View 5 RepliesI installed PS CS6 on my desktop and it opens in seconds, on my 64bit 12 gb ram laptop, it takes over 3 minutes. I tried resetting preferences and disk cache location. CS 5.5 opens in seconds on the same machine. Just installed two days ago, no plug-ins, happened on very first launch after installing.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI'm using Adobe Photoshop CS3 10.0.1.
When launching, the window labeled "Adobe Design Suite Premium CS3" opens - it's only filled with white, and no text or graphics (I think it's usually the window asking me if I want to register, which always comes up when I launch the program (rather annoying in itself). However, now it seems that the launch gets "hung" on this window, as, even the the program starts, all the menus are grayed out, and I can't open any files or do anything. Also, the window mentioned above only has the yellow "minimize" button available in the top left corner, so I can't close it or otherwise get rid of it. Since even the Quit function is grayed out, I have to quit the program with a force quit. Also, this same thing happens in my other CS3 programs (In Design) as well.
I tried trashing the photoshop plist file (com.adobe.photoshop.plist) and also the com.adobe.118.registration file, which had no effect.
I have a client that installed CS6 Productiom Premium with a volume license on multiple Mac Pros and is saying that Illustrator hangs upon launch, meaning, it will take 1-2 minutes to launch the program. Out of all the computers he has installed the software with, one does not have an issue with start-up and launches almost immediately. He is currently looking on his end what is different on that machine compared to the others.
I have walked him through the steps in deleting his Font cache and resetting his preferences and he still reports a hang-up on launch.
He has Mac Pros with Lion on them.
I updated my mac yesterday to Maverick and now Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch. what files I need to delete to get it to launch. I tried reinstalling it, and that didn't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two uninstallers each for Photoshop CS5 (and Illustrator CS5) showing in OS X Launch Pad after a clean install of OS X 10.7.3 and both Photoshop CS5 (and Illustrator CS5).
System status:
17" MacBook Pro (late 2011), Current Firmware updates installed, 240 GB OWC SSD system drive, 8 GB OEM RAM All current Apple software updates and Adobe software updates have been installed.
Troubleshooting attempted:
Disk permissions have been repaired (via Recovery Disk > Disk Utility). Deleted the .db file at ~/Library/Application Support/Dock followed by running sudo killall Dock command via Terminal and then rebooting.
Note - I had rebooted after installing PS CS5 and AI CS5 prior to running Adobe Update Manager and updating to current versions.
I updated from LR 4.3 to LR 4.4 and now I can't start lightroom. It hangs at startup with the LR info tile displayed over the main window. This is on Windows 7 64 bit. Windows also has a hard time killing the app/process. Is it possible to safely downgrade to 4.3 ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just updated Illustrator CC to v17.1 and now it will no longer launch. There is a bouncing icon in the dock for about a second and then no activity, no warnings or errors. My mac is quite old (MacPro5.1 Quad-core running osx 10.6.8) which may well be the problem.Never the less Illustrator 17.0 ran perfectly well prior to the update.
Uninstalling Illustrator 17.1 and reinstalling v17.0 works. If Illustrator is allowed to update as recommended it no longer launches. Is there something in the update that prevents my older spec mac from running it?
Just installed CS5.1 a couple of weeks ago. Runs no problem in 64 bit. But 32 bit is a different story..In Mac, Get info, and set CS5 to open in 32 bit, CS5 launches an instantly freezes with the spinning beach ball.I can't do anything expect force quit.Mac Pro, 8 core, 10 GB ram, OS 10.5x
I need to be able to run in 32 bit for plug-ins that are not 64 bit.
i just noticed that there is no manual update file for ACR 7.2. most of our company computers are offline.
how should we update them without a manual update file?
[URL]..........
adobes says the final ACR 7.2 update is available through the CS6 update.well that is of no use when you have offline computers. This update will be released as manual update file too?! any infos?
When transfering images from Lightroom to Photoshop HDR for instance. message says update Camera Raw. Update attempts all come back to 'update server is not in service' --

I made a change to my materials library. I changed the color (from dark grey to light grey) of one material. I then saved this back to my library.
Now, when I start a new part, I get a warning that the material does not match the library. So, rather than using the material in the part, I opened the template and updated the material to match the library. (Manage >Update Styles).
This is where the problems come into play. In the update styles dialog, if I compare materials against my custom materials and then compare it to my Favorites, it just a continuious circle. It is like the favorites are stored inside the part and do not get updated to match the custom materials library. (I thought the whole idea behind using a library was to get the information out of the parts).
Here is a short video showing what it does. [URL] .....
The only way I can get the favorites to match is to delete the favorite material, update the style and the add the favorite back in. That is a bunch of work. The problem I got with this is that there are thousands of parts that have been created that has this favorite in it. The only way to update these is to open each part (if I knew which one), delete the favorite, update the materials and then add the favorite back in.
I see the same thing in 2013 and 2014.
OSX reports application not responding. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop CC 3 times without any success.
Screenshot shows how far I can get with opening the application. Spinning beach ball takes over.
I can't do any cropping, Photoshop just hangs. MacBook Pro, CS 5.5, OSX 10.8.2, 4GB ram, almost no other programs running, two scratch disks.

I had some difficulty with my initial installations of both Photoshop and Illustrator, where they would both hang very shortly after opening. I thought I had solved the issue by creating an new user account on my machine with administrator permissions, and logging in as that user to run the programs. Now both programs will launch, and Illustrator is working fine, but Photoshop will not save.
I am able to launch Photoshop and do whatever I like, but as soon as I save the program hangs. It does not complete the save. It will take me through any pertinent dialogs before saving, but then hangs. Task Manager says Photoshop is not responding. The only way out is to kill the program in Task Manager. This happens with both the Save and Save As commands, and it doesn't seem to matter where I save the file to. Interestingly, Save for Web works fine.

I have been running Photoshop CS Version 8.0 under Vista for 5 months when all of a sudden I cannot finishing loading Photoshop. It hangs after displaying the message "Reading Text Global Resources...done". I uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop in another directory but it still hangs. Does anyone have a clue as to what could be the problem? Is it a Vista problem or is it an environmental problem? I have 4 gig of memory and 200 gig of free disk space. In a nutshell I cannot get Photoshop to finishing loading.
View 5 Replies View Relatedas my computer always hangs up
in the middle of my Photoshop session.
Simple tasks like copying and dragging texts crashes my
PC and cannot continue unless I have to reset it.
Is it because my PC is Intel Pentium 2.4 Celeron?
I have upgraded my memory to 526MB but didn't help.
Is there any other suggestions, aside from
upgrading from Celeron.
My Photoshop CS3 (Windows XP) all of a sudden takes over a minute to open any file. The programs starts fine, then when I select a file to open, the program pauses, then hangs for over a minute and the photoshop window becomes blank before the file finally appears.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I resize any image in Photoshop, my PC hangs, so that I have to restart it. All other photoshop actions run quite slow compared to other applications.
My PC has all the requirements required for Photoshop.
My PC details:
Windows XP: 256MB of RAM
20GB of available hard-disk space (C drive where photoshop is installed)
I can load an image, do some editing, but as soon as I try to save or save as, the save dialog box flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second, then disappears. Now you can't do anything, program hangs up. I try to end the program from windows, says it doesn't want to end because its waiting for a response from me. It seems like the save dialog box is getting hidden when it shouldn't.

I have been through all the steps here:[URL]...nothing corrupt was found. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop. I've start with ctrl+alt+shift to delete my preferences. I have updated in nvidia driver.
Nothing seems to work. I'm completely stuck. Luckily have CS5 on another machine but this machine with CS6 is a boat anchor at this point.
CS6 and text worked for fine for me for a while. Since it's been hanging it has fixed itself on occaison for a while, but it always starts hanging again and I can't get it to stop now.
I have a new installation of Photoshop CS4 running on Windows 7 in Bootcamp. I"ve applied the latest updates. The program hangs whenever I try to open a file or start a new one.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn Windows 7, PS CS6 64bits hangs onto a side of desktop and does not respond as it launches. No error messages. 32 bits works fine. PS5.5 64 bit works fine. I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 a couple of days ago (jumped the Creative Cloud offer for existing customers) and ever since I've experienced several "hangs" when using the brush tool. In general I can work a few minutes with the brush before I notice that it isn't responding anymore, ie. it doesn't paint or erase or whatever it is I'm using it for. When this happens I can't access the gui anymore and all I have for cursor is the shape of the brush. After that the cursor will turn into that black and white spinning ring of dots and my only way to exit Photoshop is to force quit it.
This happens almost every time I use the brush. The OS X Lion installation is brand new, as is the Photoshop installation. No third party plugins installed (haven't had the time yet) and no third party fonts. I use a Wacom Intous 4 with latest drivers.
I've recorded a short video of what happens (13MB): URL....This is me working on a texture for a 3D model. I have a couple of layers and when the recording starts I am using a mask to blend two layers.
- At around 00:40 the brush stops working so I try to change tool by keyboard shortcut and then by clicking the tool palette.
- At around 01:05 the spinning ring appears and by then I know that I have to force quit.
- At around 01:50 I open up the Activity Monitor (although it can be tricky to read as the Photoshop document refuses to go to the background when the spinning ring appears)
- At around 02:24 the brush starts working again but I still have the spinning ring and I still can't access anything in the menus or palettes.
I spend on a single brush session but I'm not sure. What I mean is that if I start brushing away and simply pause once in a while or lift the pen off the board to start a new stroke it feels like the behaviour is less likely to appear. If I however use the brush for a longer period of time without lifting it or pausing, the spinning ring will most definitely appear. It's like Photoshop buffers all my brush movements and then somehow chokes. I could get the spinning beach ball in earlier versions as well but once Photoshop so to say had catched up I could continue working. Now it chokes and I have to force quit.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've checked the forums and cant find anything quite like this...I've just installed (and updated) PS CS4 on a Vista x64 system - PS opens and seems to run just fine until I go to open an image (any image) - the image comes up but stays fuzzy and the program locks up and has to be terminated... this happens with both the 32bit and 64bit versions. I've tried turning off/on GPU acceleraton - ive tried changing parameters in the nvidia control panel - nothing seems to work... the workstation has two displays with oldish dual Quadro FX 3400 cards (no SLI) with the latest nvidia drivers and they seem to work very well for everything else... its a puzzle... short of trying different GPU's (which I dont have), what can be done?

Installing PS CS4 upgrade over CS3.
Downloaded file unpacks OK, but when running Setup the Checking System Profile bar gets to about 90% the PS Setup window flashes up for barely a second, then the install hangs, ie no further progress with the Checking System Profile (left if for 20 mins or so).
I've downloaded and run a new CS4 upgrade file from Adobe store. No change.
I've added SP3 (was on SP2), no change.
