Is there a way to create more color labels than just the ones that LR defaults to? Here's my use so you'll know what I'm trying to do. I use a different color for the "model" photo of a particular insect family. This allows me to search using this color and use the photos as my "easy cheat sheet" for making IDs. Since there are more than 5 insect families, I need more color options.
View 2 RepliesI've just started to use color labels and I noticed that in grid view some show up as a pale color and some show up as a darker color even when set to the same label color. I can't find a rhyme or reason to this. Why this happens?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to add additional color labels? The existing ones are a bit... primary. It would be useful to include other (well, secondary) colors as well. Also, black/gray/white would be nice.
Can I add them myself somehow, or do we need to fall onto our knees and cry out to Adobe? I hope not.
Using Lightroom 4.3 atm, considering an upgrade to 5.0. If this were a 5.0 feature, I'll consider it a selling point
Okay, I'm new to Lightroom so be gentle. The problem I have is I have about a dozen folders on an external hard drive with files in them that I want to import to Lightroom (I'm on a Mac OS X). I had previously gone through and put color labels on all of the files but when I import them into Lightroom the color label does not translate. Is there anyway to include the color label and have it translate to Lightroom's color labeling?

1. Is there any reason for using one vs. the other? Are there any sorting advantages, etc.?

In Lr 4.1 I have just noticed that as well as red, green, yellow, blue & purple, there is a "Custom" field too. How can I configure this, and is there a shortcut I can assign (and also for purple; how do Adobe keep skipping over assigning a shortcut to Purple!!??)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI started using a mac laptop in the field and always used windows pc at home. A portable hard drive holds the lightroom catalog. It's fat32 formatted so it can be used by both mac and windows.
A catalog made by the mac lightroom opens fine in windows. However, all the color labels are lost. The flags and stars are retained.
If a color label is changed on a photo by the windows version of lightroom, then when that catalog is opened on the mac, that photo has no color label. (even though the mac originally gave it a color label)
And all the original color labels that were made by the mac magically return as they were assigned.
To trouble shoot this, I installed the Lightroom 3.6 trial on 2 other pcs - one runs windows 7 32 bit and the other windows 7 64 bit. These installs see the mac created catalog properly.
All the color labels are there and changing one on a windows box is properly reflected on the mac when that catalog is opened.
This is so annoying.My main pc must have an allergy to my mac. I removed and reinstalled lightroom on my pc-same problem. Now i have to figure out what is interfering with my main pc lightroom install.
It cant be lightroom cause i removed it and reinstalled it. but it might be one of the plug ins i use. these magically reappearred even after i reinstalled lightroom after removing it.
i run lightroom 4 last version 64bit ,w7 64bit.
can i assign words to color labels like bridge ?
in bridge ->preference->labels-> i can set for example for red "good for print"

Currently, resulting curves have to be edited one color at a time to give them hairline outlines with the same color as the fill. It's mighty tedious for complex vector art.

I went into the Roaming - Adobe - Lightroom folder and found "Label Sets" but I fear what is in there is the Lr5 stuff

How to change the keyboard shortcuts for applying Color Labels to photos? I have Keyboard Tamer, and I was able to remove the shortcuts for applying star ratings, but there seems to be no way to change the commands in Photo > Set Color Label.
See, many times a day I will click the white balance color temperature fileld and start typing "5500" only to then realize that the click on the entry field didn't activate it and I have now inadvertently changed the ratings and/or label colors for several photos. Super frustrating to then have to undo a bunch of times, especially when I'm viewing based on rating and/or color label, because photos can spontaneously vanish from view.
I used to mark images yellow in LR if I needed to do further work on them in Photoshop. Once exported as jpegs, I'd open them in Bridge and sort for color labels. In the last year or so, Bridge stopped seeing those labels. It doesn't work in CS4 or CS6.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI currently have my LR 4 libriaries and catalogs on a external drive that i can transport between my laptop and office mac. The only issue I am having is when I color label photos on one computer it does not show up on the other computer. Is there a preference for this? It is the only thing I can't figure out and is frustrating after rating them on one computer and then not having them later on the other.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe create points tool window doesn't use the Points Creation options I set for Default Elevation and Description, when go to create a bunch of points I have to key these in for each one. I know if I go and set these in the settings tab they will stick, but I would like for the tool window to work like it implies.

When I select a color for text and shapes, the software defaults to shades of gray, although black and white are available. I use the eyedropper to select red on the pallette, for example, and the red box is framed. But the color sample on both the menu bar and the tool bar sets to gray. Is there a swicth somewhere that inhibits red, green, blue, etc.?
I even reinstalled the program, thinking I had a glitch--no change. The color selection had always worked in the past.
I'm new to lightroom and heres what happened.
I edited a batch of photos, exported them and .xmp files were created in Lightroom Export folder.
Later copied the .xmp files out of the Export and and pasted them into the main folder of the cr2 files.
When I opened LR again, there was a prompt and I messed with it. The result now is that the developed settings are the defaults instead of the unedited/tweaked photos.
I'm having problems printing from Lightroom. I'm printing on a Kodak ESP C315 with Epson (not Kodak) premium quality paper. As per Kodak's instructions, I turned advanced dot placement mode off. The problem is - even after I've done this and set it as a default in the printer control panel (I'm using Windows 7 pro, by the way), Lightroom insists on turning it back on. Because I can print using the same settings perfectly happily from Photoshop.

In addition, all of my presets are not adjusting exposure/blacks/whites etc like they used to. I am using a Canon XSi. Do I just have something unchecked somewhere?

I do not store my images on the C: drive which Lightroom seems to default to. I want to set it to use an external drive, drive F:.
Have just got new PC with Windows 7 OS. LR 4.1 64bit is installing insofar as I can see (from purchased disc/DVD) but not responding when I try to open it. When I click on desktop shortcut or try to access from Start Menu it defaults to Task-bar. I have not been asked for serial numbers etc. either.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the past I keyword in photo mechanie and then synchronize in Lightroom and it brings in the keywords, but leaves the pictures as they are, which usually is at the imported stage with the camera default setting applied.
However now when I do it it simply imports the keywords and wipes all previously applied settings including the camera default settings that I used on import.
I have been using LR each and every day I have never once utilized any of the four default terms cooked-into the 'Metadata' Library Filter ('Date', 'Camera', 'Lens', 'Label').
Is there a way for me to set up new metadata search terms as defaults so I don't have to putz w/changing the same-old-same-old each and every time I open this filter?
Is it possible to create C3D labels that are non-associative? That is, they do not adjust font size, etc., with changes in viewport scale.

I am creating a title block in Revit Architecture 2012. I am trying to create new labels for my title block and cannot seem to get it to work. I created a shared parameter and added the parameters I wanted to add to my title block. I chose the "common" discipline and the type of parameter as "text". I added these parameters to the label parameters I wanted to insert into the title block. When I do so they show up in the edit family, but when I load them into my project they don't show up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a set of Lightroom Print templates that I am trying to use, that are all for a 4x6 print. I can't get it to work because my page setup in the print module defaults to letter size. When I go in and change the page setup, it messes up the template and it gets all jumbled. Then when I go on to the next template, it switches back to letter size again. I want to create and hold a 4x6 canvas so these templates can either be saved to a 4x6 .jpg or printed on 4x6 paper. I know I can save a printer and page layout as part of a template by clicking the "update settings" once I have it all as i want it, but I can't even get that far because it messes up the template as soon as I change the page settings to 4x6. How do I get the canvas to 4x6 on templates that are already created so I can save them as a 4x6 .jpg or print to 4x6 paper?
I even just installed a printer that only prints 4x6 to see, but again, when I change the page layout it completely messes up the template.
