Is it possible in LR4 to take a 3:2 image and resize it to a 4:5 ratio without cropping or loss of parts of the image? A friend asked and I can't see how it could be done without distortion or loss or portions of the image (i.e., as in a crop).

I know I can choose the 4:3 aspect each time and then sync but that's 3 or 4 clicks and whereas if I can add it to an existing preset, it's no extra clicks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to use the crop tool to edit my image - I want the crop tool to maintain the image dimensions (i.e. 4x6), BUT I don't want the image to be resampled. All I see with the crop tool is that if I want the size to be constrained, it makes me pick a specific size, not an aspect ratio.
For example, if I say 4 inches by 6 inches and crop a very small section of my image, it will crop it, but then resample it and blow it up to a 4 inch by 6 inch photo. I really just want the ratio to be maintained. 4x6.
I have a regular 4 x 6 picture. I want to crop it and then keep that as a 4 x 6 and print out. I also want to deal with "inches" here.

Also the resize part. nevermind I got it figured, I just had to resize the image and the canvas follows suit. I didn't know that, thought I had to resize canvas first then image like in photoshop.
I've got a photo - let's say of 800X600.
I want this photo to be 200X135, but I tried so hard and couldn't do that without distorting the image.
I have several hundred small portrait photos of different size that I need to resize to a 120 x 120 pixels size. Currently they are not 1:1. I've previously used Picasa to resize images manually, and this gives me the opportunity of easily crop and resize so that the face is not cut or looks too small. But I need to do this in a batch since I have a huge amount of pictures. So far I haven't been able to figure out if Photoshop can detect the face automatically and crop/resize around it. The batch processes I have tried to create end up with the face/head being cut on several pictures.
I'm using Photoshop CC.
I need to resize and crop an image to a certain size frequently. I took a look at pyrochild's ScriptLab, but it doesn't seem to support these features. Is there any way I can automate this in Paint.net? I know I could use other programs like IrfanView, but I really like Paint.Net and would like to use it for everything.

Or, just the original, indicating camera and lens, aperture and exposure?
when I select the crop tool, my image disappears during the entire crop process. I can only see the image in the preview pane. Why is this happening? I am using the most current version of Lightroom, and I am on a PC.

I go to tranform image size and the outline surrounding the photo only moves up/down or side-to-side. How do I get the outline to move at the corners so I can easily manipulate the size? Either way - FN, CTRL, Win or other buttons do nothing to enlarge photo to where I want to set it. How can I accomplish this - any experts on touchpad conversion to number keypads out there? This is Win8 with PSE11. I just want this computer to get up to par to do some photo editing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am testing the trial version of Lightroom 5.2. My new camera is a Canon EOS 70D. When importing RAW files into Lightroom the colors of some photos are wrong. RAWs from my older 450D are fine.
For example on one photo the sky isn't blue but turquoise. When using the DNG Converter I get the same color. The sky was blue though. When opening the file in Digital Photo Professional by Canon, the sky is blue as it should be.
It happens on some other photos as well. Mostly if they have a high blue content. If in Lightroom I increase the blue content and decrease the shades it almost looks as it should.
In the "old days" in LR4, when I want to edit in PS6, I get a dialog box asking if I want to edit the original file or the file with LR adjustments.
Now, from LR 5.2 to PS CC, no dialog box.
Did I miss something?

The shadows and highlights algorithms differed between LR4 and CR. I was a little shocked because I don't see any difference.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI finished editing 1500 photos in Lightroom 4 on a calibrated monitor, running 32Gigs of RAM (still sluggish). I noticed that the Library module was noticeably different from what I saw in the Develop module. It looked like none of the noise reduction I applied had made it to the Library preview. I tried rebuilding the standard previews and it did not work. I zoomed in 1:1 preview and when I zoomed out the preview was correct. I have to click on 1500 photos to view them correctly?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm going to move my image library, catalog and ACR cache to an external drive so that I can work with a consistent set of files and edits on multiple computers. I know what I need to do to move the catalog, and I know how to move the image files to the new drive so that LR is aware of the move.
But what I'd really like to do is copy the image files to the new drive while leaving the existing images on the internal drive as a backup. As far as I can tell, LR doesn't support copying of images within the program. If I copy the files outside of LR, without deleting the originals, LR is going to conitinue to point to the orignal files on the internal disk.
So, if I right click on a folder in the Library module folder tree, there's an option to Update Folder Location, and this seems to do what I need it to do, although I've only tried it on a single folder. Will Update Folder Location work to relink an entire folder tree in one operation?
One related question: Where does LR store it's preferences? One of the catalog specific preferences is Standard Preview Size. My desktop has much higher res monitors than my laptop, so if this setting is stored in the catalog then I'll have to pick one value for both computers. I'm thinking it would be better to use the larger value, for the desktop, but I'm not sure how that will play on the laptop. (It would be nice if this were computer specific, rather than catalog specific.)
I have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version - 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box.
I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?
It has come to my attention that the new drag-resize feature only changes the master diameter of the brush but leaves the dual-brush diameter intact. It is the only shortcut that does this resizing improperly.
I would like to know if everyone else experiences the same problem. Is it a bug or is this way of resizing intended?
I mainly do digital paintings and this small bug makes the feature useless for me. I hope that it will be fixed at least in cs5.
I have noticed that if the export function uses constraint "Resize to fit"=Short Edge, than this version of lightroom does not resize the image. A maximum size jpeg is being generated.
A workaround is to use a different resize constraint, for example "Resize to fit"=Long Edge. This works as usual.
I want to resize a photo within LR so the resulting file size is reduced? Is the only way to create an Export Preset?

I know I can resize images in LR's export but not with the control that I would have in PS which will show me the best size (in inches) for a given dpi. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am missing a crop tool which can rotate the crop rectangle. Similar to photoshop's tool. I found no way to rotate the crop rectangle in gimp. How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.

Problem I am having is I can get it to 2388x1589 or 2420x1619 or finally after many tries (over a minute of attempting) got it to 2399x1599. Is there any way to FORCE it to a specific dimension?
Also, on export I know you can resize an image, but are you able to apply a resize within lightroom itself?
