Feb 19, 2014i have lightroom 4 and would like to upgrade to lightroom five. will i loss any of my files when i upgrade or will the be loaded in automaticly after the upgrade.

Jan 4, 2014Can I upgrade my PSE 5.0 Catalog directly to version 12.0 without loss of data (i.e. using backup-move-restore method)? the transition to 6.0 and also to 9.0 resulted in a different data format in the catalog file.

Jun 14, 2013I followed the instructions starting up Lightroom 5, but, when I looked at my files that it upgraded, many file were missing. So I Imported the missing files with LR5. But then I noticed that many of the files I had imported (~3,000), had all the keywords missing! How can I fix this without reindexing the whole batch of files?

I have a question if
1) enable profile corrections
2) setup is Auto or Custom Or Default
3) the camera is correcr ( canon)
4) Model of the lens is correct EF17-40
5) Profile is shown as EOS-1D Mk 3
the arrows do not show any other camera and Mine is a Canon 50D, How do get the correct Profile to register also unable to update DNG files.
GIMP :: Metadata Loss When Uploading Files?
Feb 9, 2012All metadata was lost when files were uploaded and sent. By metadata I mean image captions and keywords. I inserted metadata via Image - Properties - Comments while in GIMP xcf, saved files to JPEG, and uploaded. Metadata looked OK in JPEG before uploading and is still there in my files, but didn't survive the upload.

Sep 20, 2012I have converted to jpg some .nef from my D800 with Lightroom 4.1 at max sharpening, 150, with Capture NX 2.3.4 with max sharpening set in picture style settings only and ViewNX2 2.5.1 with max sharpening set in picture style only. Have played with other settings in "details box" of LR4.1, radius, details and masking, but the result is about the same. Please, look at this two photos, converted with CaptureNX 2.3.4 and LR 4.1: at bottom the loss of details is noticeable(the palm, the street lamp). With ViewNX2 have the same result.
Fortunately, it does not happen with all the photos, but happens. Happens in particular with the dark photos and night shots. That it is not a matter of contrast.
Converted with LR 4.1, only sharpening and camera setting picture style:[url]......
Lightroom :: 3 - Loss Of Quality When Editing In Photoshop
Dec 9, 2012I worked on an image in Lightroom, got the contrast and color perfect, and when I went to "Edit in Photoshop" it completely flattened out my photo by darkening most of my lighter areas and it looks awful. Check out the sky in these two images to see what I mean. I have LR3 and CS4.

Jan 5, 2014Up until now lightroom has behaved perfectly, now when i make an adjustment in the develop screen, the picture just goes grey. If i switch to library then back I get the picture back in the develop screen with adjustments made. This means that I cannot see to make fine adjustments. I have reloaded from lightroom4.4 all the way back upto lightroom 5 and there is no difference.is there a setting i have accidently changed?

May 5, 2013Since a couple of days when I export tiff files to jpeg the exported image looks darker. If I reimport it the histogram is evidently changed.
It looks like something messed up in preferences but I didn't make any changes (at least I didn't do it purposely).
I upgraded to the 4.4 version after this happened but nothing changed.

Nov 25, 2012I was about to export some photos and realized that I have lost all the develop adjustments I made over a month ago. If I go back to an ealier catalog file from the beginning of October, I see all the adjustments, but it looks like the photos have moved (I get a blank thumbnail with the question mark). Couple questions:
why the develop adjustments are absent from the photos in all my recent catalogs? I always move my photos in LR.Is there anyway to "export" the develop adjustments from the older catalog and associate them to the correct photos in the newest catalog?

Mar 6, 2012LR4 final seems to have a very annoying bug.
When I select a number of images (in the film strip) and either
1) paste settings that I've previously copied from another image or
2) sync settings from one image to the rest
... the settings are not applied to all the selected images. The settings are only applied to a seemingly random subset of the selected images.
I'm going to try to pin down the exact circumstances that make this occur.

Oct 3, 2012I was using elements 8 and just purchased elements 10. the system asked if I wanted to import files / tags etc over to 10 which I said yes. It downloaded to 49%then stopped. How do I get all my photos (arouond 20 thousand) over to the upgrade. I cannot find how to go back and restart.

Jan 31, 2014I've been using v3.6 on a windows 7 PC for about 2 years. I've recently upgraded to v5.3 on the PC and at the same time have installed v5.3 on my laptop also running windows 7. On the laptop using a few new images: the smart preview, exporting and web functions work fine. On the original PC which has my original catalog of c17K images these three functions do not work. As far as I can tell the association between the masters and the images in the library has not been lost. The library and develop functions in v5.3 are working on all the c17K images in the original catalog.I've set the Export dialogue box up using recommendations from answers I've gleaned form other discussions in the forum eg; making sure the 'do nothing' flag is active in the post processing section and reducing the quality of the JPEG image. Still when I export nothing happens.

Jul 12, 2013I installed my upgrade to LR5 last night but it keeps giving me an error when I try to upgrade my LR4 catalog. It goes through the initial steps, stays at "preparing new searchable data" for a long time, then eventually stops and pops up the error message: "Unable to upgrade catalog. Lightroom encountered problems when trying to update the format of the catalog file and cannot use this catalog in this version of Lightroom". I tried upgrading a smaller catalog that I don't use anymore and it worked fine. how I can get this catalog converted? Its my main catalog with all of my current years' images. For the time being LR 4 is working fine but I'd love to get 5 up and running.
