GIMP :: Stretch 471 Pixel Wide Logo To 2500 Pixels Wide?

May 4, 2011

I have got a logo that is 451 x197. It has a resolution of 72 px. I am trying to increase the resolution so that I can use the image for business cards and letterhead.

I need for the image to have a width of about 2500 pixels. If I scale the image to 2500 pixels the edges look pixelized or blurry.

My question is: Is there a way that I can make the 471 px logo stretch to 2500 px and still have sharp edges?

Photoshop :: CPU And Paintbrush / Blur Brush / 300 Pixels Wide?

Jun 3, 2012

I've been a Photoshop user for close to 15 years. I have ver. CS2 and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core CPU 4200+ 2.21GHz CPU /1GB RAM (6 years old along with the version CS2 running WinXP SP3) I plan on upgrading this year my hardware, OS (to WIn 7 64-bit) and the Adobe Production Premium suite to CS6 (After upgrading to CS5.5 since I am ineligible for the upgrade from CS2. )

One of the things that has always bothered me in Photoshop CS2 was when I set a paintbrush or a blur brush to 300 pixels wide and I'm working even on a small 4x6" 300dpi canvas If I make a brushstroke it takes seconds to make a rendered stroke. I plan on doing digital paintings with a Wacom tablet 8x10, 11x14, 16x20" in size with Photoshop CS6.

I read that as of 2008 CS 3 Photoshop will use the GPU for rendering/processing some effects. Is this true for PaintBrush and blur tools?Granted we are talking about a 6 year old mid-level CPU and now new technology but I would like to know along with using 8 GB RAM Will this 300 pixel-wide brush lag totally change with a Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz    Quad-Core?

Is there a significant difference when using Photoshop with a Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz    Quad-Core since both chips are multicore which Photoshop does usI'm trying to choose my new build and figure out what CPU to get since they are $110. difference. Is is night and day with most of the CPU intensive stuff on Photoshop?

GIMP :: 1 Pixel Wide Line With Feathering

Jun 12, 2012

I'm trying to create 1 pixel wide borders for some web buttons. I've tried to use the GIMP path tool to do this but I can't figure out how to get it looking right. See attached image.

1 - copied from a button I found on a web-page. This is what I want - single pixel horizontal and vertical lines with feathering on the curved bits.

2 - path that I used to generate the images on the right.

3 - 'Stroke Path' with 1px brush size & no antialiasing. Corners are not smooth.

4 - 'Stroke Path' with 1px brush size & anti-aliasing. Straight lines are too fuzzy as they are 2 pixel wide rather than 1.

Is there a way to do this with the path tool or any other way with the GIMP?

Photoshop :: How To Resize Some (super) Wide Panel

Sep 3, 2012

I have a problem in Photoshop CS5 (Windows version v12.1 x64).

My screen resolution is 1680x1080, but almost all "extra" screen space is eaten up by some very wide panels.  I can't adjust the width, it's locked to this extra wide look (see picture below). For example, my actions panel is two columns wide. It would give me lot's of extra screen space if I could have only one column.

P.S.
I understand some panels are wider by default and therefore affects other panels if they are grouped together, but they can't be resized even when ungrouped.

Paint.NET :: How To Shrink Image Without Losing Pixels

Nov 26, 2012

I made one image (a landscape type drawing) in one file, and another image (a computer drawn person) in another file. Apparently my original background sizes for the two files were WAY different and when I tried to "paste into new layer" the person I'd drawn onto the landscape image, that person's head covered the ENTIRE landscape! Of course I held Shift, grabbed the corner and tried to downsize the person to fit the landscape.... and lost TONS of detail in the process, leaving my little person looking extremely pixelated and difficult to recognize.

Is there a way to make the landscape and the person fit each other without losing detail?

Paint Shop Pro :: Image DPI - New Pixel Dimensions

Sep 20, 2012

Most of the images I work with need to be saved at screen resolution (in my case that's 72 or 96 dpi).

In past versions, I'd load an image, usually 300 dpi, and when I resize the image (Image -> Resize), the default resolution was always 72 dpi. All I needed to do was set the new pixel dimensions that I wanted, and I was done.

In X5, the resize box is showing the actual current dpi of the picture I'm trying to resize.

Is there a way to set X5 so that the Resize function always defaults to a specific resolution (i.e. 96 dpi)?

Paint Shop Pro :: Bottom Pixels Deleted After Pasting Selection Into Image

Aug 13, 2011

Using the below steps causes a string of pixels to delete, and forum I visited [URL]..... with similar issues think it's a bug in PaintShop Photo Pro X3 13.0.0.253. I now have version X3 - 13.2.1.20 after updates.

1. Start a new image, with solid background.
2. Selection tool, rectangle, add/shift, feather 0, anti-alias on.
3. Draw out a 3" rectangle. Flood fill or paint in the shape with a solid contrasting color. Leave shape selected.
4. Go to Edit, Copy.
5. Go to Edit, Paste as transparent selection.
6. Place the copy to the right and up against the first shape.
7. Go to selections, Select None.

Take note that there is a string of pixels that is being removed. The above steps were posted by my peers in the PaintShop Photo Pro community forum I mentioned above.

What I’ve been trying to do is Paste As New Selection from one image into another, and pixels are cut off once I click to release the selection. I’ve tried different things, like expanding the canvas of the pasted image, and other things, but nothing has worked.

Why is it that printed copies at 15 x 10 centimetres using the File>Print facility directly in Paint.NET are far superior to those using Image>Resize before printing (without saving the resized image)? Paint.NET :: How To Resize Image To Exact Size

Dec 6, 2012

I want to produce images that are exactly 4" x 6" to use as masters to make 4" x 6" borderless photo prints. I use Resize > Canvas Size > Absolute Size > 4.00 width > 6.00 height. When I save a print the resulting images are not exactly 4" X 6" so they do not produce useful borderless photos. Different photos have produced different size images using those same settings. The only way I have been able to learn that they are not the exact size that I need is to print and measure them.

Is it realistic to expect Paint.net to produce images that are exactly 4" x 6"?

Is there a better way than printing and measuring them to determine that the images are the desired size?

I would assume that the purpose of a 'selection' tool is to apply edits, effects, and changes to a selected portion of an image without effecting the entire image. But when I select part of my project and go up to the 'image' menu and try to resize just that part, it resizes the whole project. Is there any way I can select something and change its size?

Paint.NET :: Resize Image And Create Separate Background?

Sep 25, 2012

Im new with Paint .Net. What i would like to do is get an image which is 4248 x 3163 and resize it to around 250 px - this was done successfully however the next part of this task was to paste this image onto another background and float it to the right. So you know this is supposed to be a logo.

Now should i create another new paint .net page with the size i have in mind and then paste it to the right?

If yes how could i create a nice background that blends into the image? The type of background i have in mind is a few lines with waves flowing left to right and fading away.

Paint.NET :: Resize / Distort Selected Part Of Image?

Jul 22, 2013

But I only have (can only afford) the Photo Net free Version 3.3x, 3.5.I have a photo, say 2000 x 1500 px.  But it is distorted.  It looks like the two people in it have 25-inch legs. So I need to select the bottom half (rectangle select)

- and "stretch" that selection (not the whole image) from 1000 x 1500 px to 1250 x 1500 px!
The revised image with therefore be 2250 x 1500 px.

- but it will no longer be distorted

- and will include all the data in the opriginal photo.

All Serif PhotoPlus does is:-

- stretches the selected rectangle

- but keeps the same 2000 x 1500 dimensions

- simply by cropping off the bottom 200 or so pixels. This is not what I want.  instead, whether or not Photo Net Version 3.3x, 3.5 is capable of resizing / changing the dimensions of a selected part of an image, i.e. stretching it along one axis?

It will really get me out of a hole that could never have been envisaged for such a simple, routine photographic requirement.
