I downloaded a trial version of PSE 12 to my mac, and imported my photo folders. It looks like PSE has renemed all my folder with strings of letters and characters. How can I retrieve my original folder names, or figure out how to identify the folders PSE has created?
View 7 RepliesI am trying to copy photos from one folder to another, leaving them in the original folder and have them show in the organizer in the new folder.
I find I can duplicate the photo and then drag and drop it, but each step takes literally a minute to complete (in explorer it is 1 second or less). To move a hundred photos one at a time to different folders would take quite a while.
so I tried to pull them in from the FILE button get new files and it won't because the photo exists in another folder in the catalog.
How can you have the organizer show photos in multiple folders, is it possible

I can't work on pictures from these folders - I get the message: File named xxx is offline or missing. It does not sync the parent folder. Nor does it sync the folder it self. If I right clik on a LR4 folder with a ?, and try to locate the folder, I only get the option to merge the identical folders. Is there any way to sort this. I can't restore the old folder names.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I am importing new images from my HDrive (where I want the masters) I choose ADD.the main folder is there ie GUJARAT and the subfolders are there too ie Gujarat 1, Gujarat 2 etc. When I close LR, and reopen, the folders have disappeared and do not show up under my HD on the left hand side. However, the photos are there in the main top folder which is my HD. When i locate the photo it does not say it is missing, however, the folder GUJARAT and the subfolders are not to be seen. Should I be choosing COPY instead of ADD? or creating a new catalog?Now, my folders and subfolders are not showing up, although the photos are still there..

I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.
I create a graphic in Corel Draw X4 and export it as a .png file. It is a button with rounded corners. It will be going on a black background when put into an iphone app. So as to not have the little white corners show up from the rectangular export window, I made the button on top of a black rectangle, slightly larger than the button. I then selected the black to be transparant during the dialogs of exporting to png. When viewed in an image viewer the black is indeed transparent and does not show up. All looks fine.
To test what it will look like when put on top of a black background, I also make a black square and export it as a .png. I then open the black background in Corel Photopaint and then import the graphic into the background image. A siloutte of it shows up with the marque borders but the graphic itself (the colors and contents of the graphic don't). When combined with the black background it just disappears. Why doesn't it just lay on top of the other graphic?
In PS CS6, when I save an image, it saves the image in the correct folder but renames the image PT-guipano(original file name).jpg.
For example: I open a file from LR4.1 by selecting the image and choosing (edit in PS CS6), then choose (edit the original). This opens the file in PS, I make some adjustments and hit (command S) on the keyboard. The image appears in LR in the original folder with a new name.
In my folders I can see folders with photos highlighted but i also see all other folders but greyed out . How do I change to view photo folders only ?

For instance, 3 days ago I uploaded a bunch of photos with their original filenames intact.. ie DSF1000 etc.
In Flickr I changed the filename to something more meaningful.
Yesterday, in LR, I selected 2 photos from the same batch of previously uploaded photos after modifying in Lightroom.
LR reuploaded all the same photos again..with the original file names (which I'd changed in Flickr) which meant Flickr comments and the view count was reset to 0.
What I require is an A4 enlargement of my imported Photo.

I had already edited this picture and 30 minutes later suddenly this happened (the above is a re-import of the CR2 file). Photos that have had this happen have come from different cameras and different CF cards. I'm using LR4.3 on Win7.
Photos in folder on hard drive (XP) can't import because 'Photo Already Imported'. I can't find it on LR Catalog (All Photographs), Collections or Folders Local Disk (C:) in LR.

It imports it flat, with every subfolder and parent folder listed on the same level, so my organisation is shot to hell. I'm sure it's me being dumb, (but in fact it's Elements being incredibly un-intuitive) but how to import an existing folder structure with many images, retaining the structure after import? View 2 Replies View RelatedI tired importing photos from one folder and about 300-400 of them weren't imported (out of about 1,000). I deleted them and tried again. Same thing. On the third try it imported all of them.My thought was maybe it's going to take more time importing images from my folders than learning to use the program. I can't learn the program if it keeps dropping images. I tried another directory of about 3,000 images but it only accepted about 300 of them. No matter how many times I tried, it would only import 300 out of the whole batch. These are good jpg files that all my other programs have no trouble with.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlso the correct file name does not appear on the top line when I display photos. It's like something just came in and mixed it all up. It seems to have only happened to recent photos and the older ones I think are ok. I am using PSE 9. I recently had to switch external hard drives and reconnect my catalog to the new hard drive. But that seemed to be OK except for losing most of the tags on my photos. When I tried to import missing files (because they are still on the harddrive) I get the message that the files already exist. However they are not showing in the files they are supposed to be in. I don't know what to do, I have a very large catalog which includes lots of digital scrapbook downloaded files.

And when I open a file, the wrong folder name appears at the top of the display. It seems to have pushed files down through the folder tree, moving previous files into folders that are about 5 folders down. I was going to reinstall, but I received a warning upon "uninstallation" that I need to deactivate my access number, but I don't know how to do that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing the "Folder Location" view in PSE 10, I have successfully moved all but one of my photo folders from a problematic user account into a new user account on my PC. One stubborn folder will not be moved, with PSE 10 incorrectly citing that "No files from this folder have imported into Elements Organizer."
I restarted PSE 10 multiple times, repeated the process, and even followed the instructions to "Right click on the folder and select 'Import to Organizer.'" The latter action, of course, imported nothing because the 3,000+ files in that file already exist in the Organizer.
As an experiment, I successfully used Windows Explorer to move the folder (don't worry, I undid the move before PSE 10 had a chance to disconnect the files from the Organizer) to the new user account. No problems with that temporary move, but I'm not interested in waiting for PSE 10 try to reconnect all 3,000+ files if I made that my permanent solution.
I am trying to sort through dozen of folders and organize them into albums. I would like to print out a list of those folders so that the task would be more manageable.
