Paint.NET :: Resize Image And Create Separate Background?

Im new with Paint .Net. What i would like to do is get an image which is 4248 x 3163 and resize it to around 250 px - this was done successfully however the next part of this task was to paste this image onto another background and float it to the right. So you know this is supposed to be a logo.

Now should i create another new paint .net page with the size i have in mind and then paste it to the right?

If yes how could i create a nice background that blends into the image? The type of background i have in mind is a few lines with waves flowing left to right and fading away.

How to resize the image without changing the size of the background? When I try it makes the picture fit exactly into the background when that is not what I want to do. Also the image is in a different layer than the background .

Since the image has different colors, the textcolor should ajust to the underlying image.

If the image color is dark, the color of the text sould be light or the other way round.

resize this image into a resolution of 1280x768 (height = 1280px, width = 768px) and keep the blank background. I know the original 'X' is in a square shape so I'm unsure if it can be put into this vertical rectangle shape. I want the four coloured bars to continue into each of the corners and also do another copy with a sort of glossy reflective look applied to the colours if possible. Maybe also as the image is being enlarged, make the bars slightly wider so they don't look long and skinny

I downloaded Paint.net to resize pics, images, or logos and to create window stickers. However, I am completely new to it all! After playing with it and using it for a few days, I've done a few things with gradients paintbrush and text.

1)When I am placing graphics AND text on a new creation, for some reason I can only add the text FIRST and not AFTER I add any graphics. (So, if I mess up after getting my graphics on there and realize I need my text moved, I gotta start ALL over!

2) Is there any instruction book on the program out there anywhere??? anywhere??? maybe a Paint.net book for Dummies???

3) How do I resize photo's?? How do I work with layers?

4) WHERE is the align tool? (or align object tool.....whatever it's called) I need a simple way to CENTER text and pics.....

The program has been useful to me from what I have learned by hitting the wrong buttons by mistake (lol) but I'm sure there are MUCH better ways to do things than what I've been doing......

When I resize an image and save it as a jpg when I reopen the file and go to image info it did not resize it at all. This is a 2 second job and now 1 hour later, I cannot work out why in the world PSP X6 cannot perform a simple task.

Why is it that printed copies at 15 x 10 centimetres using the File>Print facility directly in Paint.NET are far superior to those using Image>Resize before printing (without saving the resized image)? I want to produce images that are exactly 4" x 6" to use as masters to make 4" x 6" borderless photo prints. I use Resize > Canvas Size > Absolute Size > 4.00 width > 6.00 height. When I save a print the resulting images are not exactly 4" X 6" so they do not produce useful borderless photos. Different photos have produced different size images using those same settings. The only way I have been able to learn that they are not the exact size that I need is to print and measure them.

Is it realistic to expect Paint.net to produce images that are exactly 4" x 6"?

Is there a better way than printing and measuring them to determine that the images are the desired size?

How do I resize a selected portion of an image?

I would assume that the purpose of a 'selection' tool is to apply edits, effects, and changes to a selected portion of an image without effecting the entire image. But when I select part of my project and go up to the 'image' menu and try to resize just that part, it resizes the whole project. Is there any way I can select something and change its size?

But I only have (can only afford) the Photo Net free Version 3.3x, 3.5.I have a photo, say 2000 x 1500 px. But it is distorted. It looks like the two people in it have 25-inch legs. So I need to select the bottom half (rectangle select)

- and "stretch" that selection (not the whole image) from 1000 x 1500 px to 1250 x 1500 px!
The revised image with therefore be 2250 x 1500 px.

- but it will no longer be distorted

- and will include all the data in the opriginal photo.

All Serif PhotoPlus does is:-

- stretches the selected rectangle

- but keeps the same 2000 x 1500 dimensions

- simply by cropping off the bottom 200 or so pixels. This is not what I want. instead, whether or not Photo Net Version 3.3x, 3.5 is capable of resizing / changing the dimensions of a selected part of an image, i.e. stretching it along one axis?

It will really get me out of a hole that could never have been envisaged for such a simple, routine photographic requirement.

Apart from causing the webpages to load slowly, Google also penalises these webpages.....

How to resize images to small sizes in pixels (25-35kb) but the image must still be fairly large i.e 600x600 and it must look good?????

I have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version - 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box.
I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?

Paint Shop Pro :: Create A Linen Background?

I am trying to create a linen background. I succeed in creating the first layer and lines run horizontally. I create a 2nd layer and what should happen is I recreate the original block and then rotate ONLY the 2nd layer so it is verticle lines. Then I would do an overlay mode on the 2nd layer so that it appears to have a linen appearance. However, when I am working on the 2nd layer and rotate it (and single layer only is checked) both layers rotate to the same direction. how to actually rotate only one image on a separate layer?

I'm using Paintshop pro X3

I used to be able to do this but have forgotten how. I would like to remove the bg from a small image, ie make it's bg transparent, and place that small image on top of a large image, a banner. I have a rectangular screen grab (Windows application) that I would like to simply round the corners and add a border. The image is not a photograph, but since I have Paint Shop Pro X3 and like how it works, I thought I would try it . I have spent some time trying to do this with Paint Shop Pro X3 with no luck. None of the pre-defined frames seemed to do what I need. I would also like to create a drop-shadow behind the image. how to do this or a video that I can watch. A list of steps would also be OK.
