Lightroom :: Enter Custom Aspect Ratios In Cropping Function - Results Are Not Right?
Mar 17, 2014
In Lightroom 5.3 suddenly, when I enter custom aspect ratios in the cropping function the results are not right. The values I enter should make it shorter, but the results are making it narrower. This has been working correctly until just the last hour or so. Have I inadvertenly changed a setting of some kind?
How can i export a series of images in different aspect ratios to the same height?
I wish to make a slider callery for my website. all the images need to be 750 Pixels high, the width does not matter. I have a mixture of square pandscap and protraite images can i do thing as one export or do i have to do it twice? Once for long edge and once for shot edge?
I want to crop a picture to fit my new 24" 16:10 monitor. The res is 1920x1200. I don't want the picture to be stretched in any way, but I'll accept decreasing the resolution to fit my 1920x1200. So my question is, can I force the crop selection to turn 16:10?
difference between DVD 4:3 and DVD 16:9. How should I be saving my file if it is to be shown on 18" tv screens ? Or does how I save it depend on something to do with the photographs I have in the slideshow? Will saving it as 4:3 reduce the overall file size ? Or is there another way to reduce the file size so I can fit more onto a DVD? At the moment I can only fit just over an hour onto a 4.7gb DVD. video editing dummy that I am.
It seems that with the 4.4 update a bug was introduced with the crop aspect ratio not staying locked when cropping. It changes to "custom" even though the lock remains. What do I do to maintain a standard photo size and not switch to custom? For printing purposes, I need the ratio to stay locked and dimensions standard.
Is it possible that I LOST my aspect ratio option in tool options when cropping a photo for the website??? It is gone and I am sure it was there before. Using photo ratio, customer or other is no good for what I am doing. .
Is it possible to enter a custom number of frames in a solar study so the length of the overall animation can be lengthened and the quality of the animation improved?
I have used X4 for about two years and X6 for the past couple of months. I cannot figure out how the create more rendering options under Share -> Create Video File. For example, if I want to use the MPEG codec but a custom resolution. Often custom is greyed out and not selectable. In free software such as ffmpeg or Virtual Dub I can create video as any resolution, aspect ratio, or codec. VS options seem to be very limited to these prepackaged choices. For example, some people have described moving a .DLL to the Coral folder to get custom codecs under the Create Video -> custom option. I'd rather not have to always render in VS and then recodec in another software.
My biggest challenge is the new Instagram format. It is basically 640x640 webm format. But I can import MPEG h264 without issue. My goal is to setup a 1:1 640x640 profile so I don't always have to game and stretch titles to display properly in the final version.
I've got a custom VBA function that works perfectly when called from a parameter in my part.
However, when in the context of my assembly, there is no error, but the function no longer runs, and the parameter text is red.
Apparently, the function is no longer in context?
I've heard of external rules, but have never implemented one.
Is there a way to declare my function and keep it in context regardless?
Public Function BumpHeight(dblHeight As Double, dblMember As Double) As Double Dim X As Integer X = 2 If dblHeight > dblMember * 2 Then BumpHeight = dblHeight Else BumpHeight = dblMember * X End If BumpHeight = BumpHeight / 2.54 End Function Here is the Parameter:
VBA:BumpHeight(ValanceBackBumpoutHeight;ValanceMemberSize) * 1 in
Update: (problem better defined)
What seems to be happening is that once I insert the part into an assembly, it creates a new blank copy of the parts' modules in VBA and the functions no longer work.
If I go to the VBA editor,
There are now two copies of my part listed in the browser tree, but the new one is blank.
If I paste in my function to the new one, it will work until I return to the parent assembly.
Next time I come back to the part, it will have a new blank set of modules.
This appears to continue indefinitely...
see the attached screenshot.
At this point there are only 2 copies of the DocumentProject. The original still contains my functions, but the new one is blank.
I need these functions to work in order to build my model.
I am using a trial download of PSE11, and find that some of the functions [that I have been using for many years on several iterations of PSE] are greyed out and not usuable. Is that becuase I haveatrial edition? I want ot use custom rotate to straghten a photo, and "straighten image" is not enough. Why can't I access "custom rotate"?
How can I enter keywords in such a way that they don't initiate LR commands? (that subsequently make LR do all kinds of unwanted and unexpected things?
Usually it works. Now for reasons unknown to me, typing in the keyword box doesn't enter keywords, it enters commands.
And the white entry box under the keyword box is now active. I don't want that. I want to enter the keywords directly in the grey box, like I was doing before.
And now, I am also being prevented from removing unwanted keywords. Before, I could just delete them or backspace them out in the gray box.
I have searched my entire library for a particular keyword. The results are onscreen now and number several hundred shots. I now want to show just the jpg versions and ignore the cr2. Can I filter the results somehow?
In the Crop tool dailogue box, in general terms, what is the difference between ORIGINAL and AS SHOT aspect ratio. My understanding is, "ORIGINAL" is the imported image aspect ratio from a camera without any cropping being performed in LR. AS SHOT to me, means the same thing i.e. the image is "AS SHOT" from the camera.
I have a couple of pictures I want to print on A5. I remember from a previous time that I need to do an aspect ratio crop in LightRoom. But now, for the life of me I cannot remember the ratio. I looks something like 8 x 5 but I am not sure.
In the develop module in LR4, I have been trying to change the aspect ratio of an image before cropping to 7x5, but the crop tool keeps on reverting back to 5x7. Obviously, I want to crop it to the same paper size but the orientation is just as important.
Using 3.2 lightroom, when I zoom in on a tif image it is fuzzy. If I click on the next image over, then click back it reloads and is sharp. Is there a way to force a reload without clicking to another image and then back. When doing same on a raw file (NEF in my case) I do not have this problem.
When using the Publish function, LR sometimes publishes a number of photos with no problem, sometimes only the first one, sometimes it publishes but says the operation failed, and sometimes it behaves like mission accomplished when nothing published at all!
I'm using LR5 and I'm wondering if it's possible (maybe with plugins if necessary) to set a maximum aspect ratio when experting photos. For example I have a picture that I cropped to be a panorama, with an aspect ratio of 26:11. The print shop can print at a maximum aspect ratio of 19:11. So my 26:11 image is too small and I need to add some bars at the top and bottom of my photo to reach an aspect ratio of 19:11 (see also the sketch below). Later, when I get the finished prints, I have to cut the bars at the top and bottom with a pair of scissors for example. Is it possible to let LR automatically add these borders for a given maximum apsect ratio?
I have a problem with LR4 and smart collections which are not showing real results. As an example see the following picture:
The collection is showing 13 results, but on the right LR4 reports that there are no photos in selected smart collection. Similar results I have for several other smart collections, which are either showing some files which are not related to the collection, or they are not showing at all the expected result (which can be found via filter). I was thinking about a possible issue - the results are maybe calculated and require some long time to process, but if I will leave this over the night, then there is no difference (the smart collection above has 2 rules, the amount of photos in catalog are 19k).
After the OS X 10.8.5 update on my current generation 27' iMac moving 1:1 images results in very low resolution for those areas I am moving to with as long as a two second delay before the image snaps back into full resolution. Not only that but when it snaps back into full resolution you see a shift in alignment and a snapping into place with the nearby area that was already in full resolution. This is awful and is occuring with Lightroom 5 and 5.2.
My iMacs specs are the current generation 27" iMac, i7 3.4 Ghz, 32GB RAM, and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB running OS X 10.8.5.
