View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing PS Elements 11 I can easily selecte (quick selection tool or smart brush tool) an area of a photo that I want to adjust, but I'm adbsolutely stymied as to how to apply the adjustment I want to that selected area??? How do I do it??? I have the area selected (e.g. I've slected a very bright sunlit area of a photo) that I want to make darker ... how do it do that?
Or I've selected an area of a photo that, after using the composition tool, has a lot of serious jagged lines, and I want to blur/smooth that area ... I've tried every conceivalbe combination (max radius etc.) of the blur filter, but nothing seems to significantly blur the selected part of the image. I would have thought that, given a "maximum" blur "setting", it would be possible to blur a selected piece of image into a uniform monotone blend ... is that not possible?
I am working with Photoshop Elements 11. I have a picture that I want to place into a banner. When I do this I find that the height of the picture is fine but it is not wide enough. BUT to the leftside of the picture the background is such that I can cut it out and use it to fill the space on the left and right sides.
I know how to do selections with marquee tool etc but not how to copy and paste a selected area. Is there a tool or method that will do this for me?
How can i select areas of an image and find their size in pixels?
using the measure tool or image size only works for square (straight sided images).
I have cs3 extended. Is there a tool ( i can't find one) that will allow you to make a selection and then calculate the pixel area of the selection? For measuring areas in a scientific application.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with the magic wand tool. I try selecting an area which works fine but when I try to subtract an area from it I get this message: "Warning: No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visible." I googled this and came up with a few solutions but none worked. The most common solution was to reduce feathering to zero. When I tried to do that I got the message: "A number between 0.2 and 250.0 is required. Closest value inserted." Any idea what I'm doing wrong and how to get rid of these annoying error messages?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to work throught the photo restoration book. I am putting together a photo that has been torn into pieces. I have to select each piece using the lasso tool, use the option key with magic wand to select it in more detail, then make a new layer to store each piece in.
The first torn piece worked out fine, when I tried to select the second piece, I used the lasso successfully, then tried to hold down the option and click the magic want, it said that there were no pixels selected. I have run into this problem before.... I started over and over reselecting this piece and every time, it said that there were no pixels selected.
As a hvac calculation engineer i often need to measure quickly pipes length and ventilation ducts area.
Measuring pipes lenght is quite easy with qselect + tlen.lsp, but, so far, how to measure ducts area quickly.
I'd like to add that ducts surface seen in 2D would satisfy me and i only talk about 2D drawings.
How to do this measure? Maybe there are lisp routines that could work?

View 14 Replies View RelatedWe are able to measure distance in meters between 2 points using COGO tools. Though, when meassuring areas (command area) even setting units to meters it shows: "Area = 0.00000073, Perimeter = 0.00343123" which is not expressed in meters. The area in meters is around 8900m2. We are using latitude, longitude LL84 (WGS84). Is there a way to easily measure area over the map using this coordinate system?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFound that in certain drawings, the measure area tool will just suddenly stop working? It's very odd. It let's me pick points, but won't let me press enter to see the total.
Closing and reopening AutoCAD doesn't work. It seems to be a permanent thing to the affected drawing.
It's happened to me in a few drawings, but only in those specific ones. Other drawings are fine. I'm guessing it's a setting I've changed somehow?
I've been getting round it by creating shapes using the polyline, and then looking at the area in the properties window. It's an ok solution, but not ideal.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a vector shape and want to apply 4 colours to it. I have drawn 4 squares with the colours I want and then merged the layers so it becomes 1. I then "selected the pixels" on my shape and cut out that shape from the 4 squares of colour i created. However, when I resize my shape, it blurs as it is not vector anymore.
Is there a way to do acheive the above but keep the shape a vector?
Is there an 'easy' way to see a cross sectional area and measure it? I have tried getting a cross-sectional area by off-setting a work plane into the model, sketching on that plane, and pressing F7.
This shows the cross-sectional area, but when I click the inspect>area I can not select the cross-section. Any thoughts besides creating a sketch on that surface and extruding it to remove; taking the area measurement, and then undoing the extrusion?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am changing from PSE8 to PSE12 and realized upon trying 12 today that PSE12 automatically saves my edited pictures in PSD format where PSE8 saved them in JPEG. I don't use the organizer for catalogs, instead opening up folders where I've saved my pictures (e.g. Christmas 2013)and editing the photos I like in PSE8 and then saving them back in that same folder. It may not be the 'right' way, but it works for me. The picture I tried using PSE12 on, saved in the PSD format which isn't viewable in those folders (windows picture viewer is the default). I truly only use PSE for improving pics I like and want to share/email, use as my desktip background, post to Facebook, and print for myself or gifts via uploading to a photo printing service (Mpix, Walmart, etc.) Is there a way to have PSE12 default to saving as JPEG or should I be saving everything as PSD? I get that PSD only works with PS and takes more space, but doesn't cause loss of quality of the pictures the way JPEG does ~ I'm just not sure it's important for the way I use PSE. \
