I need to send a picture to get enlarged to a 20x24. Do I have to crop image or can I just send. If I have to set crop size what are the deminsions in photoshop. I want the entire image. I did not shoot image with a full frame camare.
View 1 RepliesI want to use the crop tool to edit my image - I want the crop tool to maintain the image dimensions (i.e. 4x6), BUT I don't want the image to be resampled. All I see with the crop tool is that if I want the size to be constrained, it makes me pick a specific size, not an aspect ratio.
For example, if I say 4 inches by 6 inches and crop a very small section of my image, it will crop it, but then resample it and blow it up to a 4 inch by 6 inch photo. I really just want the ratio to be maintained. 4x6.
I have a little problem with the cropping tool in the new CS6 version.
In CS5 I had the oppotunity to choose "Front image" and the crop tool would copy the dimensions from the chosen image.
Now I made a mistake and cropped a picture with the wrong dimensions. Ususally I choose "original ratio", but this time I forgot. Then normally in CS5 I just choose one of the other pictures in my workspace (with the original dimensions) and hit the "front image" button, and then I got back the the picture I cropped in the wrong dimenions, and now I could easily crop it with the right dimensions.
I found another discussion in the forum that answered exactly this question, and it said "Try pressing 'R' in crop mode. It will open Crop Image Size & Resolution window, where you can choose Source: Custom, Front Image, etc."
But when I press "R" in the crop mode nothing like that comes up. Instead the opportunity to rotate comes up... :-( Not what I was looking for.
What to do? I work on a PC.
I need to be able to see the pixel dimensions while I'm cropping. I clicked on the "Info" pallet and it shows this in inches, however, I didn't see how to change it to pixels. For some website work I need to set images to specific pixel sizes and yet be able to move around the image to crop where I need at these dimensions.

But they all consist of images of the same frame size, with borders around the image (scanned film outside the image.) All of the scans were done at 4000 pixels per inch, at 100 percent.

For example, the pixels dimensions of one scan is 10492 x 6907, another is 10390 x 6968, and another is 10483 x 6976.

I want to crop all of them to 10200 x 6738 pixels. I want to delete the cropped pixels, and I do not want any scaling to take place. I want to preserve the original metadata (the scanner model, pixels per inch, etc.); in other words, I want to modify the files (or copies of the files), not create new files. The print size does not matter.I've tried several approaches, and none of them let me do what I want:

1.) Manually cropping each scan individually does not give me the control that I need for cropping to precise pixel dimensions.

2.) Creating a Crop Preset with the desired pixel dimensions doesn't work because using it results in scaling (I think.)

3.) Using Canvas Size doesn't work because the borders in the scans are not equal on all four sides. I need to be able to move and position the image inside the crop area.

4.) Using New, and Place… allows me to create a Canvas Size with the desired pixel dimensions and resolution, and move the placed images; they will fit without scaling. However, this results in a new file being created, and therefore the metadata is lost.
Is there a way to crop to a specific dimension? I have a 3888x2592 image and would like to crop it to 2400x1600. Problem I am having is I can get it to 2388x1589 or 2420x1619 or finally after many tries (over a minute of attempting) got it to 2399x1599. Is there any way to FORCE it to a specific dimension?

Also, on export I know you can resize an image, but are you able to apply a resize within lightroom itself?Â
I have an image which I shot from too far away. As a result, it has very few pixels (less than one million, unfortunately). I'd really like to print it at 8x10, but I'm afraid that might not be doable. I'd be getting about 100dpi, and I'm pretty sure that's not very good.

What i'm doing thus far is: Convert the original to 1000dpi (excessive but hey, why not?) then flattening, then enlarging to 23x30 and lastly converting to 300dpi.
When I crop a picture Pixel Demensions become 6 bytes Width and Height 1 pixel each. I can no longer see the picture. How can I fix this?

I am using S-Spline (PhotoZoom) which is similar to Genuine Fractal to enlarge pictures. I am also using Photoshop 6. The best one seems to be Alien Skin Blow Up 3 but I can't find out if it is compatible. I did install a copy on X2 recently but it never worked properly, crashing at the end of the render stage. Is that because the plugin is not compatible?
The fact that it installed and worked up to the render output suggests that it is compatible but, maybe not!
I use corel draw to design a poster for a scientific conference.
The content of my poster consists of many diagrams and example traces. To make them fit together I need to drag the content in X or Y. While that I distort the text (change the Y or X scaling). So in the end I need to rearrange hundreds of little text boxes by converting them to ‘paragraph text’ and back to ‘graphic text’ (to erase the scaling information).
How can I quickly straighten the text in the whole document? Or even better avoid the text from being distorted.
Using ‘paragraph text’ doesn’t work because the text boxes are scaled to. So if they are too small the text disappears completely. I can’t see the point, why text is deformable in the first place.Every were I read, the professionals says it is not recommended to deform the text. I think so too!

I am working on a profile of a ditch and I want to create an enlargement of a portion of the profile. What I would like to do is shrink the vertical scale of the portion of the profile I want to focus on, creating what looks like a stretched view of the profile.
This can be accomplished by creating a block and shrinking the Scale X, but is there any way to do this feature with a viewport? (Creating a block of the profile isn't the solution, especially if I need to edit it later.)
If not with a viewport, is there any other way I can do this?
I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)

How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? Also be sure to pick the 'aligned dimension' method and not the 'linear dimension'. I hope that works in Revit as it does in AutoCAD.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.
