I don't even know where to begin to create an image of the Simon game (you know....push the correct light in the right order).
Can anyone give me a tutorial link to something I could easily modify to make this background?
I'm trying to create a skybox (basically, a giant hollow cube that goes around a map to give the impression of a sky) for a game.
However, I don't know how to create a good sky and such that fits within the template and looks smooth all around.
Basically, the template is as follows: (note: this isn't actually the template. Each side is uploaded individually. The template is to show the wrapping.)
So how would I create a good, realistic sky that wouldn't look messed up at the corners or not matching up at the top or such?
I make game textures. What I want to know is if there is a plugin that can create an alpha fade? So that, lets say, on the left side remains no alpha, but heading toward the right is a gradual fade into alpha.
The regular transparency plugin allows either the entire image or a selection within the image to become alpha. A way to simulate this is to make an image half black and half white.
Next select gaussian blur to have both sides bleed into each other from white to black then click black to alpha plugin in and that creates a fade from white to alpha. An alpha fade from the white to the black side of the image.
But I was hoping that there is a plugin that could ignore colors and create a gradual shift into alpha from one side of the selection to the other.
For a while now, I've been trying to shell a split game controller that will create the bottom part of the casing. However, every time I try to shell, a problem occurs "Modelling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs".
I've tried to find the source of the problem through supressing features, and when it finally does shell, the casing creates another problem that will not allow me to loft to get the proper appearance.
I'm trying to create a high resolution version of a low resolution texture used in a game. I've found a pattern that I think is acceptable, from a real image. Now the question is this: how can I colorize the large image to that it is as resemblant as possible to the original one? I've tryed a simple colorize, but the result is not so good...

how can I create a icon easily for free version app base on original icon like in attachment ? Is it possible to create such icons by a script in GIMP?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create icons (.ico) files in Gimp and I am looking forways to preview the result directly in gimp.
To do this I'm currently using the "New view" functionality where Idisable most things (layer boundary, rules...) to display the image inits original size (100% zoom). I also selected the Padding coloraccording to the background of the image to visualize it in proper context.
The above setup works fine for images with a fixed background color, butnot so much with images that have a transparent background.
From what I was able to figure out, the only place where you cancustomize how transparency is displayed is by going to Preferences >Display. However, changing these options affects all open windows an notjust the current view. In addition, the possible choices for howtransparency is displayed are somewhat limited (no colors other thanwhite, gray and black).
With that said, is there any way of previewing the image while beingable to customize how transparency is displayed?
I recently purchased this computer. It works great. Want to take it on our RV trips. problem is I installed my Paintshop X3. Went in w/o a hitch. Now if I clickon a desktop icon ,which replaces a stock folder,The X3 will open up. Also if I open any of my picture folders it will do the same thing. I do not have this problem on my 32 bit desktop. One other point. I uninstalled (Complete), reinstalled>> Then uninstalled , and installed the X2 Same results . I have looked at all of the preferance settings, sure there must be one to solve this problem

i'm trying to make a XMB icon's for my Playstation 3. I have all the cutouts and everything but I want to add textures to the shapes eg Controller shape, the house shaped (uh, shape) etc. WITHOUT overlapping the texture, and going straight into shape with the pic. Is there any plugins or such to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to create custom shortcut arrow for icons the default shortcut arrows in windows vista are huge you can use the program Ultimate Windows Tweaker UWT v2.2 (to clear off the shortcut arrow completely) or Vista Shortcut Manager to give a beautiful blue arrow
I am going to show you how to do it with xara
1. make a 256 x 256 pixels (px) square (very thin line 0.5 px , no fill)
2. draw an arrow inside in the left down corner
3. give it a drop shadow if needed
4. export as png
5. use program Iconfx

or
[URL]....
6. open the png in iconfx (drag and drop)
7. a "new image dialog box will open" click ok
8. advanced import dialog box: click ok
9. untitled with the png image in 48 x 48
10. now click the windows icon in the toolbar, that will make the icon
11. save the icon in a folder - give the name empty.ico
12. go to C:WindowsSystem32
paste and replace the the empty.ico which is in that folder (if you want backup the original one rename it to emptyoriginal.ico then restart explorer
this empty.ico is an overlay above any shortcuts for applications, files etc.
Now you will be able to see the custom made shortcut arrow over any shortcuts
I was messing around in PSP X4 and somehow managed to mess up my toolbars. Specifically, the STANDARD toolbar now has no images. I've uploaded a screen capture to show you what that looks like.

I just installed PSP X5 Ultimate (full install). After it completed it installed an update. All appeared to go fine. I opened the program and went to EDIT. I am familiar with PSP as I have used a number versions up to X2. The first thing I tried to do was crop a photo. The crop tool buttons are not correct. The "Apply", "Crop as new image" and so on under the crop area window are not correct. I see a square of colors. I see the same thing on the main tool bar for the "Copy Special" function and the "Share" button. There could be more that I have not discovered yet. I rebooted and tried again, but get the same thing. Also, the button icons look different each time I load.

Across the top are the icons for " Edit Selection, Show/Hide Layer effects, Link/Unlink, Lock/Unlock, and Layer Styles".

Searching for how to simply, quickly smooth round edges, I learned a lot of other things I'd been wondering how to do in PDN. But I didn't find a simple way to smooth round edges of non professional grade (not art) round outer edges. Say, for a Windows icon.
Even drawing the circle on a 32 x 32 background, when saved as png then opened in Greenfish Icon Editor & converted to ICO, the real icon (say on desktop) is still a bit jagged in places. The points at 0, 90, 180, 270 deg are obviously flattened & rest of circumference is a bit jagged (not terrible, but...).
I tried several tools to smooth edges a bit, but of course pixels are square... Read numerous posts - like [URL].....
This WAY overkill for what I'm doing - right now. Useful for later. All I want is circles or rounded corners on simple objects w/o spending much time - not for this type stuff. I learned good techniques useful for higher quality work.
PDN doesn't seem to have a simple, quicker way to half decently smooth circles / corners. Everything I tried just followed the square pixel edges or is quite tedious. Greenfish has some pretty decent tools - for making icons. But, smoothing rounded edges for something in the 32 px wide range is still pretty time consuming. Needs an algorithm to smooth circumferences.
I am trying to make pretty icons. These are non regular shapes.
Simple case: I have a red circle
I want to select a band say 6 pixels thick all the way around the circle
Now i need to fade from the inner edge of the selection to the outer edge so that completely transparent
I am left with a red circle that fades out perfectly and will sit over any background.
Firstly how do i make such a selection? effectively what i want to do is select my shape and then make a buffer of it?
Secondly how do i do the fade part?
If see the symbols that get installed by google earth (or any other nice non square/circle symbols) you will know what im trying to achieve.
I can do these kind of fades quite easily for whole images or with gradients for regular shapes but for something like the shape of a person or car it gets more difficult!
Where I can get copies of the plugin icons used for the individual Adjustments/Effects in the Adjustments and Effects menus ?
I would like to use the icons on my own collected plugin help files as a mnemonic device to keep my help files organized. (e.g. Is this Outline Selection or Object ? BoltBait, pyrochild, or Aziz ?)
I tried using IcoFX to extract the icons from the .dll and .exe files in Paint.Net installed on my computer, but I only found 3 icons: the main Paint.Net icon and 2 other icons that seemed unrelated to the plugins menus.
I was searching for capabilities to zoom in and out on a graphic and my search led me here. I just want to find out is Paint.Net is a library that can be useful to achive what I want. Here is a brief description of the task:
1. I need to develop a small application designated to conduct a survey of all the workstations in a company. The surveys will be conducted on tablets. Because our expertise is in .NET platform, we need to implement the application for Windows-based tablets;
2. I start with a bunch of floor plans (CAD drawings that can be formated in .bmp, .jpeg, .tiff or any other graphical format you can possibly think off;
3. As the surveyor walks around the offices, following the floor plan that was selected on the tablet, he/she needs to click on the floor plan and through a small form that pops-up, indicate whether the workstation/office that is surveyed was empty or occupied and if it was occupied, whether the person was on the phone, on the computer or in a collaboration. Simple checkboxes.
4. When a workstation was surveyed, I need to place a flag or a letter on top of the floor plan, just to indicate the location as being surveyed (floor plans can have up to 250 workstations and offices, so it's easy to miss some).
5. Because the floor plans tend to be huge, fitting all of the graphic file on the screen of a tablet may render the plan unreadable. So I need to build zoom in , zoom out capabilities. Pinch zoom in/zoom out, the iPad way, would be fantastic, but I need to find out if the tablet (Samsung or HP) supports that. Meanwhile, I can add scroll bars to move different areas of the plan into view and a slide control to zoom in and out.
My questions:
- Does the Paint.NET library have any functionality to allow me to zoom in and out of a graphic?
- Can I add icons (or letters - 'C' for on the computer, 'T' for on the phone, 'X' for empty) on top of the floor plan? I need to place them at the location of a click on the plan (need to get coordinates for that) but also need to memorize them so that if a certain area is taken out of the view and then brought back into view, I need to redraw all the icons/letters so that the surveyor doesn't survey the area again.
- Finally, at the end of the survey I need to print the entire floor plan and add all the icons (or letters) on top of the plan, to give the manager an overview of a snap-shot of the floor at a certain time of the day.
Can I do all these things with Paint.NET?
In my version of X6 32-bit, there is a problem with the icons in Print Layout, they're not the normal icons, but one's used when tying as script to an icon.
I have re-set X6, using the Shift key method, but the problem is still there. I can use the menus and print, but those icons don't belong there.
Problems with seeing the jpg icon previews? The cdr icons preview just fine.
I have 3 computers and it's doing the same thing on all 3. I'm using WIN7 64bit, Vista Ultimate 32bit, and CorelDraw X4. I have all of the Windows and CorelDraw updates installed and I've even uninstalled and reinstalled multiple tines.
I'm trying to customize the Layer Palette with icons that I mostly use but it does not work. It have been possible in all previous versions. Is it just me or is it a bug or something new that we have to live with?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am sure i saw that somewhere but how do i get the icons to show back instead of the bare text list of the drop down menus? In the old versions, it was easier to find my way around if i had to change version and the list might not have been in the same order, or if i was making a tutorial and someone had a PSP in a different language; i could just display the icon instead of the name for the other person to be able to identify which tool i was talking about. But in later versions, they are gone. How do i get them back?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy floating toolbars have the icons across in a horizontal straight line, but every time I open PSPX4 they are stacked 2 rows or more. I have to readjust them every time. It remembers where I had them placed but doesn't remember they are horizontal and opens them with the icons vertical. This is with SP1 installed. I don't know if it did that before SP1. Don't have this problem with X3.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I use the cropping tool the floating tool bar has blank icons on it. Sometimes there may be lines in them like they tried to load but most of the time they are just completely white.
They still work and everything but you have to run your mouse over them and wait for the box to pop-up thats says what it is to see which one you need.
I've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question on color numbers
My i1/X-Rite shows a table, after profiling, of the color numbers set in RGB, the color numbers expected in LAB, and the color numbers measured after profile/cal, again in LAB. One of the numbers with the greatest difference between Expected and Measured out is pure Red, set as 255,0,0 in RGB. The measured error value is, in percentage, 1.14%. Now here's where it get curious.
When I open PS and set a Color fill for 255.0.0 RGB, the resulting LAB is nowhere's near the one's indicated in the table as “Expected” as below:
X-Rite Table
RGB= 255,0,0
LAB Expected:
L 56
A 80
B 66
Photoshop Fill
RGB set to 255,0,0
LAB Numbers
L 61
A 127
105.
If I set the Expected LAB values, in Photoshop, of course, RGB is not 255,0,0 and to see what the differences are, I did both sets of LAB values, set one image as a layer over the other and went to Difference. The result was a muddy green, like old pea soup.
In case you are wondering why I am doing this, it's because on a particular image with ample dry grass in the image, the difference between the print and the screen is noticeable, if on the subtle side, so I make a correction using Selective Color, Picking the middle gray and moving the Cyan slider -3, which then produced a print extremely close to the screen; -2 would be better.
It would be nice if all I had to do is to save this Selective Color setting and use it when I print on my basic paper. It may also simply mean I should profile the printer as well, and I will do so. But it nags me to see what X-Rite calls pure Red and Photoshop shows as pure Red, both set at 255,0,0!
