I can't find the .x exporter. is there not one included?
if it's not, then what about one of these other formats:
.md3
.b3d
.ms3d
.md2
I'm looking to preserve all animation frames and texturing in the exported format.
(I'm accustomed to doing video animation, but now I'm doing game animation which is placing me in unfamiliar territory)
Is there a way of changing the way the 3ds max lists the exporters in the drop down box. The exporter currently lists FBX as the first on the list, but would like to change that our custom exporter.

I have the Genio exporter tool installed but when i output the genio all that appears is the Boundary line without the contours, which when i think about it makes sense as the surface contours is more a display option rather than actual contours. Is there a way of exporting the contours via genio.

View 6 Replies View Relatedhe creates a cylinder where the side faces have only one subdivision, meaning each of the 20 side faces are a single rectangle with no subdivisions. Then he wants to add a subdivision around the entire cylinder. He clicks on a icon and touches one of the edges of one of the faces and there appears a subdivision around the entire cylinder. Not only that but he can take his mouse and move that ring up or down to whatever position he wants. In this case he moved it up close to the top to sharpen the resulting smoothing.
I cant find the icon in 2012. Where is the command to do this located?
I don't find my object anymore in the "3d world" of Maya.

I'm getting an error regarding the symmetricModelling procedure not being found when I try to use the now-classic RapidRig.mel script in Maya 7.0.1
The error is specifically "Maya Error: Cannot find procedure "symmetricModelling".
Why can't I rename a shader? I am following a Gnomon eye tutorial and when I rename a blinn, lambert or any other shader/material this pops up Error: Could not find UI element named "". After the error I can't access the hardware texture rollout on the shader. Its happened with all maya versions since 2009 with different PC's, the graphics cards I have used are gaming cards both nvidia/ati at the moment its a 460gtx could that be the problem, do I need a Quadro card.

I can't find the "reset setting" button from edit on My maya 2014 software.
The reason the tutorial is using the "rest setting" is to adjust the width, height and depth of the cube I have out there by using numbers as its measurement.
I don't know if there are any other buttons that can do the same job, or is there another way to find this button... I can't progress my learning until I know what to do about this.
I'm working from a book tutorial and the book wants me to "turn off Surface Selection" in the "Selection Mask Options".
I've looked everywhere but can't find "Selection Mask Options".
Is there something like a "Maya 2011 Bible" out there (or even 2010 or 2012)? The publisher that makes the Bible series does not seem to have made one for Maya since 4.5. I was wondering if there was a book or website that simply listed every Maya option with a short description and its location.

My rig is so complex that going in and deleting one by one seems like a crazy process but if there was a way to get the outliner to show only ik_handles and or constrain nodes then I could just select them and delete them and this would save me a lot of time.

It would be used on parallel lines criss-crossing each other. I haven't been able to find anything similar. I've already tried the smudge tool, rough pastels, and wind. I figure that Photoshop must be able to do the same thing, but I can't see how.
