Lightroom :: Enter Custom Aspect Ratios In Cropping Function - Results Are Not Right?
Mar 17, 2014In Lightroom 5.3 suddenly, when I enter custom aspect ratios in the cropping function the results are not right. The values I enter should make it shorter, but the results are making it narrower. This has been working correctly until just the last hour or so. Have I inadvertenly changed a setting of some kind?

Dec 21, 2011I have been programming our document and version control values into the sheet set object, as a result the custom property list per drawing is getting a little large and is becoming a bit hard to manage. There are now properties with values that are no longer needed. Is there a way to delete or clear or maybe reset the customproperty bag per sheetset object / sheet object?
I have been playing around with code that looks like this:

but when i get to "set" the new custom properties (which works normaly when updating a custom property or adding a custom property to a custom propertybag that I have not "cleared"), I am getting a object not set to an instance error...
Do I have to "recreate" the custom propertybag with the InitNew(ByVal pOwner as IAcSmPersist).

Jan 6, 2006I want to crop a picture to fit my new 24" 16:10 monitor. The res is 1920x1200. I don't want the picture to be stretched in any way, but I'll accept decreasing the resolution to fit my 1920x1200. So my question is, can I force the crop selection to turn 16:10?

Oct 29, 2013I currently use code similar to Lee Ambrosius's 2009 AU handout that shows how to set/create custom properties. URL.... search for the header 'Adding Sheet Set and Sheet Properties'.
I have now accumulated numerous unused custom properties in my sheet set. I haven't been able to find a way to delete these additional custom properties.
Because I use multiple subsets with multiple sheets for printing, I would rather not have to go through all the sheets, store all the custom properties I need, destroy all the existing custom properties, and then re-create just the ones I need. how to delete individual custom properties.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Deleting Old Custom Commands From The List
May 11, 2012I created a command that I no longer use. I actually made a spelling error upon creating it "SUPECLOSE" and I want to delete it.
This is how I created this command: I typed in ALIASEDIT in order to add a new alias to a command.
I then clicked on the "Add" button.
In the "Alias:" field, I typed in "xx"
And in the "AutoCAD Command:" field, I typed in "SUPECLOSE" - which isn't actually an autoCAD command. "SUPERCLOSE" is the command I use to run a custom LISP routine that I created. Upon hitting pressing "OK" to this, AutoCAD prompted me with: "'SUPECLOSE' is a new command, Do you want to add this to your list of commands?"
I said yes. And then shortly afterwards realized the spelling error I had made. Problem is...I don't know how to access this list and delete the new command that I had just created (which does nothing).

The Problem
I now need to be able to do two things:
1. Delete all custom tables that may be on the drawing ( I may have more than 1 custom table on the drawing)
2. Access the individual rows and colums in a specific table so I can write a variable into them.
I have searched high and low for the API commands, but cant seem to find them.
Photoshop :: LCD / TFT Monitor Contrast Ratios And...
Sep 6, 2008Looking to switch to the LCD / TFT type monitors - am on CRTs at the moment...
Some questions:
1/ I see that in many cases (models), even though the brightness remain constant - 300 cd/m2 - the contrast ratios vary from 800:1 to 3000:1
I would think the higher contrast ratio would be better but often more expensive monitors offer the 800:1 and cheaper ones offer the 3000:1. This from the same manufacturer. Am i missing something?
2/ Today, is there a difference between TFT and LCD when it comes to monitors or do they mean the same thing or rather are talking about the same thing?
3/ Another wild difference... some expensive ones are talking of a 16ms refresh while the cheaper ones are at 5ms
4/ Ideally, i'm looking for a 1600 x 1200 but - obviously these are not the widescreens. See some available at 20/21 inch category and they are the traditional 3:4 screen ratio (like CRTs). So would it be better to go for a 24" at 1920 x 1200... in about the same price range?

Jun 30, 2011difference between DVD 4:3 and DVD 16:9. How should I be saving my file if it is to be shown on 18" tv screens ? Or does how I save it depend on something to do with the photographs I have in the slideshow? Will saving it as 4:3 reduce the overall file size ? Or is there another way to reduce the file size so I can fit more onto a DVD? At the moment I can only fit just over an hour onto a 4.7gb DVD. video editing dummy that I am.

Nov 17, 2013I have downloaded LR5 Upgrade onto my PC (Windows 7). The LR5 new features work. So far the program is working as expected, except that when an image is deleted using LR5, the image disappears from LR5 and appears in the recycle bin as it should, but it does not disappear from my Canon DPP program. LR3 is still on the computer and when an image was deleted using LR3, it always disappeared from both LR3 and Canon DPP. Why won't a deletion with LR5 take the image out of Canon DPP ?

Feb 11, 2014When I delete old copies of LR5's catalog off of my backup external drive, I leave the 3 most current. For some reason the next time I start LR, it cannot find the catalog, and I have to manually point to the backup, since I know that one is current. I'd assume the one in My Pictures is current also, but for some reason I keep getting this error.

Jun 3, 2013I have downloaded & installed the LR 4.4 trial; I've used Photoshop Elements for many years, and am trying Lightroom for the improved capabilities it's supposed to have compared to PSE. According to the website, the downloaded trial is FULLY functional, just like the purchased version.
I take 100s of photos during a typical outing, and I want to use LR to screen/sort/process the photos. If I take 100 photos, I'll probably only keep 10-15 of them in the end. Therefore I need to be able to DELETE the photos with LR. I mean REALLY delete them, from the LR catalog/collections and from my computer hard drive as well. Is this possible? If it is, how is it done easily within LR?
When I press Delete, the photo disappears from the screen I'm in, but it appears the photo was just "removed from the collection"; unfortunately, the photo is still in the directory/folder on my computer hard drive, and it's probably still somewhere within LR as well. I want it deleted. No dialog box opens, which I've heard about in some of the forum posts, so I can't thereby instruct LR to delete from the hard drive as well. How can I do this?
It would be nice if there were a setting or preference somewhere within LR, where I could make the delete key mean DELETE. Does this not exist?

Photoshop Elements :: Change Preset Crop Ratios From Portrait To Landscape?
Mar 10, 2013I have a 5" x 7" (landscape style) image that I want to crop in Elements 9. I'm using the Guided mode on the Edit tab of the program. When I use the pulldown menu and I see the 5 x 7 crop box size that I want to use, I click it. But the crop window that appears, is 7 x 5 (portrait mode) rather than 5 x 7 landscape mode. I can work around this by changing my crop box size selection on the pulldown menu to No Restriction, but I'm then just guessing that I'll get precisely the 5 x 7 ratio that I want. How can I change the crop box from portrait style to landscape style so that I can crop my image 5 x 7 rather than 7 x 5?

Mar 6, 2012I use Aperture 3 and am thinking of switching to Lightroom 4. I do not store my photos in the Aperture 3 library. Instead I store my photos in my own folder system on an external hard drive and I reference the files in Aperture. This works well for most functions, but when I delete a photo from Aperture, it simply removes the thumbnail and all versions from Aperture, but does not delete the actual photo file on my hard drive. If I want to delete the actual photo file I must click "show file in finder" and manually delete it from the finder window.
Is the process of organizing photos in your own folder system, and deleting unwanted photos, more seemlessly integrated in Lightroom 4?
Lightroom :: Deleting (mac) Default Presets?
Feb 4, 2013I'm buying a lot of presets from designers and also create a lot by my own. So not to loose the overview I want to delete those which I don't need. For example all the default ones (Lightroom Effect Presets, Lightroom Video Presets...). I tried to delete the template folder in finder, but then it shows an error at the next startup. If I just delete the subfolders, then the folders within Lightroom still appear on the panel, just the presets within are gone.

Jan 22, 2014I am importing about 20,000 pictures from Flickr. they are all creative commons, and the end result will be the use of approximately 4000 of these in an online sign language dictionary. I use Bulkr to import them and this process imports the tags as well as other information such as the photographers name and url. Many of these photos arrive with hundreds of tags, so that the total number of tags might be 20000 or more. I need to assign my own tags and delete all the tags that the photo arrived with. I use the lightroom batch delete to do this (the little minus sign at the top of the keyword list). i select a keyword, hold down the shift key and scroll down. the problem is that i cannot just scroll down to the bottom of the list. There appear to be unpredictable keywords that cause the shift-select process not to work. if i scroll back up and then carefully scroll part of the way back down, then there will be a point at which shift-select stops working and above that it works. The end result of this is that it takes numerous shift-select-scroll down-select to delete everything so that what should take maybe 2 minutes takes 20 minutes or more.
The problem may be related to foreign language keywords especially chinese characters, but even what looks like a perfectly ordinary keyword can stop it. Two recent examples: travelers cheque and Київ. In all cases, the words can be deleted when i click directly on them. you just cant shift-select THROUGH them.A separate annoyance that i will just grumble about is that i was forced to put these pictures in a separate catalog because there is always the risk that i could manage to delete my own keywords while batch-deleting everyone elses, and there is no simple way that i know of to undo this. with the separate catalog at least i wont delete all the keywords for my own pictures.

May 28, 2012when I hit CMD and backspace, in order to delete images from disk, I only have the option to 'remove' photos. Up until tonight I always had to choose whether to remove them or delete from disk. Not sure what has changed or what I have done wrong, it's always worked before. I'm using an imac and LR4.
