View 2 RepliesWhen I delete old copies of LR5's catalog off of my backup external drive, I leave the 3 most current. For some reason the next time I start LR, it cannot find the catalog, and I have to manually point to the backup, since I know that one is current. I'd assume the one in My Pictures is current also, but for some reason I keep getting this error.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just moved my years worth of images off my laptop by exporting the catalogue throught Lightroom and everything that goes with it to a exteranl drive. Now I would like to delete the catalogue and all files associated with it. Do I need to do that through Lightroom or can I just delete the year 2012 in the pictures folder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a user in my group that is hesitant to upgrade to 2012 because , he has many lisp routines that are associated with the PREVIOUS selection feature. This selection is very useful in that when you are moving or selecting many objects you can enter P for previous and the object will be selected.
In 2009, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command requesting to use the Previous, AutoCAD will remember the last selected object and then highlight it.
In 2012, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command using P for previous, it will not highlight the previous object selected but will highlight the previous object where a command was executed on.
Hope I haven't lost you. It seems there should be a setting under SELECTION of how to manipulate the Previous selection feature.
I'm using LR 5 Develop Module and I make a few adjustmnets and then click on the next photo and then click the "Previous" button but nothing happens. It did work the frist time I tried it and then occasionally it works, but most of the time it does nothing. Very frustrating as this is supposed to be a time-saver.the last photo I clicked on has chnages applied...then I click on next photo and click "previous."
I unistalled and reinstalled LR5 too....no change
Just upgraded to 3.6 and using Windows Vista 64bit. When I go to open a recent catalog I keep getting prompted to back-up the catalog eventhough the selected time between back-ups has not elapsed. It just always prompts me to create a backup whenever I exit the catalog or LR. When viewing catalog A and swithing to catalog B and exiting, when I start LR again it opens with catalog A instead of B. I re-checked the settings and LR is set to open to the previous catalog but it is not doing so.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently tries to open a new catalogue and now I can't get back to my recent catalogue with all its folders. If I try to open a prior catalogue it's always the wrong one. I did this yesterday and I want everything back to the catalogue from the day before. I am frustrated. I don't want to reimport all my photos.
I realise this sounds crazy. On the file menu when I open a prior catalogue it is never the right one!!
I shoot with multiple cameras with a parallel tracklog being generated on a Garmin GPS unit and think this functionality might be useful but it never seems to be enabled. How and when is it enabled? It would be nice to have an easy way to cycle through track logs that I've imported without having to choose them through most recent or the filesystem.

I am able to open the file in the upgraded version but it states that it will open as a student version. Also I cannot copy and paste anything from the student version to the upgraded one. Not sure why.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently learned using presets in LR. I currently use LR5.2.
I recently installed a few third-party presets to LR.
I am very happy with the performance of these presets.
Here is a problem: I have many LR catalogs.
Is there a way to install all presets to catalog whenever I create new one (just like a default preset) and also to old catalogs?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHave LR5.3 on a Windows 7 machine. Have SSD for programs and usual HD for pictures. Want to have LR catalogues on my SSD rather than default Pictures folder (on the HD). How do I move them to SSD and have LR find them and use that as a default hereafter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several versions of my catalog due to "updates / upgrades" of the catalog. I believe this happened as I added plugins and it would tell me I needed to update my catalog. Is it safe to delete the old ones? Will I lose any data? These haven't been accessed for quite some time. See screen shot.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently converted to Mac from pc, and upgraded from LR 3.6 to LR 4 at the same time.Apple transferred all of my pc files transferred to the Mac, and then I downloaded the LR upgrade. That may have been a mistake, as all of the 3.6 catalogs remained on the PC. How do I get the 3.6 PC catalogs into the new version on the Mac? I'm thinking that perhaps I should uninstall LR, have Apple repeat the data migration, and then reinstall the LR 4? Or, is there another way?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had imported photos as CR2's worked on them in develop screen. Closed Lightroom5. When I reopened it all catalog references are gone- from this session and previous sessions. So I pulled in the photos from folders but none of the metadata changes were there (I now know it's because they were imported as CR2's-- won't do THAT again!) Is there anyway to get changes back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedPictures do not show up in catalogs. Older pictures are there but newer imports appear as grey boxes. I can click in them in develop mode and work on them so they are in the program. After working on them they appear in the catalogs until I develop other pics at which point they switch to the grey box again

I need to start fresh with Lightroom but when I reinstall the software it auto loads the catalogs. I have about 7000 photos and its a big job but I have to do it. Can I reload Lightroom and not the catalogs?
Also, If I delete all metadata and previews associated with my pictures will this also delete all editing of my photos or will that just get rid of the Catalogs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Lightroom 4 develop mode, I have noticed that at the bottom of the righthand column there is a button, sometimes marked "sync" and at others marked "previous". It seems to change randomly between the two and I don't know why. I prefer it to be "previous". Why it changes and what I can do to return it to "previous" if it has changed to "sync"?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen Exporting images in LM4 (4.0), the previous list of export folders is grayed out and none can be selected. You have to choose the destination folder via the Choose button. On the next Export the previously selected folder appears in the list but, again, cannot be selected. The Clear List is also grayed out so you cannot clear the list down. This function worked fine in LM3. Is this a known reported fault?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just managed to crash LR (4.1) big time, resulting in a BSOD and immediate Windows shutdown. What triggered this: both LR and my PC are usually very reliable, and in fact my PC has never before blue screened on me. At the time, LR was building a collection.
I re-booted and checked over my catalogue in LR, focusing on the images I'd been working on prior to the crash (all in the same folder on my HD). I see no obvious corruption with the images I was working on; in fact LR even managed to complete the collection. I allowed it to check the catalogue integrity and it found no issues. However I now have a nagging doubt that perhaps I'm overlooking something... Do you think it might be worth my while to restore from a previous backup, just to be sure no corruption has managed to rear its head in my catalogue, or do you think that, based on the lack of any warning signs, I should be OK?
This raises another related question: how do you know that a catalogue is corrupted at all? Does LR give you any warning/error message?
In the catalog view, is it possible to switch back to a previous folder you were just viewing without having to locate it and click on it? For example, is there something like a back button to return to previous screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery-time I synchronizing a folder, Lightroom always shows Previous Import for the found images.I think this is very annoying, since I manually have to point to the synchronized folder. When I synchronize a specific folder I expect Lightroom to stay on that specific synchronized folder! There should at least be an option for this in the preferences but I haven't found anything...
I'm currently following a longer Lightroom 5 course on Lynda and this don't occur on the authors mac when synchronizing occurs! Is this a windows-only issue or should I dig deeper into my manual?
