i have some smart folders of my fav. pics. i want to export them to disc for my mobile devices the pics have different resolutions.
I want to resize them in %. I saw only the option in pixel.
if there is no option in LR, can you recommend a freeware tool for mac or win?
in LR5.0 one can export Slideshow as video to file in 1080 p quality . However , unlike in ather ADOBE products like Photoshop elements , one cannot export to Disc . So what is the easiest way on getting the exported .mp4 file burned onto a blueray disc preserving the HD quality.
I can see that Adobe offers ENCORE in the creative suite, but that seems overkill as I just want to burn the file onto disc. A plug-in for LR5 would seem the best solution to me , but I have not found it.
What is the easiest way to achieve a burn to disc out of LR5 in HD quality ?
PS : of course there is third party software that does allows blue ray authoring and disc burning ; But they all seem to come with photo or video editing software which I do not need . I want to stay with Lightroom , just burn the slideshow to disc

View 2 Replies View RelatedSay I have an image that is 100x100 pixels. And I want to take one of the layers and resize it to 50% of the image size, so that it is 50 pixels. How can I accomplish that?
The reason I ask, is that have multiple images all with different size. But I have a signature (ie. watermark) that is always the same size. I want to be able to place this signature, and then resize it to XX% of the image it was placed on. That way, it should always have the same proportions.
I have a set of images that fit within 1400x1050. I want them to fit within 1024x768. As I have done before, I set the export directory, choose 1024x768 as the export size, highlight all of the images and click export. The first image in the set shows what iis going wrong. It starts out as 680x1050 and finishes as 680x1050. Clearly this is wrong - it is not resizing.
some of the images ARE corectly resized. Random ones are not.
Just updated my LR to 5.3 from the CC and noticed a weird problem that I never encountered before in LR4 or 5.x (before 5.3 that is). I usually export pictures from RAW format to either TIFF or JPG (100% quality) and depending on purpose I use batch resizing, e.g. 1080 pixels on short edge ... well that whole Resize setting gets ignored by LR 5.3! It still exports full size (full RAW size in this case) into JPG or TIFF, but it won't resize .
EDIT:
I found out that I checked the "Don't enlarge" box in Export dialog under Resizing, that's when resizing was not working. After I unchecked it then it works fine, but still what does that have to do with anything if we are talking about downsampling images from 5184x3456 pixels to 1620x1080 ...
I take a large number of event images and the usual client request for images being sent to the press is image size rather than resolution, dimensions or other requirements.
Clearly in LR3 if the client has requested 3MB jpg the easy option is to after processing take my Canon 5d mkii RAW file and just hit export to max 3MB jpg.
My question is is it better - ie image quality better - to export by resizing longest edge to approx 3000 px and exporting to jpg which results in a similar file size, though different pixel dimensions? Or are they effectively the same?
I have just bought a copy of the LR5 upgrade disc on the understanding that I can upgrade from LR3 without the need to go via LR4.
However, I can not get the disc to run at all, it is not recognising the disc as having any content.
I have around 500 photos of somebody tagged that I would like to burn to a disc. What is the best way to do this in LR? Just drag the photos to a folder on my Mac to burn them or is there another way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of moving all my pictures to an externa drive with usb3 (2,5", 5400), so I can use my laptop, and another computer with lightroom.
My first concern is if it's a good idea to keep the catalog on the drive, so that I have the same catalog when I use my second computer. Is there a risk with this and will this affect the speed using lightroom? If I keep the catalog local, can I then work work (rate, add keywords etc) with the pictures without my disc connected (when traveling)?
Will the work be much slower compared to multiple internal 7200 discs as on my stationary pc? I have a lot of photos (45000, DNG) and prefer to keep all om the same drive, (but using my laptop I will have more time to reduce)I have a Dell xps12 (touch), with windows8, 256 gb SSD and i7 with 8 gb ram.
This is such a common task, there may be cause to have a Resize option bundled with the Export command. Having to always perform them as two separate steps is an annoyance, but the possibility of accidentally saving the wrong resolution back to the XCF file is a danger.
A question that asked late last year as I had a need to resize and keep working on original. That's when I found the save for web had been reinstated as 2.6.
Part of the motivation for the save/export distinction in the firstplace is later being able to introduce such improvements to exportworkflows (as well as other neat things; like being able to choosebetween export presets, multiple named regions - and more). Without aclear conceptual internal seperation - such future improvements willbe much harder.
I'm using LR4 and trying to export a .mov file. I have 4 files all taken the same day and two of the files export correctly and two give me this pop-up in the title. I have successfully played these videos as a quicktime movie on Windows Media Player before and after I received this message. I am exporting using H.264 at max quality setting.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed a new primary disc (C: in Windows 7 Pro) and re-downloaded LR4.2 release candidate. Can I simply copy the existing LR catalog (which I have on old disk, still accessible via USB, or from several backup copies) to the new disc and LR will work as it did previously. The drive letters of the locations of the actual image files (on other internal drives) have now changed so how do I tell LR to now use the new drive letter locations.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to LR 3 , after downloading photo's from 3 CF cards from a wedding then editing I put chosen best shots into a smart collection and all seemed in order numbers wise etc, when I burnt to a disc they are now not in order of the days event, how can I make sure they are of the following : -
1 - All the same size photo's ready to be printed or put in an album.
2 - How can I make sure the order in which I see them in the library smart collection is burnt in the same order onto a disc, as I have burnt from library and they are all out of order of the wedding event when looked at on the disc !!
my photo's are in numbered order in the library but when burned to disc are all random, they have been edited from 3 cards and saved as a smart colllection, how can I get them to burn in order as library shows them !

I save the changes to disc but this does not work, they show unadjusted in the "photo file". When I edit the image in PS Elements and save they display corrected on Apple TV.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just started shooting film again. Having just received back my first few rolls back scanned as JPEGs on to CD, I wanted to import these into my Lightroom library (LR5), but have been unable to do so.
I am trying to import them the same way I import RAW digital files, but when I try that way, they won't import. The only way they import is when there is no destination file set and they are simply stuck in a general "New Folder". Even when I try to simply rename the "new folder" to something more specific I am unable to do so.
I have some fotos that are apparently too small for the 1920 x 1080 format of my film.
What do I need to master about the relationship between three items (canvas size, image size, and document size) so that I can smoothly resize a bunch of images in Photoshop for export into Premiere Pro in that 1920 x 1080 format?
I will be constraining my proportions... if the images are too big, I will do a Ken Burns "zoom out" effect in the film.
I'm going to try this again. Using PS CC for photographers, that is Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5.x, new iMac running Mavericks.
Having processed an image in LR and PS, and saved as TIFF back to LR. All is well.
If and when I subsequently take the TIFF back into PS for further tweaks and again save as TIFF back to LR, replacing the original TIFF, I then get the Metadata Conflict warning, the exclamation mark.
As far as metadata goes, I don't want to lose what I did in LR....that is, keywords, color codes, captions, gps data, etc. I do want to retain the additional adjustments I made in PS.
I've noticed that when I choose to 'import settings from disc' that the color code disappears and I have to re-do it.
If I select the 'overwrite with LR settings' option, my concern is that I lose those PS adjustments.
My questions is: WHAT settings could have been changed in my round trip to PS that trigger the warning?
Win 8.1 64 bit A Toshiba Satellite laptop, LR 5.3. When I try to export I get a window without export buttons at the bottom to do the export. Further if I try to resize the export window the export window disappears and LR freezes requiring to ctrl/alt/del to close it. I cannot export anything to HD or email, etc.
I was in a class last night where everyone had Macs and the buttons appeared on their versions and worked fine. Totally repeatable. I can supply screen shots.
Makes LR totally useless.
I've created various snapshots of a series of photos and I'm ready to export. Is there a way to export all the snapshots at once, in a single export step? Up to now, I've been doing this step by step, exporting one version of the image, than going to the next snapshot and exporting again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version - 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box.
I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?
It has come to my attention that the new drag-resize feature only changes the master diameter of the brush but leaves the dual-brush diameter intact. It is the only shortcut that does this resizing improperly.
I would like to know if everyone else experiences the same problem. Is it a bug or is this way of resizing intended?
I mainly do digital paintings and this small bug makes the feature useless for me. I hope that it will be fixed at least in cs5.
I have noticed that if the export function uses constraint "Resize to fit"=Short Edge, than this version of lightroom does not resize the image. A maximum size jpeg is being generated.
A workaround is to use a different resize constraint, for example "Resize to fit"=Long Edge. This works as usual.
I want to resize a photo within LR so the resulting file size is reduced? Is the only way to create an Export Preset?

See my assumption was that 50% + 50% = 100%. So if you had a solid black layer set to 50% opacity and you duplicated that layer one would think that it would be solid black again... but no is only 75% black. WHAT?
The other thing is that solid black with and opacity level of 50% over solid white is a true 50% gray which is half black and half white - do to half's not make a whole?
