I often draw freehand onto a piece of paper and then scan the completed sketch, to change size and clean up sketch lines and then re print...I've recently tried pant.net and i was wondering if there is a tool that cleans up extra sketch lines? as most of my designs are basically tattoo designs, i need to make sure the lines and everything is perfect before taking them to a tattoo artist?
View 2 RepliesI am having trouble when tracing a sketch to convert it to vector. I have tried scanning it into photoshop first then exporting it to illustrator, and also just scanning in as a jpeg and opening it in illustrator.
The trouble I am experiencing is that the lines are not clean, but appearing very grainy. When i choose Fills I get the best result, but with Strokes i get 2 thin lines and obviouly no fill.
Either way I can make the color of the lines all the same, but am unable to create objects within the lines to fill with color, such as face, sunglasses, etc. I can do it with live paint but I know there are other ways to color in files in AI.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a very large and complicated file from a civil engineer with way more information in it then I need. I want to pull layers I need out of the civil dwg and into a new dwg.
A few problems with the civil dwg are, all lines not in same x/y plane, everything not at 0,0,0, layers need to be combined, layers need to be purged, etc
Would just copy and pasting the layers I need into a new file be a good way to approach this?
When plotting any IDW files to our full size plotter, I have ghost lines running through the drawing (lines that are not present in the drawing, on screen or preview) alomost like the plotter is printing extra extension lines on the drawings, overlaying 2 sheets on 1 drawings and even moving some text on the drawings. I have all the SP's and am lost. I can move to another computer and print drawings fine so its not a plotter issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using 2013 and have a few 3D objects in the modeling space that I am using view base to put different views of each into the paper space. When I do this and export to PDF, I get an extra green line from the paper space. I have deleted and replaced the view and have tried different views with varying sucess.
Some pieces simply need a different view, however I have one that will not go away. The different view does really solve the problem either because I need the view with the problem. I have attached a picture of the issue, but it is just a chunk to protect information that I cannot share. The gray in the drawing is the part, the green line should not be there. The green line only shows up on the PDF, not in modeling space or paper space.
I have a 4" pipe tee that was imported to IV from a neutral format ( I don't remember which one. ) In the end view, there are always extra lines showing extending from the branch of the tee.
I can hide the lines, but that then hides the edge lines of a plate welded to the tee branch. Files are attached

Is there a way to remove the extra sash lines which, in plan, are meant to represent the sash below the cut plane? I want to keep the sash "nub" at adjacent to the frame, but remove the lines which run parallel to the glass.

When I use the built-in dwg to PDF for publishing multiable layout tabs I somtimes get extra and/or missing lines and objects on the PDF. When in model space no extra lines a present or missing. Everything is where it need to be. Same goes when a review the drawing in layout before I publish to PDF.
When I publish to paper its fine, no problems.
I've mapped a grid onto a sphere. The latitude lines look fine. But the vertical longitude lines come out wiggly!
I've tried different sizes of the grid graphic. I've tried rendering preference quality and rendering the file.
i have some overlapping lines which are in different layers. i want to clean them up, but wants the cleaned line to be remained in a specific layer. Can i know or change which layer will the cleaned line be remained in?
or can i simple select the duplicate line instead of deleting them?
Is there any way to make 2 to sketch lines instead of floating lines so that I can dimension them?
For example, if I have a part that can change lengths and I need to print off a new drawing, it would be good if I could say that the lines were a set distance from each end of the part or some features of the part.
Then I could update the part length, then just open the part drawing and not have to adjust anything.
I am starting with a scanned pencil drawing, which often has very broken, rough lines, no matter how dark or clean I try to draw. I am looking to turn these lines into clean, solid lines, of one uniform color, for use in another program which relies on completed loops and no breaks in lines.
I've tried tools such as Trace Contour, but this isn't doing quite what I'm looking for. I'm very new to Photoshop, so I'm hoping there is something I am missing. Something like the magnetic lasso would work wonders, if only I could brush that line instead of making a selection.

I just downloaded paint.net after about 6 hours of trying to accomplish my goals with MS Paint - this is a LIFESAVER...I can't believe I didn't hear about it earlier. It's allowed me clean up a scan of a plat map 99%. The only problem that I have now is somehow the black lines got changed to black and shades of gray and I'd just like to clean it up some so that it doesn't look so....jagged.Is there a way to reduce the color pallette to about 6 colors? Or is there a better way?

When I use the magic wand and delete the background, it has very jagged edges and a lot of pixels that don't clean up. I tried using the eraser to clean them up, but it looks awful.

Some of them are really not well scanned, and really hard to read, I managed to correct partially some of them with Paint.net, so I figured If I could have some kind of script that would Darken the Gray part of the Text and another one that would narrow the line so it become more readable .

My Vista system has developed a few bugs which are not cured by Norton 360.Dragging a window causes it to maximize in a few programs PASTE does not work in some programs -- including X4..The CROP tool stopped working in X4 but is OK in X5 High-lighting is erratic in WORD etc.
I can only run a "clean" install from my OEM disk which means reloading all applications. I was wondering if I should give up and install Windows 7.
What has been your experience with Windows 7/ Did you do a "clean" install or just the update.
Cant figure this out - I create a sketch in a drawing, but I cant see the lines as I'm drawing them. The lines are on a "solid" layer set to red as defined in my standard. The background of my drawings is black. When the line command is done, the line appears and it's red. Problem is I cant see it as I'm sketching. Is there any way to modify this? Can I have the line appear red (or white) as I'm sketching?

Can't use the sketch b/c there's probably a gap in the outline, is there a quick fix?
(Did the entire thing in snap to grid, was hoping there's a function to either connect lines all at once, or ignore Extremely small gaps).
In sketch mode, there is a function to split lines, but I don't see one to join lines.
(I'm talking about colinear lines with the ends touching - I want to convert two lines into one).
It may seem trivial, but I'd like to use these lines in frame generator to select by a single line and not by endpoints of two different lines. Less clicks and more consistency in my model.
When I am in sketch mode I can draw a rectangle and when I go back to dimension it it only adjusts that specific line and not the connecting lines. Is there a setting or command to fix this?

Is it possible to clean up all "sketch" lines in this image, leave just the skull (with teeth) with smooth and dark lines. I want to turn this into a logo.
I can make this image black and white then quickly get rid of the red. I'm just looking to get rid of the gray sketch marks and make it all one solid black outline while keeping the lines the thickness they should be as to not alter the picture.
I know about the pink lines, green lines, and black line, but I recieved a part from another person and it had red lines for the sketch, how, what did he do to get those? He doesn't know how he did it.

I opened a part today and noticed that it had collapsed into itself.
This should be a rectangle 85x15.75:
On closer inspection it appears that the vertical lines somehow became zero length lines. Why does this happen?
Edit: I should mention that I was able to repair the skecth by making the 85" dimension driven, then dragging the line over...
I am having problems with lines disappearing in a sketch randomly. I am in a small assembly, going in and out of sketches used for machining, and then the sketch lines and dimensions will all be gone when I enter a sketch. If I hover over the sketch in the browser I can see the lines highlighted, but when I remove my mouse the will disappear. I cannot interact with the lines or dimensions at all. If I draw a new line, it immediately disappears. I have tried changing some things in the view tab and settings but haven't had any luck.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an oddly shaped flat plate extruded from a sketch, the sketch of which has lots on constructions lines, none of which actually represent solid edges of the plate. However, I want to locate the plate to other components via the geometry defined in the sketch.
I find that when I am trying to constrain the plate to other parts none of the sketch geometry is available to me. Points, lines, construction lines, circles; I can select none of it when constraining. I am confused. How can I constrain such a part?
Just to clarify - the flat plate is the base of a structure. Its profile is decoratively shaped, so nothing about the cut edge of the plate is suitable for constraining to. I need to constrain off geometry defined in the sketch.

I have created a chassis wireframe using 2D and 3D sketches. In frame generator, I am able to insert frame members on the 2D lines, but not the 3D lines. I can put frame members on 3D lines ONLY if I use the "insert members between points" placement, but then I can't merge several members together to create 1 tube (can I?).
How do I put frame members on 3D sketch lines using the "insert members on edges" placement?
OR
How do I merge tube members when they are inserted using the "insert members between points" placement?
