Photoshop :: Save PDF As JPEG Or Other Acceptable Formats Available In Program
Nov 9, 2013
I have been using Photoshop for about 20 years. It isn't our primary software, but it is very important to our business, as some clients do not know how or cannot use Reader. In such cases, I used to save the PDF's as JPG's or other acceptable formats available in the Photoshop program. It was very handy. My old Photoshop was working very well with the XP version of Japanese Windows, even though it was an English version of the program. Unfortunately, I had to upgrade from XP to Windows 7 due to XP becoming obsolete. On top of that I lost somewhere my old disc with Photoshop on it, but I assume that it wouldn't work with the new OS anyway because of its age? I decided to buy a new version and to have a better idea of what it looks like these days, I tried to upload the trial version of Photoshop CC from the net. It went well, but I have a huge problem with it. It is all in Japanese. Although I live in Japan and speak the language, I cannot read the squiggles, especially the professional ones. I need to have all the program commands in E for the program to work for me, otherwise, you will agree, there is no point in spending that sort of cash. Can I download an E version from somewhere? I tried everything, but the only download page I can get from Japan is in Japanese. Will the E version work with the J Windows 7? Is there any way to change the J commands to E?

When attempting to save an RGB or CMYK file larger than 100M as a jpeg, an error message appears stating "Could not save a copy as C:(file name) because of a program error". Two questions:
1. Will resetting my prefences affect this error? If I try resetting my preferences, will my custom color swatches and patterns be erased?
2. Is there a known solution to this error?

I just downloaded GIMP 2.8.2 for MAC and I'm trying to export a file to other formats (PGN, JPEG etc. The export image window greys out and nothing happens for many minutes.
I finally give up and I get this error: Saving '/Users/muladhara2004/Desktop/filename.png' failed: Procedure 'file-png-save-defaults' returned no return values

A photo (a complex one with different layers) that was originally saved as a jpeg (100% quality) but after changing its size, saved as a png, is now used on another png photo.
When saving the end result as one photo with the png format as well, is that going to cause problems^^ with regards to print quality or not?
As it basically means a kind of mix and matching of jpeg and png formats.

I am a illustrator who needs to save files in different formats. Like 1 with a watermark, one small one for the website, another one for shop, a pdf file for the prints, etc. Is there a way to do all those things at once? Cause it really takes a lot of time.
Â
I make my illustrations in Photoshop, but if it's necessary to only do those thing in another adobe program, than that's no problem.

I was trying to send a bunch of images by e-mail for my wife this morning. They were images of her jewelery she was sending to galleries.
Â
All but 2 of them I sent as .jpg files (to keep the size lower) but 2 of them were .tif files to start with, and when I opened them in Photoshop CS2 and sized them, it wouldn't let me save them as .jpg files, in fact the save options were limited to a few formats like ,png etc.
Â
I looked for a reason but I didn't see anything different about these files.
Â
They were in 16 bit RGB color mode.
Â
I saved them as .psd files and then reopened them and tried again but the formats were still limited.
Â
The rest of the images gave me the full span of save formats.

There are so many save as options. I'd like to remove some to make scrolling down to the ones I only use such as jpeg, Tiff, PSD etc.
Â
Research brought up this option, but before I blunder in are there any risks to this method or is there another "more approved" method?

I got this workflow,
1) From LR export to PS
2) Do all essential editings.
3) Save. File become 'xyz.tiff' now. (I want to keep this as master copy)
4) Crop to 4r, Save a Jpeg copy as 'xyz 4r.jpg'
5) PS save it as a copy, but do not automatically open the Jpeg copy. The tiff remains opened. I have to manullay Open, browse to it, and open the Jpeg. The 'Open Recent' list also do not list 'xyz 4r.jpg'.
6) Do 4r sharpening for the 'xyz 4r.jpg', save it.
Â
Basically the files I want to keep and worked on is like this: NEF -> xyz.tiff -> xyz 4r.jpg -> xyz sml.jpg(maybe)
Â
Now, it there a way in step (5) to have PS save the JPEG copy, and automatically open it? I don't care if the Tiff copy remains opened or not, I am done with it.

I got a new computer (Windows 7) at work this April and as of today, when I work on any of my JPEG images in PS CS5,suddenly it has defaulted its "Save As" to JPEG2000. How did this default change and how do I get it to default save as. JPEG again? There was nothing I noticed and no warning as to why this has changed, I didn't touch a thing!
Â
(Last week, Adobe had to work with our IT manager to fix a problem that started occuring with my new Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 program. They had to log into my computer and change a registry thing to get it to work properly again...also something that changed without warning!!)

I am trying to save a CorelDraw X5 file in Adobe Illustrator, so I can bring it into Illustrator CS4 to work on it in Illustrator.
It will only save in CDR format. Whatever different file format I try I get a message "No object to Print, Export, or Save" I originally grouped it and saved it in CDR.

I have the following
strFile = ThisDoc.FileName(False) & "-Rev " & iProperties.Value("Project", "Revision Number")ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs(strFile & (".dwg"), True)ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs(strFile & (".pdf"), True)
And it works like a charm for pdf, but it does not export to .dwg?
And also, is it possible to decide where in the name the "-Rev " &iPro....should appear?
Ex. if the filename should be : "12345 - Rev 02 - Section cut"

Is there a way to remove some of the "save as" file formats from the list (when saving a file as...)? After numerous years in my field, there are a number of file formats I have - and probably never will - need to save my files as. If I could remove some of them, then it would speed up my workflow (so that I don't have to scroll down every time I save a file).

From the start, I wasn't able to save to jpeg without getting a dcm extension (no jpg extension). However, if I saved to Multi-picture Format, I would get the familiar .jpg and everything worked fine for a while. This morning I cannot find a file format in "save as" that results in the .jpg file extension.

When I select "Save As" or "Export", the list of available file formats is only a fraction of what the help file shows as supported file formats. The help file instructs me to use the instructions in "To modify or repair a CorelDRAW Graphics Suite installation" but this does not work. How can I get or verify that all the file format filters listed in Supported file formats are installed in my CorelDraw 15?
Right now I am particularly interested in saving a CDR in the Visio (VSD) file format, but I would like to have of them available.

I have a PSD file (16bits/prophoto RGB) with some layers. I combine the layers to ONE and change the bit depth to 8 bits.
Then I do one of two things:
Â
(a) I save the file for the web in JPEG 90% high-quality and with sRGB ... filesize 340 602
(b) I change the color profile to sRGB and save the file as JPEG in the highest quality (10) ... filesize 174 549
Â
I am at loss here. How on earth is it possible that the second file is almost half the size as the one saved for the web? What effect causes this? It is very easy to save for yhe web but as long as the JPEGs are that bigger it's no option.

Adobe accepts only NVIDIA and ATI series of video cards. I just bought a Sony laptop with a different video card (INDVID-001637-64) with 1.8 GB onboard RAM and with Open GL capabilities but PS CS4 extended 64bit does not recognize the card. Is there a work-around to get PS to recognize this card or am I just not going to be able to use the Open GL for PS. I have been to Sony Vaio to see if there are any other possibilities but can't find any updates that work on my particular computer. I am running a Windows Home Premium Vista, 64 bit system with 4 GB of RAM so I am sure all of that is OK. I just don't know where else to go for information except back to where I purchased the computer. Maybe replace the video board if possible. Or maybe Open GL just isn't worth going to the trouble. Seems like that might be the case also according to some of the discussion here.

Photoshop CC is not among the programs listed and Windows won't let me add it to the list. Oddly, Illustrator CC is listed. How do I rectify this? I have Photoshop CS6 installed and that is listed. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.

I am working on many files today and for some reason, even though they are JPG files, when I save them, the dialog box comes up and wants to save it as a PSD. It's wasting a TON of time because I have to change it to JPG even though the file is already. I tried the open as-JPG option on any of them and it gives me the error message of -"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file". I'm in CS6 because there were too many issues with Photoshop CC.

We're having an issue with saving files using Photoshop CS6. Several of our users are unable to save, specifically on our server. They all get the "Could not save because of a program error" message. It doesn't seem to happen on the computers running Lion, but most of the people running Snow Leopard have the problem.
We've tried resetting the preferences, repairing permissions, etc. I read somewhere about unchecking the "ask before saving a layered tiff" button, but none of them seem to solve the problem.

I use Photoshop daily (7.0). Just recently, I tried to save a photo and got the message "could not save because of a program error". After getting the message again tonight, I re-installed Photoshop on a NEW computer, (went from Windows 7 to Windows 8), transferred my images and got the same message. The strange part about this is that only some of my photos can't be saved - even those taken the same day. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
Â
Details:
- they can't be saved in any format. I tried jpeg, tiff, png, etc. Same message for all.
- they can't be saved externally. I tried to transfer them to an external drive and got the same message.
- I tried uploading it to an online editing site and renaming it, then re-opening it in photoshop. same message.
