Photoshop :: Adobe Acceptable Video Cards With Open...
May 2, 2009
Adobe accepts only NVIDIA and ATI series of video cards. I just bought a Sony laptop with a different video card (INDVID-001637-64) with 1.8 GB onboard RAM and with Open GL capabilities but PS CS4 extended 64bit does not recognize the card. Is there a work-around to get PS to recognize this card or am I just not going to be able to use the Open GL for PS. I have been to Sony Vaio to see if there are any other possibilities but can't find any updates that work on my particular computer. I am running a Windows Home Premium Vista, 64 bit system with 4 GB of RAM so I am sure all of that is OK. I just don't know where else to go for information except back to where I purchased the computer. Maybe replace the video board if possible. Or maybe Open GL just isn't worth going to the trouble. Seems like that might be the case also according to some of the discussion here.
Does Premiere Pro CS6 support Open QL video cards in Windows. I am looking at the AMD Fire pro w500 as I want to speed up rendering of Magic Bullet Looks, Colorist and Mojo?
Which graphic cards are supported by Adobe ? I have a set-up including a MacPro and want to start using Adobe's Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4, but when upgrading my MacPro I want to create a set-up that IS supported by Adobe. So therefore I wonder what graphic cards are supported by Adobe.
I'm trying to set up my Dell U2711 monitor for use with 10 bit display (30 bit color) in Windows 7 via Displayport. I noticed that CS6 now has a "30 bit display" option in the Advanced GPU settings, and saw Chris Cox's commentary in another posting that CS6 no longer relies upon the GPU driver to enable 10 bit display. Â Has CS6 changed what video cards are able to work with 10 bit display? Â I know previously it needed to basically be either a AMD Firepro or possibly a Nvidia Quadro workstation class card with their advanced drivers in order to work. Can 10 bit display now work with the more mainstream Radeon HD 6xxx/7xxx or GeForce GTX 5xx/6xx cards? I'd like to buy a more powerful video card for general purposes, but not have to pay the very high price of a workstation class card.
Is it ok to use 2 identical video cards (Nvidia GT 120) in a Mac Pro with 2 monitors and PS? Any benefit or problems from using 2 cards - each monitor getting a seperate card?
There might be instances where I might need to run 3 monitors but it will mainly be 2 (a 21" and 24" NEC multisync's).
I have three monitors connected to two separate graphics cards, an 8800GT and an FX5200 (PCI). Now, this setup works fine in regular XP Pro, with driver 175.19; Photoshop CS4's OpenGL works without a problem save for the brush cursor bug. However, I installed Vista x64 as a dual boot for the RAM boost, and ran into a bit of a wall.
Photoshop now refuses to work at all with the OpenGL enhancements on. It loads (an improvement in itself, used to get stuck at "Reading preferences"), but it'll freeze when I try to open a file or go to the performance settings. I'm currently using driver 171.16; I know it's outdated, but it's the most recent one that works with both cards in Vista x64. I'm also quite sure it's not the problem; Photoshop works perfectly with OpenGL on if I disable the FX5200.
I've tried the registry key AllowOldGPUs_ON to no effect. I've also tried both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions, with no difference. Is it possible to get Photoshop working with both cards, short of replacing the FX5200?

I just set up a new rig (specs below) and everything was going great. I added a second monitor and suddenly PS CS6 starts crashing randomly. I think I discovered that PS will not support a dual monitor config if each monitor is on a different video card.  My main monitor (30" dell) is powered by an ATI Raedeon HD 4850. My secondary monitor (HP Elite L2201x) is powered by the on board Intel HD Graphics 4000 because the display only uses Display Port. Both are supported cards and PS runs fine with either one used independently with or without GPU support.  When I have BOTH connected the Graphics Processor Settings box is greyed out and when I mouse over that section the description box below says "Graphics hardware acceleration is unavailable. You will need to upgrade your video driver and possibly your video card" and the programs crashes randomly. The same behavior occurs regardless of on which monitor PS is being displayed.  I have attempted to tweak BIOS settings to establish a hardware priority so PS would only see one card but to no avail. As this issue prevents me from using my second monitor entirely (I use PS daily), I'd really like to get it resolved.  Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K CPU RAM: 32GB Boot Drive: OCZ 128GB SSD OS: Win7 64  Video card details: Current drivers on both Primary: ATI Radeon HD 4850 Secondary: Intel HD Graphics 4000 (HD4000)
I have been using Photoshop for about 20 years. It isn't our primary software, but it is very important to our business, as some clients do not know how or cannot use Reader. In such cases, I used to save the PDF's as JPG's or other acceptable formats available in the Photoshop program. It was very handy. My old Photoshop was working very well with the XP version of Japanese Windows, even though it was an English version of the program. Unfortunately, I had to upgrade from XP to Windows 7 due to XP becoming obsolete. On top of that I lost somewhere my old disc with Photoshop on it, but I assume that it wouldn't work with the new OS anyway because of its age? I decided to buy a new version and to have a better idea of what it looks like these days, I tried to upload the trial version of Photoshop CC from the net. It went well, but I have a huge problem with it. It is all in Japanese. Although I live in Japan and speak the language, I cannot read the squiggles, especially the professional ones. I need to have all the program commands in E for the program to work for me, otherwise, you will agree, there is no point in spending that sort of cash. Can I download an E version from somewhere? I tried everything, but the only download page I can get from Japan is in Japanese. Will the E version work with the J Windows 7? Is there any way to change the J commands to E?
What level of the ACIS file is acceptable to 2013?
Any converter to change the ACIS level of a file so the wonderuos, up to the minute, top of the line, supercalifragilistic 2013, can import an ACIS file without being a pain in the butt?
What is the point of Xrefs in 3ds Max if disabling the Xref does nothing to improve performance? Apparently everything in the disabled Xref is still calculated, because my viewport performance is crap. So I am reduced to deleting the Xref entry completely in order to get an acceptable interactive frame rate. This defeats the purpose of Xrefs. I might as well just Merge objects in and delete them when they're not needed.
This is 2013, I thought this sort of thing would have been dealt with properly by now. If the Xref is disabled, that means I don't want it to use ANY CPU time or ANY memory. As it stands, the value of Xrefs in 3ds Max is dubious at best.
Pictures shot with a Nikon D300 set to Adobe RGB, _DSCxxx.NEF, open in Bridge with no thumbnails or Camera Raw options and can't open in Photoshop. Photoshop color space is set to Adobe RGB (1998)
For some reason I keep getting crashes when importing HDV (720p60) video into the timeline of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. This has happened on two different machines, with similar specs.  Per the suggested guidelines, here are the specifics:  Version of Premiere Pro: CS6, Version 6.0.5 (001 (MC:264587))All updates have been installed. Operating System: Mac OS X 10.8.5. Source footage: HDV 720p60 video in .MOV container.  Full text of error message: "Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." Link to full crash report: URL....  Crash occurs when trying to import HDV .MOV file. This is a consistent problem when importing .MOV files of this type.  Complete Adobe Creative Suite is installed. Also using Episode Pro encoding software from Telestream to prepare HDV video. No other external video hardware or codecs installed.Yes, I am using the Mecury Playback Engine GPU acceleration.
if it's possible to control a html5 video in Edge ?For example, I added a html5 video with the video tag and I want the video to play and stop after 20 seconds. Then, plays some animation on my edge timeline. I suppose the video must be controlled with Javascript ?
Photoshop CS4 will not open, when I try and open it I get "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a disk error. Photoshop will now exit." Bridge is working fine?
When I open an image in Photoshop CS3, an open box appears and I have selected my image, but when I click the Open button, an error message comes out that says "could not continue with the open command because two or more files were selected for opening at once". So I clicked the OK button and then I could not click all buttons even Close button. I still have to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to close or I have to restart the whole PC.
how to open adobe acrobat reader without having to open photoshop? i keep getting this message when opening pdf files. "adobe acrobat was installed as part of a suite. to enable adobe acrobat, please start another component of this suite(such as photoshop)
I just received Adobe Photoshop Elements (APE) 11 for Christmas. I downloaded with CD yesterday; I downloaded many photos from my camera and everything seemed to work fine. Today, I can access the photos with the "Organizer" and do quick fixes, but I cannot access the full Editor. I am going down to the "EDITOR" buttom on the Task Bar at the bottom of my screen. I click this button and nothing happens. Also pls note that I cannot access the Editor from the shortcut that the installation put on my desktop.Â
I can't open the file Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.pkg. There is a message that says it cannot open this file and that I should eject the disk image. I have an iMac running on Mac OS 10.7.5, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 6 GB of RAM.
I'm creating video clips in Corel Video Studio X4 Ultimate (Education),for use in creating multimedia PDFs with Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
The formats Adobe Acrobat says is accepts include MPEG 4 / H.264,so in Corel Video Studio X4 I've tried selecting the following types of output file:
1) "MPEG4: iPhone H.264 (640 x 480)" My preferred resolution, but Adobe Acrobat won't accept it, apparently because it's "Sony PSP" (according to an analysis by MediaInfo), not supported by Flash, according to an advisor on the Adobe forums.
2) "MPEG4: iPod H.264" (320 x 240) This is accepted by Adobe Acrobat, even though it's also Sony PSP (according to MediaInfo). But this isn't enough resolution for my purposes.
3) "MPEG4: iPhone 4/iPad HD" This is also accepted by Adobe Acrobat, but the resolution is too high (1280x720) as the files are too large.
Since applying the latest Microsoft updates to XP/SP3 last week I can now no longer add Open Type 1 or Type 1 fonts to Fonts in Windows, and therefore can't add more fonts for use in Photoshop CS3. I tried a new hard drive, reloaded with XP/SP3 plus updates and the exact same thing occurs. Any of those types of fonts I try to add come up as corrupt/can't load, when in fact they are not corrupt and the exact same font files load with no problem in another XP/SP3 machine that hasn't had the updates applied, and they also load without a hitch in a Vista machine. Anyone else, who has all the updates installed noticing this? Anyone have a solution? I know that this isn't exactly 100% related to Photoshop only, but it does affect the program.
I have the Adobe Font Folio (Open Type) but I don't know where to start. I do a lot of small ads and so I use a lot of small type.
Does anyone know which fonts in this pack are good for small type? Maybe something thick that will look better at a smaller font size.
I've tried going through the fonts by highlighting the font name in the box and using the arrow keys to rifle through them, but as you know, it highlights what's on the page, making it near to impossible to see how the font would actually look if it weren't highlighted.
I really like Adobe Camera Raw. Is there a way to set the default open options to ACR? I'd like to particularly have jpgs and Tiffs open with ACR.  I'm using PSE11 on Windows 7. My ACR version is 7.1.
I can open one JPEG at a time, or multiple Raw images in ACR.  Have checked other sources including Barbara Brundage "The Missing Manual" but whilst it does not specifically say you cannot, likewise there is no indication that you can.
