View 3 RepliesI am having a problem with moving my photos from a MacBook Pro to a PC laptop. All the files reside in one directory on an external drive. I copied the catalog from the Mac to the PC, connected the drive, started LR and pointed to the copied catalog. As expected, LR did not know where the files from the external drive were, so I highlighted the drive, right clicked the photo directory and told it to find missing files. I then pointed it to the proper directory on the drive. It only partially worked. Several of the subdirectories on the drive did not relink. If I take the drive off the PC and put it back on the Mac, the subdirectories are properly linked, where on the PC, some aren't.
I can reimport, but then I have to do edits all over again on those photos.
moving my photos from the old computer to a new one with all of the information and changes made. Is ther a step by step written directions any where? This is for LR 4.3

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Pro and just bought an iMac.
On my Mac Pro, the LR catalog is on the boot drive. The photos are on a separate internal drive.
My plan is to copy both the photos and the LR catalog to the 3 TB Fusion drive of the iMac.
Would I then just double-click on the catalog to open it, and use this process to "reconnect" the missing photo files?
I recently had a computer crash and want to migrate my photos and changes from my old hard drive into my newly installed Lightroom software on the new computer. I recovered the old drive, and accessed it from my new computer. I found the most recent Lightroom catalog and imported it. Then I imported all of my photos into Lightroom. The problem is that the catalog and the photos don't seem to be talking to each other. In the catalog, the photos are there all bunched together, no folders separating by date. In the photo folders that ARE separated by date, the original photos are there as they were first imported (RAW files), but don't have the develop changes that I made to them. How can I get these two things to link up?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created a BIG catalogue with photos from various drives. And each time I've used "export" to copy the photos to an internal drive on a brand new computer with a huge drive.
I'd like the main catalogue to ALL refer to the files on the new huge drive?
I import my photos into an external drive, raw format. . My computer has never run so slow. If I process those images, are they somehow on my main computer or still on the external drive?

When I select the pictures and click on share to Flickr, none of my pictures appear in the share box to upload. I have tried this multiple ways, with sharing and then selecting the pictures and also by selecting and then sharing to no avail. I currently have a 30 day trial and am not certain if that is the reason why it is not working? I want to make sure that this feature works before I actually buy the program as I am in the process of scanning, editing and uploading 1000s of old photographs for family members. I have the Elements 12 and am using Windows 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen opening my jpeg photos in Photoshop elements 9, once saved elements seems put the image in a format that my Apple Mac isn't compatible with. So when I then try and upload the images to Facebook or other software in a bulk upload the images are highlighted and I therefore can't select them and upload.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust loaded PS Elements v11. Have used PS Elements v7-9 previously. When sharing photos using e-mail (comcast.net) as attachments and photo mail, I was able to enter a message to recipient before sending the e-mail. In Elements 11, in area where text can be entered, I cannot get a cursor to type a message. The phrase, Here are photos....., is embedded there and can't even erase. Area is frozen to using a cursor. Sending the e-mail is no problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been a user of Aperture for some time now and finally decided to make the switch to Lightroom and all in all i am very impressed with the whole program!
I am wanting to set up a way of 'dynamically' or at least as dynamically as possible sharing certain folders containing family images with our wider family, in the UK and overseas, rather than reinvent the wheel i wanted to see what ways people have found to do it..
We have a server and the original photos will be stored there. How can we manage the library so that both users have the same library contents.
In other words, can we have one library of 50,000 pictures that we can both access?
I've recently started using Lightroom 4 and was dissapointed that I was unable to share my catalog across Windows and OSX like I've been able to with LR2 and 3. Has the file structure changed in any way? I primarily use a Windows computer at home, but when I'm on the go, I have a MacBook Pro with that Mac version of LR4. All of my photos and catalogs are stored on an external USB 3.0 HDD. Though loading up the catalog on a Mac shows all of my folders as question marks. It seems that Windows reads the drive as a letter designator, ex. D: and OSX reads it as a volume. Used to before this wasn't a problem. Any different way I can get this to work specifically with this program. I am already aware that I can just load Boot Camp onto my mac and run it that way.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop CS5 is up and running on my new iMac all-in-one. However, when I transferred my photos from my old PC (Photoshop 6.0) the captions from all .psd files transferred successfully but none of the captions from .jpeg files transferred. I used a simple transfer of the photos from an external disk to "My Pictures" on the iMac. How can I redo this transfer so that ALL of the captions get transferred?
View 1 Replies View Relatedadd keywords & metadata to an extremely large group of photos in Lightroom 4. The intern will have their own workstation so we'll be passing files back and forth. I need to add their work to mine, keeping all of the keyword/metadata work tied to the virtual photos which already have some work done to them (some keywords, metatdata and photo enhancements already in place on some photos).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that LR isn't set up for sharing over a network, but I need to have different staff accessing the catalog from different computers at different times. I would like to store all the photos on a Drobo NAS, keeping the catalog on a desktop. Then create a mirror image sync of the catalog on different computers using chronosync.Users will not be accessing the ctalogs simultaneously.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI edited some photos today using GIMP 2.8.
I am now unable to delete the edited photos, rename the edited photos, or move the edited photos to another folder. Basically, they are stuck in their spot. I'm not even able to pull up the "Properties" selection from right-clicking the edited photo.
I tried to open them using IrfanView, but when I go to delete the photo using that program, it makes it not respond.
I can open the photo up in Paint, save it as a different format, and delete it - but the original edited photo is still there.
How can I move and delete edited photos? I've never ran into this problem in all the years I've been using GIMP.
