I frequently use the command 'open as layers in Photoshop'. Suddenly, the only thing that happens after clicking on this demand, is that PS opens (I work with CS5 and LR4). But no images. I can work around with cmd-E for each file, but that is quite a hassle.
View 5 RepliesI have this brand new PC, got it last week, i7 core, SSD drive, 16gb ram.When I open my PSD doc with my design (approx 43mb psd file) then the photoshop application spikes in memory usage, to 3.5gb (from 120mb), and moving groups and layers around is DEAD SLOW, horrible lag.

I had CS3 on my previous PC, which was Core2 Duo with 4gb ram, and the speeds there were similar on the same psd document.I've also tried CS5.1 on a similar PC hardware specs as my new PC, and moving groups and layers around is much faster.Is it just CS6? Why is this so slow?
i recovered .nef raw image files from a dead external drive. i now can not open them in any program. the message i get in CS6 is 'could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file.'Â

originally the extension was .NEF now it is .nef- i dont know if that makes a difference, but i hope the file is somewhat corrupted but still fixable.

usually the .NEF file has a .xmp sidecar file with it. these ended up separated from the original .NEF when the files were corrupted, and i cant match them up.
Area of iMac screengoes dead to tools after using Lr5 every couple of days. Can only be sorted by closing and restarting
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was successfully shooting tethered using Lightroom 4.3 (PC laptop with Windows 7) and my Canon 5D Mark III, however when I disconnected the cable I was no longer able to see anything on the back of the camera, no image playback, no menu, no live view, nothing. How do I recover the functionality of the camera's back screen. I tried removing the battery for a while, replacing the battery, taking out the memory card. Don't know how to "reset" the camera. Note the top display on the camera and the view finder display work fine, I can change settings with my dials. Was working in Manual Exposure mode, and also tried Aperture Priority. If I reconnect to the laptop I can still work in tethered mode, but after disconnecting the camera back is still dead.

Was I somehow supposed to disconnect the camera from tethered capture before disconnecting the cable?Â
My laptop died. I have photos in LR that I didn't export. I have the hard drive from the crashed laptop connected to another computer. Where are the photos located in that hard drive?

I used to 'merge to panorama', or 'open as layers' in Photoshop regularly, but today it no longer works. When I try, the message comes up: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 6.6 for full compatibility. Please update the Camera Raw plug-in using the update tool available in the Photoshop help menu."

When I go to Photoshop Help Menu, 'no available updates at this time' is the message that comes up. I manually downloaded the Camera Raw 6.6, but to no avail.

When attempting to edit using PS, the program DOES open, but nothing happens... the files do not appear. They DO open individually when Edit in Photoshop CS4 is selected, but I prefer the 'open in layers' option, and often use the 'merge to panorama'...
I'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?

Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?
I'm using Gimp 2.8.6.Try as I might, I'm still trying to figure out how to effectively 'merge' 3 shots of the same scene taken at 3 different exposures (using the exposure bracketing feature on my camera).The idea is to end up with the equivalent of an HDR image.
I assume that I open the first image and then open the other two as layers . .

First scenario: I slice an artwork with object/layer based slicing and, using slice options panel, mark text layer based slices as "no image" ( at this point section "table" is unavaliable and "Text displayed in cell" is displayed blank (do I really have to enter manually, using html?)).But "saving for web" results with white fields in places where text should appear.Second scenario: I slice an artwork at Illustrator using object based slicing and, in slice option panel, mark text based slices as html text (some text setting appears in "Text displayd in cell" field). But after saving for web the artwork is ruined: Tables have changed their positions and dimensions, braking images apart and text (font, size, colour) is not the same as in artwork. I don't have a clue how to resolve this situation. I work with Adobe CS3 suite and CS4 Illustrator. View 2 Replies View RelatedI hit render early in the am to ship out a project for delivery. And in classic Johnny Fegan fashion my mac pro crashes, and won't boot. So my next step is to start the mac in Target Disk mode, via firewire(probably the second worst thing that has happened to me, firewire) and started to backup everything. Due to the fast turn around on the Project, I never had a chance to archive the project.

My current working config(on the mac pro that died) was an internal raid0, and a pci express ssd. The raid is where I keep my local Autodesk Media Storage folder, and the ssd is my system drive(/usr/discreet). I just completed a back up of both folders to my secondary mac pro, with a license of smoke installed, and am trying to open my project on it. I set the backup copy of my old Autodesk Media Storage folder up to be used under the Smoke setup utility, and when I access it in smoke the only option I get is to create a new project.

I remeber there was a hoop on the last release to get it to work. Why is there a hoop? Could we just have the tool there ready to use with out the hoop(s)? Is the revcloud dead in Invetor 2012?

Right in the middle of the drawing there is a gray area that denotes a transparent part I believe or where there is no path. I'm wondering, how can I change this into a path so I can fill it in with color? (don't want to use Live Paint, creates too many paths).
I've been using Autocad 2007 for the past 5 months without these issues, then I had to create a new account on my computer at work and now EVERY time I create a hatch it turns into this dead mass. Yes, I've tried creating an associative hatch, and no, I can't edit them either.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had GIMP for quite awhile but I haven't been able to use it effectively for any projects simply because I cannot open, use, or view the layers dialog box.
I've tried Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Layers - this does not work. And I've tried using the shortcut, Ctrl + L, this does not work either. I've also tried uninstalling/reinstalling GIMP, but this hasn't solved the issue either.
Basically what I need to do is capture a video shot, and place a play button on top of it. I thought the simplest way would be to just open each image as a separate layer but couldn't find a way to do that.
Eventually I made the screen shot the background image of an html page, and the play button the foreground image. Then I was able to position them just the way I wanted and capture a screen shot, then trim and edit in Gimp.
This is my first time using this program, and I accidentally closed the 'layers' window that shows the layers and lets you move them around. I can't find where to open it again.

Working in windows 7, but switching between personal Mac OSX. Both running Illustrator CS6 trial version with vectorscribe plugin. Also using wacom intuos 4 tablet. Have intermittently saved as .pdf. Problem first occured when working on mac.
can I open psd from my MAC PS in PS touch with unmerged layers. I have also opened psd, but only with merged layers.

I could either duplicate it in the same .psd, or I could duplicate it into a new file. I've tried restarting, I've checked for updates...
