View 1 Replies View Related2 days on GIMP. I need to adjust the clone tool so it's 1080 pixels vertical and about 20 pixels wide. I googled and searched, but I can't seem to find the right phrasing.
View 19 Replies View RelatedCould not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point). this is what shows up in the command box when ever I click to start to pick the spot i want to use as the clone. makes my cloning tool useless. View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a panorama in PTGUI and imported it into LR5 as a tiff file. There is a small area in the upper right corner that is white as the image did not fit the rectangle exactly. I wanted to use the clone/heal tool to replicate a portion of sky to cover that area, but no matter what I do it will not put anything in that area - it just stays white. I was able to do this in version 4.x. What is going on?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
I use Auto Import to import my RAW files. Each time LR imports my files the Previous Import count number increases. Is there a way to reset this count so it shows a true reflection of the photos from my previous import session?
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you manually import files the Previous Import count number resets itself automatically. I've Googled this problem & this question has been asked before - all users were utilising Auto Import.
This seems to have been a problem with previous lightrooms and thought it may have been fixed in LR4 but I can't seem to find the option?
What I have a gripe with is why when I am exporting my editied raws into what ever jpeg format I want (highres low res etc) I put these in a folder with in the orgional raws parent folder and call it "02 - High_Res" for example. To then get this to show in the lightroom folder structure you then have to 'sync' the folder. Is there a way to have this done automatically? Is there a way I can just get it to appear with out syncing?
my workflow is to copy all photos from my camera to a folder that is configured for auto import.Lightroom takes these pics and import them to the library. But it does not exclude duplicate photos. If I copy the same photos to the auto import folder again, LR imports all photos again.
Why can't I configure to exclude duplicates as it works with the manual import function?
I would like to disable auto import.
I uncheck "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" under Edit - preferences - Import. However, it rechecks itself when I close lightroom down. Then whenever I put in a storage device -- a memory card, external hard drive, flash drive, etc -- Lightroom starts up and wants to import from that device.
How do I prevent this?
Since I upgraded to Lightroom 4.1 from 3 the Import Dialog screen will not auto open when I insert a memory Cart to my Imac. I have the correct box ticked in the preferences.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got lightroom 3 for Christmas. I cannot figure it out and it's a headache so far. How am I supposed to set up the auto import to the My Pictures folder when I am supposed to chose an empty folder for Lightroom to watch? I must be misunderstanding something because I imagine that everyone who buys Lightroom already has photos in their My Pictures folder.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm seeing a problem in just some of my Lightroom 4 (version 4.3, latest updates as of today) catalogs where auto import just stops working. There are no error messages and Lightroom continues to work, but files in the watched folder just don't get imported. I've optimized the catalog, restarted Lightroom, double checked that auto import is on, restarted my mac (mac book pro running 10.7.5), imported all the photos into a new catalog... still no joy. Also worth noting is that the other import options are greyed out if auto import is on when I start Lightroom for these broken catalogs... but if I turn off auto import, and restart Lightroom, the import photos and videos is enabled and I can import the files from the watch folder manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just inherited a 500GB HDD from my Dad and I'd love to be able to work all his photos through LR, although there's no way I'm sitting there and importing each and every directory!
As Google Picasa can be told to monitor a directory (eg My Pictures) and each time a new directory or directories are added, on startup it scans for and locates these new dirs and imports the pictures.
Can LR3 be set up to do this please as it would save me hours if I could just leave it overnight to import all of his pics straight into LR.
I'm using LR 4.3 on Windows 7, 64-bit. It seems to work pretty well in Library and Develop and such, so I don't think there's a performance issue...
When I do a synchronize on a folder (may be 500 files or as few as 20), new files don't show up to be imported. I can look at the folder and SEE the file. It's there. But, it's NOT in the library grid. Synchronize does NOT see the file. If I do an import (separate from Synchronize), the file usually shows up. The file I can't see in the library shows up in the list with a checkmark, so it KNOWS it's not been imported. At that point, I can go ahead and tell LR to add them and it's fine.
ALSO, when I add a keyword to a new file, it doesn't show up when I open the files for that keyword. For example, I take a .dng file edit it, then finish in Photoshop. Saving the file in Photoshop gets it back to LR. I can see it in the files in Develop. I can see it in the Library grid. But it ISN'T in the keyword set. Even if I ADD the keyword AGAIN, it STILL doesn't show up in the files for that keyword. If I shut down Lightroom and restart it, THEN the file shows up in the keyword set. Is there some "auto-update" setting I've messed up?
I'm trying to import images shot on a Canon 650d using two different lenses, the (according to EXIF displayed by LR) "EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II" (kit) lens and an "EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II". Both lenses and the camera should be newly supported with this RC.
When I go to develop module and tick "activate lens corrections" (translating, I'm using the German version) nothing happens. No corrections are applied. I need to additionally change "Manufacturer" from "none" to "Canon", then the right lens is automatically found and the settings are applied.
However, if I save this as an import-standard (press Alt+"set standard"), just this lens is remembered: All imported images get corrected using the last selected lens profile. So if I manually correct an image taken on the 18-55mm lens and save this as default, at the next import all images, including those taken on the 55-250mm lens, get corrected using the 18-55mm profile (at least, that's what LR is showing me.)
It was my understanding that the import preset should be specific not only to the camera, but also to the lens the respective image was shot with.
I shot using an eye-fi card. The card autmatically generates a xmp file with geodata in it. LR auto imports these images and adds lens correction and a copy right tag.
What I can't do is automatically is get LR to read the xmp file and include this in the catalogue. I am having to right click images and select read metadata from file.
There must be a better work flow then this.
I have no import presets created (verified by the import screen saying "none" when importing), yet LR adds one (the same one) keyword to all photos imported. I have 4.1, but this has been happening in previous versions. How to stop this?? It is very time consuming to always have to remove this keyword.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to remove a tumb that caught the corner of the lense in a shot with the clone tool, so I choose my clone tool, select a copy of the background layer, and press alt to select my source. It doesn't work! I don't get my little plus thing. I've also noticed that I can't select part of the photo with the lasso tool either. I AM selecting the proper layer on the side! I don't get it, why isn't this working?
I've tried resetting the tool, I've tried several different files, it just refuses to let me select a source. My alt key is working, ctrl-alt-del says so.
I have been using CS6 for a while now and one problem that I keep encountering is the auto-selection of shape layers. Trying to auto-select a layer that's within 10 pixels of a shape layer is impossible without having to zoom in. This is a little hard to explain without images... Cue image...
If you try to recreate the above image, where the black 20x20px rectangle is a shape and the red 38x38px rounded rectangle is rasterized pixels, you will see that auto-selecting the red rounded rectangle is impossible at 100%.
Is this intentional and just an issue for me? Selecting pixel layers in CS5 was never this annoying. It seems that shape layers have an invisible 10px area around them stopping you from selecting anything below them. This is so frustrating with pixel UI work.
I am using PSC6 and the clone tool stamp will not paint from the sample area. After holding down the alt key to obtain sample it will not paint. I can hold the sample over the area to paint & see the cloned area visually, but it will not paint when I click. however if I click many multiple times I get a faded clone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I expand a selection or move and image/object around then deselect the edges/parts that end up falling outside of the canvas area get deleted. How do I stop this? When I go move the layer around or resize it I can't because what ever parts landed outside of the canvas area have been deleted. This is on Photoshop CS6, I never had this problem with CS5.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMAC OS / Photoshop CS5 As you can see in the attached image, my clone stamp selection doesn't extend out to the edges of the outline, which makes using it very clumsy to use. My PS installation at home and all the installations at this business don't do this. I've tried messing with all the clone stamp settings, resetting the clone stamp presets, and resetting the general Photoshop preferences at startup. However, nothing I've tried has had any affect. So how can I get this adjusted so that the clone stamp selected area extends out to the edges of the grey outline?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to mask out a light source in a complex figure. I have just upgraded from PSE 11 -> 12, but I doubt that is the problem. I thought the clone stamp tool in Editor was simply not working. When I'd drag (after setting a source) over the bright area, it would darken where I dragged.
From experience it seemed like it was marking the area it was going to modify - but this turned out to be the extent of the modification. It just stayed dark. Following other discussions, I adjusted my depth of history to ease RAM footprint, restarted Editor, and rebooted my Mac (OSC 10.9). I also twiddled with all the options under Clone Overlay. I could see the effects, but they did not fix the issue. When I try the Clone Stamp tool elsewhere, it does what I expect.
I'm suspecting pilot error, but don't know what else to try.
In PSE11 the clone tool with the aligned option creates a duplicate of the whole image instead of just the brush area.
