Photoshop :: Photo Enlargement Resolution
Apr 30, 2006What resolution do I use to enlarge a 3”x4” photo into one that is one that is 3 ‘x4’? I am using S-Spline (PhotoZoom) which is similar to Genuine Fractal to enlarge pictures. I am also using Photoshop 6. Obviously, a photo enlarged to 3’x4’ at 300 dpi would probably crashed my computer. Is there a mathematically way to determine resolution when enlarging photos?

Dec 21, 2012I have had this happen to a few of my pictures recently:
 I had already edited this picture and 30 minutes later suddenly this happened (the above is a re-import of the CR2 file). Photos that have had this happen have come from different cameras and different CF cards. I'm using LR4.3 on Win7.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X4 :: Imported PNG Graphic Disappears When Imported Into Another PNG Graphic
May 26, 2011I create a graphic in Corel Draw X4 and export it as a .png file. It is a button with rounded corners. It will be going on a black background when put into an iphone app. So as to not have the little white corners show up from the rectangular export window, I made the button on top of a black rectangle, slightly larger than the button. I then selected the black to be transparant during the dialogs of exporting to png. When viewed in an image viewer the black is indeed transparent and does not show up. All looks fine.Â
To test what it will look like when put on top of a black background, I also make a black square and export it as a .png. I then open the black background in Corel Photopaint and then import the graphic into the background image. A siloutte of it shows up with the marque borders but the graphic itself (the colors and contents of the graphic don't). When combined with the black background it just disappears. Why doesn't it just lay on top of the other graphic?

I'm trying to convert it to 23x30 at 300dpi.
What's the best method to maintain decent quality?
What i'm doing thus far is: Convert the original to 1000dpi (excessive but hey, why not?) then flattening, then enlarging to 23x30 and lastly converting to 300dpi.

Dec 4, 2011I have been trying to find a plugin for PSP that will enhance image blow ups. I've just moved over to X4 .
The best one seems to be Alien Skin Blow Up 3 but I can't find out if it is compatible. I did install a copy on X2 recently but it never worked properly, crashing at the end of the render stage. Is that because the plugin is not compatible?
The fact that it installed and worked up to the render output suggests that it is compatible but, maybe not!
CorelDRAW X6 :: Disable Rectified Text Enlargement
Mar 24, 2013I use corel draw to design a poster for a scientific conference.
The content of my poster consists of many diagrams and example traces. To make them fit together I need to drag the content in X or Y. While that I distort the text (change the Y or X scaling). So in the end I need to rearrange hundreds of little text boxes by converting them to ‘paragraph text’ and back to ‘graphic text’ (to erase the scaling information).
How can I quickly straighten the text in the whole document? Or even better avoid the text from being distorted.
Using ‘paragraph text’ doesn’t work because the text boxes are scaled to. So if they are too small the text disappears completely. I can’t see the point, why text is deformable in the first place.Every were I read, the professionals says it is not recommended to deform the text. I think so too!

Mar 22, 2013I am working on a profile of a ditch and I want to create an enlargement of a portion of the profile. What I would like to do is shrink the vertical scale of the portion of the profile I want to focus on, creating what looks like a stretched view of the profile.
This can be accomplished by creating a block and shrinking the Scale X, but is there any way to do this feature with a viewport? (Creating a block of the profile isn't the solution, especially if I need to edit it later.)
If not with a viewport, is there any other way I can do this?

Feb 3, 2013I am using Lr 4.3 and want to import vacation photos. Lr says they have already been imported but I can't find them even if I search by photo name using Explorer. Should I just uncheck the box not to import suggested duplicates and import again? I have over 4,000 and don't want them on the hard drive twice.

When I tried synchronizing the folder after adding the file, LR does not even see this new file.

Lightroom :: How To Rename Photos Already Imported
Jan 13, 2013I imported photos from a shoot, and after getting them into lightroom I realized the year was off in the camera. My import preset uses the year as the first part of the file naming convention. So now I want to rename the files by correcting the year in each one. Is there an easy way to do this? I suspect that unless I go through lightroom somehow, the catalog won't know where they are if I change them.

This is an absolute disaster because it's not just taken a copy, it seems to have transferred them or sucked them into Lr.
