All brushes have been reset and are set the same. We are running CS5.5 Master Edition on a brand new 27" iMac 3.4 ghz Intel Core i7 Quad core using a Radeon AMD HD6970M.
This is a sample of how the tool is not using the entire diameter. This could be either erasing or painting a color.
the brush, stamp brush and eraser tools are giving me a hard time the actual working area from the tool is so much smaller than the outside frame of it URL....
i'm using cs6.the picture i'm working with was enlarged to 400%.the brush, stamp brush tool was at size: 12px, hardness 100%.opacity 100%
in the presettings i saw the brush was set to normal size.also i played with the jitter sizes, to no avail.
I was using my eraser and airbrush tools on a small image on a larger layer and I moved the image and, after that the eraser and paintbrush tools stopped working on all layers. When I went back to a previous version of the file the tools worked fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a tablet with gimp and I want to be able to set the brush size for the paint brush and also for the eraser, separately. What happens now is that I'll set the paintbrush size to 10px, paint for a little while, turn the pen over to erase and the eraser will now be at 10px. So I'll adjust the eraser size to something like 50px, erase, turn over, and now the paintbrush is at 50px. Grrrrrrr... I tried creating new brushes for both the paintbrush and the eraser, but there's no brush size option. This is my first time using gimp so I'm probably missing something.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis has happened to me a few times. Randomly, when I'm selecting a brush size, the brush cursor will change to a tiny diameter, looks like it's the size of a one pixel brush. Only the cursor is inaccurate though, when I start to paint the actual brush size is fine.
I usually just restart photoshop, but the document I'm working on right now still isn't working right.
My program worked just great, then all of a sudden the paint brush and eraser will not do a thing.

When I first began using this app (and I've spent much time swearing at it with no result) and until recently and in either normal or full size mode showing xhairs and whether I use as paint or erase the effect is always considerably less than the diameter of the tip.
What is with this? I require a tip that goes right to the edge of what is supposed to be the tip...
I have searched google, PDN, and hades for a solution.
I am fairly new to PDN but love it so far.
I am creating a logo for my company and wanted to "cut" an object in half and place a saw blade in the middle (to give to appearance that it was cut). I thought about duplicating the layers, placing them apart and using the eraser or brush to give a jagged look?

I'm using a Wacom Intuos2 tablet with GIMP 2.6.12, and it works fine except as the subject says, the eraser works like a brush. In Photoshop, I don't recall exactly what it does, but I believe switching to the eraser (meaning flipping the pen over to the "eraser" side" switches from the foreground color to the background color, so that it effectively works like an eraser.
How can I do that, or something similar, in GIMP? I've searched everywhere and most of the posts have to do with getting the tablet recognized (check) and implementing pressure (check).
I must have fat fingered something and I now when I click on the Eraser Tool or the Brush Mask Tool instead of getting a circle or square, I get and icon of the tool instead. They still work but they're harder to use without seeing the circle or square depending on what's selected. I've been using Corel for many years and never had this happen and I can't figure out how to switch back.

All the tools on my toolbar are working/acting as the eraser tool, ie. attempting to crop erases, using the type tool erases. I've reset the tools and tool presets but the issue still stands. I am not in quick mask, the issue starts immediately when I open Photoshop.
Would like to add improvement to assit drawing in Photoshop
1. flipping wacom pen to pressure sensitive eraser photoshop switch to eraser tools, but the top menu did not switch to eraser properties
* would like switching to eraser tip, top menu also change to eraser options together, when flipping back to pen's tip, photoshop auto switch back to previous tool options this implies current workflow would be drawing and erasing with toolbox or shortcut B, E together with wacom pen tip rather than quick switch to eraser side. (if you need to change eraser options)
2. Photoshop CS5, CS6 for windows, while using wacom eraser tip to change Size or Hardness slide bars from the top, would remove the integer number inside the dialog, it causes a dialog would pop up with "An integer between 1 pixel and 5000 Pixels is required. Closest value inserted."
Click OK and popup will disappear, Size/Hardness would be filled with correct selected number again, it is troublesome, as size and hardness changes a lot while drawing. have to keep clicking OK on every changes.
(on screen opacity and flow slidebars works fine) Same changes to Size/Hardness slide bar work with normal pen tips side, and if using pen tips alone, (not using eraser tip) it is wonderful with new brush size & color picker shortcut added from CS5
#2 has been tested in mac version photoshop CS4, both Size and Hardness slider works fine without problem.
#1 + #2 made me work with pen tip + hot keys B,E all the time, eraser side is almost not in use, except erasing with the same size & hardness from last used
Everything will work fine for a while, then all tools will stop working and the only thing i can still use is the eraser. If i select another tool, it selects it on the toolbar, but its still just still the eraser. The only thing i can do is shut the program down and restart it. I have tried reinstalling and this makes no difference, same with restoring all defaults. It DOESNT do this in cs5, just the latest version. Do i need to just ditch the latest photoshop and go back to cs5?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the attached photo, I've already done some transforming and cropping to the get the top of the photo to be relatively straight.
I'm pretty sure what I need to do now is find a way to get the lower left of the photo to be pushed down and to the left to both: stop the appearance of that side of the photo jutting out more and to straighten out the white sign that says SOHO NOW OPEN so that it's flush with the top. However, I've tried all the transform tools and none of them are making that happen for me.
No matter what tool I'm using, when I change the diameter or size of my brush, it doesn't show me the apparent difference in size. Usually there is like a ring or circle that changes size that hovers over the mouse cursor to show the difference in brush size. But, it just remains the same size and I can't see how big or small my brush is when Im using it. It doesn't matter how much I'm zoomed in or out, either. I tried restarting my program as well. Im using Photoshop Elements 9.

The eraser tool is available in Designer Pro X, and Photo & Graphic Designer 2013 And the Shapebuilder is available in Designer Pro X
To start things off here are a couple of handy tips:
You can force the eraser to produce an opacity mask and non destructively edit vector shapes in two ways. 1. set some softness or 2. group your vector object with it's self.
You can use the H key to toggle the node view on and off . If you have Designer Pro X the shift key toggles between the shape builder and eraser tool for handy editing.
if i choose the brush, penicl, eraser, no matter what size i use, all i see on the screen is as the screen shot below.
Why am i not seeing the actual size of the brush/eraser & pencil?
For some reason photoshop at times will only let me erase or draw within the confines of a specific layer. It seems to happen randomly without me accidently hitting a hotkey of some sort.
For instance in the image below, I was drawing and randomly I noticed I could no longer draw. It would only let me use the brush/erase tool within the confines of the line work I had already established. The only way I have been able to correct this so far is to completely restart photoshop.
what I'm trying to do is make a selection and, with either the paintbrush or eraser, put a single coat of the selected brush texture on that entire selection.
I've downloaded some really great brush sets and I want to apply one of them to the whole canvas as if I've painstakingly gone over the whole canvas and applied one coat of the paint brush or eraser. All the Google explanations refer to the smart brush which I can't seem to find. Perhaps its no longer in CS6?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly my CS2 has started to act up. First, after opening a file and start to do a background erasing, the brush shows up as crosshairs.
after a brief time of working with those limitations, when I click on the downdown menus, they get highlighted, but nothing drops down. If I try to close the file or the program, all I get is a warning "ding".
I've been using Ps CS5 with a wacom graphics tablet on my mac for over a year now, and have been unable to use the brush feature for the entire duration. With or without the graphics tablet, brush strokes come out as pixelated. I've gotten around that by using the mixer brush instead, which doesn't come out pixelated. However, that's pretty limiting.
I've trained on Ps with a graphics tablet on other computers prior to owning it without this problem and researched on forums to no avail. I've reinstalled both the tablet and Ps and had no luck.
After I alt/click to select the color for the brush, the entire image moves with the mouse.

the circle that outlines the size of the brush has disappeared, so all i have is the little + sign.
i tried cntr+alt+shft at start to reset it, but its still the same.
How do I get the paint to cover the whole diameter of the cursor? I've tried going to the prefs.
View 17 Replies View RelatedWe have 1 machine in the office that when using super hatch it will not "hatch" the entire area as one hatch, it breaks it into separate image based pieces. The rest of the office, it hatches as one entity so it can be changed easily. Even if we use the group command, it will not group them.

I have just loaded photoshop CS4 as part of the master collection. When I use any of the brush, dodge, burn or other similar tools the brush starts to disappear as I enlarge it eventually disappearing. Even though this happens the tool still works even though most of the circle around the brush area is missing.
