How the tools all have the option to reset to default. I was doing something earlier that required the selection tool and I saw that it had been changed, so I clicked to reset and nothing happened. All my other tools reset just fine.
View 14 RepliesI am using Paint Shop Pro X6. I am an experienced Paint Shop user. Today, I must have done something strange, because now when I use the clone tool, instead of getting what normally occurs, the cloned area consists only of large dots--similar to what a half-tone photograph looks like under high magnification. The dots are the proper color.
Is there a way to reset Paint Shop Pro to default settings as the software existed when it was installed? That might solve my problem.
I know you can custom size the selection tool by pixel position, but Is it possible to set the custom size of the selection tool to inches? For example I would like to have a custom size of 5 x 7 inches so I can place over an area and simple copy and then paste that 5 x 7 selection as a new image.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi recently updated to 5.3 and everything was great, just like normal.. then after an import of raw files, i selected one to develop and went to look for my "exposure" slider on the right side of the screen. it has disappeared??? i also am missing my simple saturation slider too. now i have an extremely indepth saturation sliders for every color. i have tried to reset tool settings, i have searched around, i even reinstalled lightroom hoping i would get it back to what i am used to...
is there a preference file that i can delete to get me back to 100% default settings?

I have just upgraded to PSPX4 from X2, but have been using PSP since it was a JASC product. So far I am not very impressed with the new version. My first stumbling block was when I couldn't increase the canvas size on a photo that I'm restoring (9120w x 13298h). A chat session with Corel identified the issue as being a 10000 pixel limitation now being imposed. Although I can work with images >10000, I can't increase any dimension past this figure. Who had that brainwave? I had to put my image into PSPX2, increase the canvase size and then load it back into PSPX4 to continue.
Now today, another issue pops up. I can't seem to find other hits on pasting selections within the forum though, so I am raising this.
I loaded two tif images into my Edit workspace. One image is fairly small and I copied this, switched to the larger image and tried a 'paste as new selection'. This worked OK. The I switched to a paintbrush and made a small change to the main image. I then tried pasting the copied image again with 'paste as new selection'. This time the program locked up with Windows trying to find a resolution. PSPX4 then crashed. I have tried various scenario's to narrow the cause down. So far it seems that I can paste a new selection as many times as I want, but as soon as I use a paintbrush to effect even a small change PSPX4 locks up. It either then crashes, as explained earlier, or I get the round no operation mouse cursor displayed. At this point the main control box buttons (close, minimize etc.) won't respond, neither can I switch to the Manage or Adjust areas. The menu trees respond, but selecting File/Exit doesn't work. I have to use Task Manager to close the program.
I had installed SP1, but trying to identify the cause of this issue I uninstalled X4 and reinstalled the base version from CD (332). All settings were left to default. This is how I am running now, so it looks as if SP1 makes no difference. I have also tried using jpg instead of tif, but this also makes no difference. At the moment I'm thinking of ditching X4 and going back to X2.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 8Gb RAM.
I'm using PSP 8 and suspect this will prove embarrassingly obvious...
What is the quickest way to centre a selection horizontally? IOW, the equivalent of using Objects > Align > Horz. Center in Canvas (Alt+o+a+z).
I often need to do this to shift titles if I've prematurely merged text layers into the background.
In the X3 version there was a menue setting for the color of the work space where you could change it and not have to use the Graphite color. In the X4 version there is nowhere to select non default color. There should be as not everyone wants to be forced into having it the default"graphite or whatever"color.

When I try to do it, it reverts back to X4. When I try to make the changes within the program itself, those 2 file extensions aren't even in the list!

The printer is known to the computer as I have printed from MS Word and I have scanned from the scanner to the computer.How do I get PSP to know the printer?

Using the command " Insert into selection" works, but i get a distortion of image A. The relation of heigth/width is changed by PSP, so that image A fits into the selection, but this is not what I need. I would prefer the parts of image A that don't fit into the selection being cropped.
I have several raw photos, and when my exposure has been brought to -2 the glare of the flash on skin is much warmer and acceptable. However, the rest of the photo is not. What is a good practice for reducing exposure for just my selection of the photo?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am new to the PrintShop ProX4 family. I just purchased my first PSPX4 software, even though I have been using AfterShot for quite sometime. My question is, how do I prevent PSPX4 from being my default program for viewing images and or pictures attached to my emails.
Prior to purchasing and installing PrintShop ProX4, all my pictures attached to my emails would open up under my Windows photo gallery. But now, they open up under my PrintShop Pro X4 program and since I am still learning the PSPX4, I would like to convert back to the Windows photo gallery.
I've been using PSP since decades, currently I'm using the latest PSP X5.When I open a .jpg/.jpeg file and without changing anything on picture hit File-->Save or CTRL-S or the Floppy on the Toolbar, any picture is overwritten with a certain compression factor of about 15 (but not exactly). If I go over the File-->Save As..or F12 function, I can choose the compression factor as I want (f.ex. 5) over the options, it will be retained forever, until I change it manually, what is perfectly ok.
I'm quite sure, it wasn't always like this, but since some versions it is. I think earlier the factor I choose on "Save As..." was also used for "Save". But a mystical compression factor is used, which can't be reproduced manually: 15 is a notch bigger but about the closest.
Question:Can I set the default compression factor somewhere, I don't want to make the whole procedure over "Save As..." every time, I just want to open an image, edit and click "Save" with a compression factor of let's say 5. Anything for achieving that is acceptable, like modifiying Registry settings or editing config files to the HEX Level. A lot of googling and searching in settings didn't solve my problem yet.
I use very many features of this great program and plugins and stuff, but it turns out, the only problem I have with it, is about the most basic function.
how to undo the default tabbed view? I prefer to see all images, especially when using the clone brush.

Mine are there but the default set are not listed (hidden files?). How can I delete the ones I do not want from the default set so that the ones I have created stay on top?

Especially if I make an addition to the selection, this coloured line runs right through the selected figure. If I copy the selection, undo the selection and then paste as a new layer, the coloured border, especially in added areas, remains visible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having a recurring problem with Paint Shop Pro X3. When I try to paste a selection into an existing image, it cuts off the bottom 5-10 pixels. I hover over the existing image with my selection, and the entire selection shows up -- I move it into place, and once I paste it on, it cuts it off -- here is a screen shot -- left side shows full image when still 'selected' -- once I right click it cuts off a part of the bottom portion.
This is a piece of another image being pasted into a blank, new image. They are sized the same height (though that doesn't matter) and after paste, chop chop.
I want to cut out a section of an image and drop it onto a white background in another image.
I drew a vector point to point line around the area I wanted to copy and chose "selection from vector object" thinking that this would select the region inside the vector object. I then tried "copy merged" from the menu and pasted the clipboard into the new image. Now this didn't work and the copy only seems to copy the what is under the selection line rather than what is enclosed.
What is made in an exact moment (2:50) of the tutorial bellow, in which "history" pallet is used together selection to extract object. It seems to bring a better result than using "object extractor" tool.
So, my question is related to handling the "history" pallet as showed in 2:50 tutorial. It seems the "undo" is applied to the first "selection" action, but I couldn't make as in the tutorial. My PSP version is X4 and the tutorial version is X2. I don't know if something has changed and I am unable to make it in PSPX4.
