Lightroom :: Get Rid Of Device In Import Panel That Is Not Plugged Into Computer?
Apr 23, 2012
I had an old phone that I used to connect to my computer but it has been lost for a while now. When I go to import images from lightroom, the first device that Lightroom 4 sees is the old phone. How can I get rid of this device when I go to import images?
I just bought a MacBook Air as my travel device. I have a Windows laptop that I use for everyday activities and processing. I just did a shoot and imported my RAW files into a brand new catalog on the MBA. I flagged picks and did some processing (both heavy processing and light processing) on the MBA. I saved Metadata to file, ejected the external hard drive from the MBA and then hooked it up to the Windows device.
Issue #1: I cannot open the new catalog created on the MBA on my Windows device. It just fails. Issue #2: When I simply synchronize the drive to the Windows laptop, the files do come in and the processing that I did comes in too. However, the flags do not transport. And, any adjustments I did with the adjustment brush are not available for editing on the Windows laptor. (If I "reset" it does go back to the original RAW file, but before resetting, I have no access to the adjustement brush settings on the Windows device)
I just downloaded LR4 and when I plug in my card reader the images will not open and the icons on the upper rt and upper left are not present. How can I resolve this to show my images so they can be seen and selected?
I'm trying to figure out how to have the code use touchstart only if the user is using a touch device. Mousedown & Mouseover would be used if the user is on a desktop.
I would like to use LR on a second computer. My photos are stored on an external hard drive. How do I import the images onto the second computer through LR and keep the changes that I have already made. I tried and the images were in their original state.
At home I still have the trial version (I wait for 4.2 to see if it will be much faster before buying it) and today I do some photo development at work (we also have 4.1 version).
What I'd like to know is it it's possible to import the processings settings of each photos to my own catalog ????
Here is how I did my work:
At home my raws are on an external USB drive and I import my pictures from this disk: path is I:Mes photos<subject + date of the photoshoot> My Lightroom catalog is in it's default path (user profile, my pictures).
At work, I put my photos on a temp director c:MyRawPictures and import them into lightroom.
Now how can I export the development settings from the lightroom at work and import them in my home setup ?
I saw a menu "import from another catalog". can I use this one ? If yes, do I need to copy the "Lightroom catalog" folder ?
Without any warning my computer simplu shuts down, similar to the effect of unplugging it from the power outlet. No shutdown screen or anything. This happens somewhere during the process of exporting or importing photos.
In LR5 I am trying to import a folder but it is so deep within my hard drive that there are lots of parent folders I have to click through to get to it. The problem is that the left pane is only a few inches wide and by the time I get closer to the folder I wan, I can't see it. It seems like I should be able to simply widen the panel by clicking and dragging the edge of the panel but no slider arrows appear when I hover there. How do I widen the panel?
I've been using LR3 for over a year - current version 3.6. For no apparent reason, the 'Make second copy' menu item no longer shows in the import panel. Imported files are copied to the location specified the last time the item was available. I've looked in all of panels, but don''t find any way to disable the second copy function, or to manage the second copy function. I'm running MAC 10.6.8.
I import my photos into an external drive, raw format. . My computer has never run so slow. If I process those images, are they somehow on my main computer or still on the external drive?
I just bought Photoshop Elements 11 recently and I'm trying to import photos and videos from my phone, Samsung Galaxy SIII, but having a little trouble.
When I go to "Import from Camera or Card Reader" option and choose my phone from the "Get photos from" drop down menu in "Source" section the "Photo downloaded" finds every single photo and/or video stored on the device and it's memory card but I'm trying to import only photos and/or videos I've shot my self with the phone, witch is kept in an folder named DCIM, but I simply can't figure out how to so my question is: How do I import photos and/or videos from my Android device?
Trying to import images from my camera - Canon T3i. Using both the SD card plugged into a reader and camera with full battery plugged in USB gets the error "Cannot obtain all files from this device. Please ensure that the devices is connected properly, or that the battery is charged. The files that have been obtained till now will be sent to Elements Organizer." All updates installed, running on Vista x64, Elements 10.
I started a new computer with LR5, and it runs fine. But, when I imported my pics from a previous computer running LR4, all the pics loaded into the new LR without any tags or processing. How can I get that info without having ot reprocess thousands of pictures?
When I connect my camera to the computer, Lr does not automatically open. I have gone to the Preferances interface to ensure Show import dialog when memory card is connected is checked.
Lr does not even show up in the Auto Play pop up window.
I imported many photos from my external device (CF card or iPhone) manually, i.e. I think Lightroom does not recognize that I have already imported all those Photos.
Now I want to change my workflow and import them directly from the device. I want to use the functionality that only "new" Photos are shown and imported. However, Lightroom marks all thousands of Photos on my iPhone and CF card as new. How can I manually "unmark" all Photos on the card as "new" such that Lightroom will identify the "next" Photos as new but not the old ones?
How does the "new" detection algorithm work anyways? Will it work correctly if I move the imported pictures afterwards or delete some?
I have .MP4 files in folder Z:Camcorder . I can import them into Pro X3, but that program is very cumbersome for simple purposes. So I thought I'd try Express 2010...
To my amazement, Express doesn't know how to import files! I click on Import Computer, check the box for Z:Camcorder, press the Start button, and...Nothing! No folder, no media contents.
Is Express this much harder to work with than Pro?
I have all my data and LR installed on a desktop machine. As I never find time at home to cleanse and work on images, I would love to do so on my journeys and trips... Therefore I installed LR5 also on my laptop and would like to play around with smart previews to shape my workflow.
Is there a description on how one can generate the smart previews on the main machine and transfer them onto the mobile device?
When I have this set up and running. Would the import and work on new photos on the run also join back into the main library once back home togehter with the smart preview sync or would this have to be covered by another workflow importing a new catalogue?
Quick question How do I import my gradient map settings from CS3 on my old I mac into my new Mac that uses CS6? Is there a folder somewhere that I can just copy and paste?
I have a new computer and was using ELements 9 on the old one. I have downloaded the programme and aslo copied the catalogue over from the old computer. How do i import the catalogue? When I click on Import, it doesnt mention catalogue, only Frame for Video and Wia support.
The usual import menue has the options for importing on the right hand side. My system is now showing an import dialouge box and the import dialouge on the right is greyed out. How do I get back to the standard import screen.
This issue occured shortly after update to 4.2, but not directly after. I am using windows 8.
The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.
I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.
I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.
System is an Acer Aspire 7811 64 bits w/ Intel i7, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 GB internal mem and no external drives.
I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
I want to move or add Photoshop & Lightroom to a new computer. I read somewhere that the licensing agreement allows installation on two computers if they are not used at the same time, which is my case. Is this true? Tried to access the licensing PDF on the Adobe site, but it seems to be down.
