I am having problems with LR5.2RC rendering a substantial number of my .dng files in monochrome. There appears to be no logic to this, and files appear in colour in Finder. I am using an iMac with Mountain Lion.

LR Rendered my D3 and D3s Raw files very closely to the Nikon software and the camera jpgs, but since I have started using a D4, I am noticing a dissapointing difference between the LCD rendering, the jpgs. and the LR raw rendering of my files. I think I last saw this in LR2, with early D3 files, but it's been a while.
So if I shoot a NEF file and a JPG file at the same time, the JPG files look really good, the same sweet goodness I saw on the LCD. Now I have been doing this a while, and I know about camera profiles, custom camera profiles, and that Raw files need a little massaging, but I don't want to break out the nikon software to get the best results from my raw files, and that's what I have been doing lately on my final picks.
I am attaching a sample. Left - Right, in camera jpg, jpg from view nx2, LR jpg from untouched nef (camera standard profile). You will notice the skin tones and the dynamic range are best on the left, in camera jpg.
I just got a Sigma dp1x. LR renders all my x3f raw files black. A normal preview will show up, but when I attempt to edit the photo, the picture goes completely black. I am running LR4.1 and ACR 7.1 win 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mic I'm using to record is a mono (single channel) and I find that no matter what I do in VSPX5, the audio to my video stays in mono. I've tried saving an audio file of the clip as mono or stereo. I've tried saving the video using different compressions as well. Still, the audio only comes out of one speaker.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI print to a Canon Colour Image Runner printer. The default colour setting is set to mono.
I've noticed when I open a colour image in Coreldraw, navigate to Print Setup, change the job settings to Colour, then print, it still comes out mono, or sometimes come out as a random combination of both mono and colour.
I've found this to be caused the setting called 'Output colour bitmaps as'. This appears to set itself to match the default printer settings on the host pc. Ie my printer is set to Mono by default, hence the above setting sets itself to Grayscale to match. If i choose to print my Coreldraw document in colour, the above mentioned setting remains set to Grayscale, hence the printed output is for bitmaps is grayscale, not colour as i selected.
Likewise if i change my printer defaults to colour, the 'Output colour bitmaps as' setting changes itself to RGB, and then there is no problem.
I assume this is a bug, as if one of my users chooses to print a document in colour, then it should come out in colour. It shouldn't be necessary to change *another* setting to achieve this.
way of adding colour to a black and white picture? I have the original in colour, but I want to change it to black and white and then put a bit of the original colour back into a couple of places...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have seen a number people new to smoke get confused when trying to edit mono audio source to a stereo track only to find the audio doesn't doesn't appear.
How about a preference that automatically splits the mono audio so that it edits to the stereo track?
If it was on by default it would definitely be of less confusion to new users
Or perhaps a dialogue box explaining why the edit did not work due to the differing audio properties.

My video material holds two voices that were recorded on CH1 and CH2 in mono, resulting in a stereo clip that has one voice on the left channel and one voice on the right channel. So far I always duplicated the audio clips and use fill right and fill left. I just found out about channel mappings in CS2 and CS3, but for my actual project it is too late since it is cut already. It is my first project I'm doing in CS2 and after it is finished I will install CS3. So my first question is: When I use the channel mapping command, how are the resulting mono channels handled in the master? Will each mono channel fill the right AND the left channel of the stereo master track?
With delight I found out that the channel mixer in CS2 allows to use fill right and fill left effects, so I don't have to drag the effects on each clip separatley.
My second question is regarding the mixing of the two voices. Since we couldn't afford to have a professional sound engenieer at the shoot the channel of the voice that was not talking wasn't turned down, so the second voice will be heard on the other channel when the two people stood close together. Is there a more efficient way to mix the two voices instead of using rubber bands to bring down one voice when it is not talking? It's a hell lot of work.
I am using VS X4 on windows 7. I have an .AVI file which I captured from a VHS tape so it includes sound. The video is 105 minutes long and the file size is 21.9 GB which is huge. I brought it into a project, edited as necessary including making adjustments to the sound in the AVI file, added titles, transitions, and an additional sound track. When I render this project to make a video file it takes a very long time and the resulting .wmv file is huge (11.2GB). I hate to think what it would be to make a DVD. Is there some thing I should do differently to avoid the rendering time and the size of the files?

I have been doing video editing for a local kids Theatre company (freebie) and I am not a professional.
They have changed their video camera and they have provided me MTS video format.
Playing the MTS file in windows media player, the video is crystal clear.
It looks ok in VideoStudio but after it is rendered to a DVD its quality has dramatically dropped .... pixilation being the main issue.
I have tried using various trial converters and converting it to an AVI or MPeg2 format first and then editing it but I am still getting very poor quality output.
The final compression is very small (if any) ....
I had about 40 mins of video, so the mpeg2 file should not have to be compressed, but the final dvd was far worse than the actual video file.
How can I get the best results from using an MTS file format ??????
I mostly use Max for 3-D walkthroughs of architecture models I design in Revit, and in all of my renderings I have computer monitors and televisions. For effect I would like to make the monitors appear as though they are in use during the walk through, nothing fancy, just a standard home-screen would do.
Is it possible to insert .jpg or png screen-shot files in place on the monitor screens to make these objects look active, and how would I accomplish this task?
I want to render a scene. In Render Setup/Render Output/Save Files, the Save File box is ghosted, so I can't save the files. What's causing this? I tried rebooting Max, but that didn't work either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Photoshop is corrupting files in a very destructive fashion, and it seems to be tied to the live rendering of gradients. Not just blur filters, as in this thread [URL] but opacity adjustments in layers, and hue/brightness shifts. This happens usually in files with large dimensions, but not necessarily complicated layer structures.
This type of corruption, which renders blocks, tesselated shapes, or inverts/fills odd layers, seems to be a problem for multiple users, but I haven't seen a solution.
I think I may be the first person to link it directly to the live rendering of gradients- rather than just the blur filters. Anything that has to render a gradated shift across the image seems to be the culprit. Usualy starting as a solid, and ending as a transparent. However, simply adjust hue/brightness over an opaque layer will make the corruption happen as well. Which leads me to believe that this corruption is caused by live on screen rendering of gradient shifts.

3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
12 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
I am getting very poor rendering quality for HD files. If the clip is “untouched” by VS it will render fine. However any changes to the clip either by adding transition, modifying brightness, color, adding title overlay etc. causes significant lost of quality and creates very flickery output with jerky movements.

Here are the steps to do the test:
1.Download files from provided links:

b)Project file : [URL]
c)Project screen shot: [URL]
2.Create folder in your C dirve called “Test” and place downloaded files in it.
3.Open provided project file in VS X4. This should have the original clip placed on the time line twice. The first one is not modified clip and the second one has modified brightness just to force the rendering)
4.Render it to the file using MPG Optimizer. (i.e. Share -> File -> MPG Optimizer -> Accept -> Save) This should produce AVCHD 1920 x1080 60i file. See the project screen shot “Test.jpg” as a reference.
5.Play both source and rendered files in Windows Media player or TV and compare the smoothness of movements. R

I need to not only realistically render static views but also add fly-by and walk throughs. Additionally in the near future I want to be able to add (for example) moving vehicles to static views and fly-bys (sp). It seems that most indications are pointing towards 3DS Max Design 2012. Would this be a correct observation? Aslo, does 3Ds Max Design readily accept native C3D files?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just want to warn that the SP2 patch of VS Pro X3 is incompatible with rendering and playback of mpeg-2 files. Your mpeg-2 files will finish rendering with SP2, but the rendered file will have audio distortions. Corel has a patch to repair it (only send to someone who calls Corel & complain about mpeg-2 render problems), but the patch causes a hiccup in the preview playback of the mpeg-2 clip just after the rendering is finished. The result only plays smooth after pause and starting of the playback from beginning again.

Now all of a sudden when I render .mov files, the playback is frayed and jumpy... audio doesn't match, etc. I've tried rendering lower then upper fields and vise versa, and both at once. nothing works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday when I was importing my pictures from the CF card the energy was off for a couple om minutes (a failure in the electrical net in the town) and the computer crashes (or something like that). When electricity came back I restarted LR and tried to import the images once again. Result: images are in the hard disk, they were imported correctly but no preview was rendered at all!. In the preview lrdata folder I can see two files root-pixels and root-pixels.db-journal that are there since yesterday (I do not know what they mean)...if I try to render previews from the Libray menu....nothing happens....seems that LR does not like to render previews from my most recent import..
I do not know what to do with the next import...so my new images are still in the corresponding CF card...
Or can I? "Link" is greyed out

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was very happy with the color profiles available in the LR3 version, to use with Nikon raw files (from a D700 camera). I managed to have almost the same color and contrast impression as the ones delivered by Nikon RAW software (Capture NX), using camera standard color profile. And the workflow is thus much easier woth LR3.But lately I discovered some problem for average grey value as seen on the comparaison of the same image processed by the 2 software below :
extract at 100% scale of the image processed by LR (using camera standard profile).The same image processed with Capture NX :You can see that the grey are purple, and event almost green in some areas. I had already noticed few years ago a some problem with LR2, but I thought the problem was gone with LR3. Now it is back with LR3.5 --? This color problem does not happen when using ACR 4.6 rendering in LR, but the global color impression is different. I must had that except from this, the global color rendering is very close to NX.
I am running Windows 7. I have been using Lightroom 4 for several days with no problem. Today it stopped rendering previews. When importing for a card or adding from a drive the files get added but then the program says "Rendering Standard Previews" but they never render. You can see the images in Develop but the previews do not stay.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the program. That didn't work.
I went back and tried Lightroom 3 with the same setup and it worked fine. I tried this in case it was a drive problem.
Lightroom 4 is constantly put down as being very poor at rendering Fujifilm X Trans RAW files. Fujifilm claims to have assisted Adobe with this new sensor design yet LR falls down hard. Why is that? Will it get better or are we stuck with what LR can do now?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI moved from Windows to Mac. Today I imported a set of photos from my camera to my disk. After rendering all of my photos became B&W (LR4 changed color treatment of my RAW files). It surprised me a lot. I did it again and again. All my photos are B&W. I have to change color treatment in all of them. I would prefer my old importing scheme (photos are color after rendering). I did not use any preset and all oprions were as usual (only changed a name of photos).
I noticed that LR4 changed a few other options: decreased highlights by 100, increased shadow by 100, increased clarity by 50, changed tone curve to strong contrast, increase sharpening to 100, noise reduction to 40, and so on. Increadible! How can I came back to my way of importing?
OK i have been running LR4 fine and upgraded when needed. I'm currently on 4.4 and all has been well until now. When viewing images they don't look sharp! Before when clicking on a thumbnail the image would pop up all fuzzy then get sharp real quick....always has done. This also happens when zooming in to the image, it just looks fuzzy, it does not click into a sharp image to work on, the images come up but don't get sharp. Also there is not always a thumbnail in the top left above the presets. Also if you add a preset the image just disappears!! Sometimes there is just no image at all. I have deleted all references that I can find to LR on my PL including the catalogs and have re loaded LR inc the upgrade plus created a new catalog but the problem still persists.!
View 5 Replies View RelatedLR works with the color space ProPhotoRGB. With highly saturated colors this colorspace is larger than AdobeRGB and sRGB. As I see it now is that while exporting to these color spaces, Lightroom uses the method as in Photoshop called Convert to Profile, which maintains the color appearance, but shifts the color numbers. High saturated colors will be clipped. Is this assumption correct? Is it possible to use in Lightroom the method Assign Profile, where the color numbers (and detail) are maintained?
