Paint Shop Pro :: Bottom Pixels Deleted After Pasting Selection Into Image
Aug 13, 2011
Using the below steps causes a string of pixels to delete, and forum I visited [URL]..... with similar issues think it's a bug in PaintShop Photo Pro X3 13.0.0.253. I now have version X3 - 13.2.1.20 after updates.
1. Start a new image, with solid background.
2. Selection tool, rectangle, add/shift, feather 0, anti-alias on.
3. Draw out a 3" rectangle. Flood fill or paint in the shape with a solid contrasting color. Leave shape selected.
4. Go to Edit, Copy.
5. Go to Edit, Paste as transparent selection.
6. Place the copy to the right and up against the first shape.
7. Go to selections, Select None.
Take note that there is a string of pixels that is being removed. The above steps were posted by my peers in the PaintShop Photo Pro community forum I mentioned above.
What I’ve been trying to do is Paste As New Selection from one image into another, and pixels are cut off once I click to release the selection. I’ve tried different things, like expanding the canvas of the pasted image, and other things, but nothing has worked.
I've been having a recurring problem with Paint Shop Pro X3. When I try to paste a selection into an existing image, it cuts off the bottom 5-10 pixels. I hover over the existing image with my selection, and the entire selection shows up -- I move it into place, and once I paste it on, it cuts it off -- here is a screen shot -- left side shows full image when still 'selected' -- once I right click it cuts off a part of the bottom portion.
This is a piece of another image being pasted into a blank, new image. They are sized the same height (though that doesn't matter) and after paste, chop chop.
Suddenly today when I use the "Section tool" on a photo and then 'Crop to Selection' a new image is produced of the cropped selection and the old image remains. I don't want this and it has never happened before in the years I have been using PSP.
I want the existing image to be cropped and then I will save it.
How I can reset the "Selection tool' to do what it has always done? BTW I had earlier today used the "Crop" tool and ever since the 'Selection tool' has been creating a new image.
I want to cut out a section of an image and drop it onto a white background in another image.
I drew a vector point to point line around the area I wanted to copy and chose "selection from vector object" thinking that this would select the region inside the vector object. I then tried "copy merged" from the menu and pasted the clipboard into the new image. Now this didn't work and the copy only seems to copy the what is under the selection line rather than what is enclosed.
i've been using x3 (and subsiquently updated to x4) for quite some time. It has always done what I wanted of it for all this time. Until yesterday. I can no longer import more than one image (or multiple layers) and if I try, only one image will display in the layer palette. Additionally, previous to this episode, each image would be displayed with it's own rulers and could be resized by dragging on a corner. Now the image is fixed in the center of the layer and attempts to move or resize it results with the corresponding underlying transparency being uncovered. I can neither resize nor move the picture around the work area. I'm at a total loss. X3 and X4 have been deleted and reloaded - no avail.
Bought x6 a couple of weeks ago together with a new Windows 8.1 and 64 bit pc. I get a problem when I paste part of one image into another one. If I want to move it or enlarge/decrease the pasted part, it freezes or only part of it appears. However, if I then click on the composed image and reduce the size a bit, the pasted part appears ok. Nuisance as it slows the process down and should not be happening. as this never happened with X3 running on Windows 7 32 bit?
PSP 4x. when I "copy" an image from the web or other program and paste as a new image or any other option, it pastes "offset" That a piece of the image is cut off the right side and shows on the left as though it was a wrap around. This does not happen in PSP3x Must be some adjustment but cannot find.
I have two pictures and I try to copy a small part of one picture to the other.I did a rectangular selection of 2 cm square of the first picture and copied it but when I pasted it in the other picture the selection was now 4.68 cm square.
I suspect that's because the two pictures have not the same resolution. How can I keep the size of the selection from two pictures of different resolution?
I have a problem pasting an Adobe Acrobat snapshot as new picture in PSP4. Pasting it directly e.g. to MS Word works fine, but I would need some of the snapshots also as a jpg file.
I use the Adobe Acrobat X (ver 10.1.2) Standard snapshot tool to copy a picture and then try to paste it to PSP4 as new image. The result is every time the same: about 7 mm slice from the right is moved to the left side of the image. See attachment.
The attached file is an example showing 7 mm slice from right side of the image on the left side.
I use Paint.NET for cut background from photos of Mask for this nice project: Masks In photoshop i can use expand selection for cutting 1 pixel more then i just selected. In Paint.Net i usualy skip this step and images has white/black thread around the mask.
Example: [URL]...
How to correct this problem, is there way to expand selection for 1-3 pixels ?
I just purchced x3 about two months ago and when it starts up there are a bunch of pictures from my computer at the bottom. And I have to click on one of the pictures and then close the picture. I'd rather not have my photos automatically displayed at the bottom of the page at start up. Is there a way to open x3 without the pictures being displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Recently, had to stop using Corel PhotoImpact, since Corel stopped supporting it. Switched to PaintShop Pro X4
Running Win 7 64 bit, Office 2007
I have to repeatedly copy and paste from PaintShop Pro X4 into Word 2007.
When I choose the default paste, the pictures are fuzzy in Word
1) this is not a problem with other programs, such as Irfranview, as the source, instead of PaintShop Pro X4.
2) if choose "Paste Special" in Word-->bitmap, pictures are sharp. It is the default paste that is the problem.
3) I do not want to have to use "Paste Special" all the time
This is rather odd, to say the least. Why should the same image captured by the Windows clipboard from PaintShop Pro X4 vs Irfranview behave differently when pasted into Word 2007?
I have taken pictures for my husbands company, and one of the distributors wants pictures sent to them in jpeg, and stated the pictures must be 500 x 500 pixels and 300 DPI. I have not been able to make the height and width both at 500 pixels. Can this be done? I have PSP X4.
I have PSPX3U. Just installed it on my new computer last week. I can't be sure, but I do believe I let it update. I then had the bug where Filters Unlimited filters don't work properly on a raster layer. I had this problem on my regular X3 (not ulltimate) after doing updates. My only option was to un-install PSP and re-install it and not update.
Now on this new computer, I did uninstallinstall and re-installed. I honestly don't remember, but I do think I still had a problem without doing any updates. I think I did one of the updates and my Filters Unlimited was back to working the way it should.
Now today I was working on something and found out that I have the dropping pixels bug. I thought I saw something off the other day. I do know this is a problem and I do see there's a fix. But it says that you have to install update 4 first. My PSPX3U version is 13.2.0.35.
I'm afraid of installing the updates because I can't afford to hae that filter bug again...but I also can't afford to have the dropping pixel bug.I tried to look at the updates to see which one(s) I would need to install, but only the first one tells you if you have a certain version then you don't need it. I couldn't find this for the others...unless I'm not looking in the right spot.
When photographing a tall object from the ground, for example the rectangle of a house wall, the picture perspective will be distorted in the sense that the bottom of the wall will be wider in the picture than the top of the wall.
Say, for example, that the bottom of the house wall in the picture is 1 inch wider than the top of the wall. Is it possible to increase the size of the picture gradually from the bottom to the top, from 0% of 1 inch at the bottom to 100% of 1inch at the top? So the end result in the picture will be an evenly sized wall from bottom to top?
Is there a way to have the thumbnail display on the bottom of the Organizer screen use a vertical scroll bar on the far right instead of the horizontal scroll bar below? Or, can I enlarge the size of the thumbnail display area without enlarging the size of the thumbnails? (Which means, I suppose, being able to specify what size I want the thumbnails displayed.)
I have received an image from someone which has text all over it. I'd like to strip out a little of the text at the bottom of the image. The background is kind of a grainy, paper-looking beige texture. And, in a perfect world, I'd be able to select only text and delete it.
I have just upgraded to PSPX4 from X2, but have been using PSP since it was a JASC product. So far I am not very impressed with the new version. My first stumbling block was when I couldn't increase the canvas size on a photo that I'm restoring (9120w x 13298h). A chat session with Corel identified the issue as being a 10000 pixel limitation now being imposed. Although I can work with images >10000, I can't increase any dimension past this figure. Who had that brainwave? I had to put my image into PSPX2, increase the canvase size and then load it back into PSPX4 to continue.
Now today, another issue pops up. I can't seem to find other hits on pasting selections within the forum though, so I am raising this.
I loaded two tif images into my Edit workspace. One image is fairly small and I copied this, switched to the larger image and tried a 'paste as new selection'. This worked OK. The I switched to a paintbrush and made a small change to the main image. I then tried pasting the copied image again with 'paste as new selection'. This time the program locked up with Windows trying to find a resolution. PSPX4 then crashed. I have tried various scenario's to narrow the cause down. So far it seems that I can paste a new selection as many times as I want, but as soon as I use a paintbrush to effect even a small change PSPX4 locks up. It either then crashes, as explained earlier, or I get the round no operation mouse cursor displayed. At this point the main control box buttons (close, minimize etc.) won't respond, neither can I switch to the Manage or Adjust areas. The menu trees respond, but selecting File/Exit doesn't work. I have to use Task Manager to close the program.
I had installed SP1, but trying to identify the cause of this issue I uninstalled X4 and reinstalled the base version from CD (332). All settings were left to default. This is how I am running now, so it looks as if SP1 makes no difference. I have also tried using jpg instead of tif, but this also makes no difference. At the moment I'm thinking of ditching X4 and going back to X2.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 8Gb RAM.
The selection tools, i.e. shape, freehand and magic wand, have suddenly stopped working. I do freehand, double click and nothing happens. The freehand selection actually disappears. I click magic wand and nothing happens.
I want to copy an part of image A into an selection of picture B.
Using the command " Insert into selection" works, but i get a distortion of image A. The relation of heigth/width is changed by PSP, so that image A fits into the selection, but this is not what I need. I would prefer the parts of image A that don't fit into the selection being cropped.
I have several raw photos, and when my exposure has been brought to -2 the glare of the flash on skin is much warmer and acceptable. However, the rest of the photo is not. What is a good practice for reducing exposure for just my selection of the photo?
I am using Corel Draw X5. When I paste an Excel graph into Corel the resolution looks terrible. I can paste this same graph into most other programs and it looks fine. No matter what I do and no matter which special paste command I use I am not happy with the resolution of the graph - you can actually see the pixels. When I convert to PDF you can still see the pixels.
I made one image (a landscape type drawing) in one file, and another image (a computer drawn person) in another file. Apparently my original background sizes for the two files were WAY different and when I tried to "paste into new layer" the person I'd drawn onto the landscape image, that person's head covered the ENTIRE landscape! Of course I held Shift, grabbed the corner and tried to downsize the person to fit the landscape.... and lost TONS of detail in the process, leaving my little person looking extremely pixelated and difficult to recognize.
Is there a way to make the landscape and the person fit each other without losing detail?
The DPI is modified from 96 to 192 and the image pixels is also scaled to twice resolution. But the screen the images size changes from 3 inch to 6 inch, when 100% zoom. This is wrong, the image should be displayed in what the size the image is.
How the tools all have the option to reset to default. I was doing something earlier that required the selection tool and I saw that it had been changed, so I clicked to reset and nothing happened. All my other tools reset just fine.
