Photoshop :: Locks Up My Computer!
Jul 16, 2007i do a couple of brushstrokes, especially with brushes larger than 50 pixels, the program locks up my computer. It worked just fine before, but then my video card broke, and i had to use my onboard card that takes 32 mb's out of the computer RAM. When i tried to use a friend's card, photoshop worked just fine! I've tried photoshop 6, 7, cs and cs3, none of them work, they all crash.

May 20, 2013I have been able to reproduce this lock up consistently using the Lighting Effects, and I can also get it to lock up while using the Lasso tool, and also setting guides, but those are less consistant. I have tried to switch the advanced graphics options around too. It is currently on normal though. I currently have the GeForce Drivers v. 320.14 installed, which at the time of this post is the most recent stable build. I have even gone so far as to try every GeForce driver from 295.73 to 320.14 with no luch at resolution. Some of the drivers let me get a little further with the lighting effects, but still eventually lock up the computer... Currently I have had to uninstall Photoshop and then re-install it just to get PDF export to work right, but even after updating to the newest version of PS, I still get these lockups.
Here are the rest of my specs just in case.

Nov 7, 2011Autocad 2012 LT locks up when using the copy and move commands. This last for a minute or more then starts working again. The rest of the computer works fine while this is going on. Intel i7 2600 16 GB ram Nvidia G force GTX 460 video card, Windows 7 Home Edition with SP 1 and latest upgades.

May 7, 2013Photoshop CS5 is up and running on my new iMac all-in-one. However, when I transferred my photos from my old PC (Photoshop 6.0) the captions from all .psd files transferred successfully but none of the captions from .jpeg files transferred. I used a simple transfer of the photos from an external disk to "My Pictures" on the iMac. How can I redo this transfer so that ALL of the captions get transferred?

I have selected all images in Grid View, right-clicked to Develop Settings...Auto Tone. I can then go to the Develop page and Auto Tone is shown in every images History.the Auto button is still visible and I can click on it and get different [generally better] settings.
Is there a reason why Auto Tone applied to multiple photos produces different development settings from when it is applied individually to each photo?

See, many times a day I will click the white balance color temperature fileld and start typing "5500" only to then realize that the click on the entry field didn't activate it and I have now inadvertently changed the ratings and/or label colors for several photos. Super frustrating to then have to undo a bunch of times, especially when I'm viewing based on rating and/or color label, because photos can spontaneously vanish from view.

I changed my background color to near black globally and since the default font is also black, all of my captions need to change to white. I'd also like them a little larger. Jul 23, 2013I am having a problem with moving my photos from a MacBook Pro to a PC laptop. All the files reside in one directory on an external drive. I copied the catalog from the Mac to the PC, connected the drive, started LR and pointed to the copied catalog. As expected, LR did not know where the files from the external drive were, so I highlighted the drive, right clicked the photo directory and told it to find missing files. I then pointed it to the proper directory on the drive. It only partially worked. Several of the subdirectories on the drive did not relink. If I take the drive off the PC and put it back on the Mac, the subdirectories are properly linked, where on the PC, some aren't.
I can reimport, but then I have to do edits all over again on those photos.

Jan 2, 2013I have switched my "mouse" over to the number keypad like it says to do for the touchpad computer. I go to tranform image size and the outline surrounding the photo only moves up/down or side-to-side. How do I get the outline to move at the corners so I can easily manipulate the size? Either way - FN, CTRL, Win or other buttons do nothing to enlarge photo to where I want to set it. How can I accomplish this - any experts on touchpad conversion to number keypads out there? This is Win8 with PSE11. I just want this computer to get up to par to do some photo editing.

Sep 3, 2013I edited some photos today using GIMP 2.8.
I am now unable to delete the edited photos, rename the edited photos, or move the edited photos to another folder. Basically, they are stuck in their spot. I'm not even able to pull up the "Properties" selection from right-clicking the edited photo.
I tried to open them using IrfanView, but when I go to delete the photo using that program, it makes it not respond.
I can open the photo up in Paint, save it as a different format, and delete it - but the original edited photo is still there.
How can I move and delete edited photos? I've never ran into this problem in all the years I've been using GIMP.

On my Mac Pro, the LR catalog is on the boot drive. The photos are on a separate internal drive.
My plan is to copy both the photos and the LR catalog to the 3 TB Fusion drive of the iMac.
Would I then just double-click on the catalog to open it, and use this process to "reconnect" the missing photo files?

Nov 2, 2013I recently had a computer crash and want to migrate my photos and changes from my old hard drive into my newly installed Lightroom software on the new computer. I recovered the old drive, and accessed it from my new computer. I found the most recent Lightroom catalog and imported it. Then I imported all of my photos into Lightroom. The problem is that the catalog and the photos don't seem to be talking to each other. In the catalog, the photos are there all bunched together, no folders separating by date. In the photo folders that ARE separated by date, the original photos are there as they were first imported (RAW files), but don't have the develop changes that I made to them. How can I get these two things to link up?
