directory. The assembly contains content center parts. Inventor warns me that the destination file of one of the CC parts (and 18 others) will be overwritten. When I go ahead and copy anyway, the copying process stops at that specific CC part. The Design Copy Progress dialog box states there is an error copying that CC part. When I close the Design Copy Progress dialog box, Inventor crashes.
The error copying the CC part: I'm allowed to use content center parts in iLogic Design Copied stuff, right? I searched some related topics and I'm under the impression that Inventor keeps the CC parts in its own directory and shouldn't be trying to overwrite them.
I am trying to create an image to use for my business cards and I have come up with 4 cards all using the same design. Please let me know which you all think would be better.

Once I used Photoshop 7, my Windows XP can review the thumbnail of the .PSD files. I can see the images from the folder and don't need to open them from Photoshop. But after I installed Photoshop CS3, the PSD files can't review in XP folder anymore. The thumbnails are the logo of PSD and I can't see the images without opening the CS3. How can I make PSD file review as the thumbnails in the XP folder?

When I hit print and go to print preview, all my images are turned on end which makes review difficult. Is there a way to view them as they should be, landscape. In Lightroom, everything is set to landscape and in the printer module, it is all set to landscape. Just in print preview, they are turned on end.
View 6 Replies View Relatedtomorrow I'll have a portfolio review directly on my laptop where's installed LR3. I'll have no internet connection. I saved in a collection set of 4 series of photos that I'll present one by one as separate works, and all of them all togeher are been exported in a new separate catalog.
The photos are named with a custom model which is: data_workname_sequencenumber.DNG
The problem is that I'd like to present the pics in every series in a particular sort order that is NOT related to the star, flag, rate, label, date, filename or whatever other criteria that LR is usually able to sort by. And, far more important, I need to keep the pics in the entire catalog separated by series, I don't want to mess with the series (e.g. pictures of Paris must stay together, and so on, ... at the moment they follow in a filename or date order which does NOT correspond to the wanted order).
I will play the sequence manually full screen (Ctrl+F command) as the portfolio will be as one to one discussion.
I am working in IV R2010, and I need to create a new material. I went to the "Help" file, and the first thing it says in "On the ribbon, select the 'Design' tab..." Unfortunately, I don't have a "Design" tab. What am I doing wrong, and more imprtantly, how do I make a new material? Because of the nature of our work here, I only use most of Inventor's features rarely, like about once every couple years, and my one remaining memory cell is usually busy remembering something else...
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn X5 (not in X4) when double-clicking on a thumbnail in the Organizer pallet, the BLACK control panel at the bottom appears, but the image is either Not There, or the entire screen is a Scrambled Mess! Sometimes (like in the morning after boot-up) it's ok, but other times (like in the evening) there is dysfunction and corruption. I'm wondering if X5 has a memory leak or problem? as I got a Blue Screen last night.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with getting design views to show up properly in idw's. I have turned off visibility in the model of the parts and patterns that I don't want to show. When I insert a view into an idw using the design view, the patterns are still visible. Take a look at the screen shots. I have patterned hardware and idlers and they are not visible in the model, but they are in the drawing view.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a layout for a gravestone in Corel. I sent it to someone who also uses corel draw x4 and corel is changing the font in my drawing. I used fonts Ariel and Palatino Linotype. I don't know if the Palatino is a defaulted font in corel or I downloaded online. I have been doing this kind of work for awhile so I can't remember. I ended up telling her the font and font size for the text and she created it. Then she emailed it back to me for review as I was looking at the email of her printscreens the lines of text had more space between each text line and the dates had more space between them.
She even went so far as to do printscreens of them to review and they don't seem correct. I don't know if this info is useful but I printed from corel and they are priting correctly (line spacing correct, text good). why is corel wanting to change the font. Almost forgot the font corel was changing to was HP PSG which is a font I have in my list of fonts in corel. And it isn't just tjhis file. I created a one line text with a different font and sure enough she told me corel wanted to change the font again. I don't know if it was changing it to HP PSG. I wonder what would it change it to if I remove HP PSG. How do you remove a font from the list??
I am making a copy design of a big file, two things I need to change manually which takes lots of time:
I need to change the status of files from Reuse to Copy, also I need to change the paths to the right ones as the paths that kick in by default when I change the main directory on the top are not right.
Is there a quick way of changing status of all the files to Copy, kinda shift and highlight or the way Vault renames files with Replace option? With big assemblies connected with 10 drawing files doing it all by hand.
Can you edit a drawing view of an assembly and change the Design View via the API?

I'm looking for some direction to follow to modify an existing design. I am trying to thicken left and right walls in order to make the inner section narrower. However, none of my attempts have been successful. I am not looking for learning materials for CAD, but rather a solution to this specific problem.

I am able to test the design by giving a random rotary input to a motor component which features availabe on Inventor.
However, I want to control that input somehow. I just want to enter the final coordinates the design needs to reach and the motors should be actuated automatically so as to reach those coordinates.
I have a MATLAB code for the purpose but am unable to understand how to connect it to Autodesk Inventor.
I have came across a couple that require you to use the design tab but I do not have a design tab. I then try and use the add ins button to intall it but when i click on it, nothing happens.

As of now I have a user form where one can enter a variety of values, hit a button, and it writes these values to a designated excel sheet. My first question is how would I be able to allow the user to change one value and have the rest of the entered values change based on this one value. For example if someone were to change the ID # of a part then the height and width would change corresponding to that ID number and would be displayed in the user form. I'm new to VBA so my thought process is kind of trash at the moment...
My second question is whether or not it is possible to write a vba program/macro that automatically utilizes iLogic Design Copy and makes copies of an assembly and continues to copy said assembly while adding a constantly increasing suffix ie -01, -02, -03... for a given number of times.
i have an asm1 that i would like to copy as asm2. identical most of the part except for some parts that i have to replace and use other parts from asm3.
Which is the best method to use, copy design or save as?
I just installed Inventor Professional 2012 64-bit. The issue I'm having is that none of the buttons in the "Design" tab of an Assembly are working. None of the Design Accelerators ie Spur Gear etc. Pressing the buttons results in absolutely no reaction by the computer.

I know this wasn't possible in the past (and probably still isn't now) but does any trick or something to only get the qty/parts used in a certain design view rep.
We are starting to do work orders (routings) with parts lists for ONLY whats used in that step in the process. Having to manually count screws,etc.. seems silly now.
Design view reps works excellent for showing the assembly process of a product but the parts list (even filtered to that design view rep) shows the total quantity of each component..not just the count in that design view rep.
Any possibility of doing this with ilogic or something?
