Lightroom :: 4.3 - Canon 5D Mark III Back Screen Dead After Tethered Capture
Apr 12, 2013I was successfully shooting tethered using Lightroom 4.3 (PC laptop with Windows 7) and my Canon 5D Mark III, however when I disconnected the cable I was no longer able to see anything on the back of the camera, no image playback, no menu, no live view, nothing. How do I recover the functionality of the camera's back screen. I tried removing the battery for a while, replacing the battery, taking out the memory card. Don't know how to "reset" the camera. Note the top display on the camera and the view finder display work fine, I can change settings with my dials. Was working in Manual Exposure mode, and also tried Aperture Priority. If I reconnect to the laptop I can still work in tethered mode, but after disconnecting the camera back is still dead.
Was I somehow supposed to disconnect the camera from tethered capture before disconnecting the cable?

Apr 24, 2012I use an iMac with LR3. I would like to know if it is possible to enlarge the image so as to fill the screen. I have tried Window>screen mode> full screen and pressing L to get rid of panels but there is still a large black margin around the image.

Oct 14, 2012It only happens after Photoshop CS6 (fully updated i Mac and CS6 - see below image for specs) has been running for awhile. The screen, in dark areas of the display, will have screen flicker like stars twinkling on a night sky. Then the display will completely go black and then back on about every 5 seconds. The only way I can make it stop is to power the i Mac off and then start it back up. Then it's fine until the next time I start Photoshop.
It doesn't do it immediately when Photoshop starts. It's usually about 30 - 60 minutes after I've started it. Also if I open Photoshop and use it and then shut it down I don't have any issues...only after it has been running for a while.
Illustrator :: Placing Screen Grabs In IMac Vector?
Jan 28, 2014I have a layered vector drawing of an iMac. Sometimes I want to take a screen grab of a website I have created and place it within this vector to put on my website as part of my portfolio.
To do this I use the Apple screen grab command, then I shrink this very large png file and place it on the appropriate layer on my iMac vector illustration. The trouble is it looks terrible once it has been shrunk down to size. You can not read the text or the url properly...
I see websites all the time that have this type of thing and the image looks great. Any tips on how to do this?
FYI I'm working off a 27 inch mac screen, so my captured png image is always huge. The quality is getting lost when I reduce the size of the placed image in Illustrator.

Lightroom :: Open As Layers Is Dead?
Dec 22, 2012I frequently use the command 'open as layers in Photoshop'. Suddenly, the only thing that happens after clicking on this demand, is that PS opens (I work with CS5 and LR4). But no images. I can work around with cmd-E for each file, but that is quite a hassle.

Trying to use the builtin screen capture tools under Utilities/Screen capture.
There appears to be no way to do a selected capture or partial selection of parts of a window. Instead we have:
Full screen []
active window []
content of active window [x]
So I selected the last one above as shown `Content of Active Window'
But what I actually get is a mini version of the entire Designer pro 7 application Including the menus, borders, and all that guff that no one usually wants in a capture of part of the full screen.
So what does `Content of active window' mean as apposed to `Active window'?
Its really unbelievable that there is no provision like `Region' found in most screen grab tools where you select with the mouse what you want captured.
Maybe I'm just missing how to use this thing, but have included the result of what a `content of active window' does. Its a mini version of the entire application...
Photoshop :: How To Smoothly Move Crop Tools Selected Area
Oct 30, 2012I find the crop tool in CS6 to be such a pain compared to the version in LR4. When using the mouse (in CS6) to reposition the crop area the box hops around and seems to "jump" into certain positions - this is especially pronounced if it gets close to an edge.
I realize I can reposition with the arrow keys but I was wondering if there is a way to disable the "jumping" while using the mouse?

Jan 28, 2013When I am editing a picture in Photoshop, I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts for curves, hue/saturation, etc. but I get frustrated that the box shows up right in the middle of the screen, over the picture I am trying to edit. This makes me have to move it out of the way with the mouse to see what the changes will look like. Is there a way to have it default it popping up to a corner of the screen or even a way to move it without having to grab the mouse?. Apr 16, 2013 CS4 Extended. Early 2008 iMac 24", 4 GB RAM, updated to Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.3 in Dec 2012.CS4 (11.0.2) was working fine with no issues until 2 weeks ago. The startup splash screen loads and displays messages about various tools being loaded....
However, it does not go beyond: "Reading Color Settings...." and I get the spinning color ball if the cursor is over the splash screen and a blue spinning ball when the cursor is outside the splash screen.Have to use "Force Quit" to get out of the program.Adobe Acrobat Reader also does not work. Upgraded from Adobe LightRoom LR2 to LR4 and that works fine!
Here is what I have tried:
Uninstalled Acrobat Reader and CS4 Rebooted the computer Re-installed CS4 (legit copy and have serial #) Re-installed Reader Checked for updates on Adobe site and updated CS4 to 11.0.2 Rebooted the computer Started CS4..... Got to the same step "Reading Color Settings..." and the programs hangsThought that some crucial file(s) in the System may have been damaged/corrupted, so...Re-installed Mountain Lion to potentially remove/overwrite damaged filesRebooted the computer Launced CS4 and got the same results as in step 7 above
Lightroom :: Develop Preset For Import In 4.2 (iMac 10.8.2)
Oct 16, 2012how to set up a preset on the Import page (there are some there now) that I can use when I import my photos into LR. I am tired of going to Lens Correction in the Develop mod to put the nikon lens in that I used for the shoot. It is always turned off and I would like to have it activated when I import my shots. I know that while in the Develop mod, I can change it for one photo and then use "sync" to have it address all the other photos. But then it is a pain in the butt. There must be a way of doing it on import. Either that or else have it recognize the lens that I used automatically.
