View 6 RepliesI recently had to install a new C drive. My photos are all stored on an external drive which was called F by my old system. My new drive has labelled the external drive M. Lightroom is still looking for the F drive which no longer exists. How do I point Lightroom to M.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my photos on an external HDD that seems to be failing. My Lighroom library is found on this failing HDD. I want to move the photos to a new external HDD. What's the best way to transfer the photos to the new HDD and have Photoshop use that as the new library?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Acad 2012 on my personal computer...no network.
Last year I set up a new Design Center 2012 folder, that linked my DC toolbar icon, etc, containing my personal block set that I use in Design Center 2012. Everything worked great. Suddenly something has changed.
1. I previously removed the stock DC2012 folder and replaced the folder with a new folder titled Design Center 2012 folder containing my personal blocks, the new folder was placed it in the proper Autodesk file location and worked fine for a year,
When I now go to DC thru the toolbar icon it takes me to the stock DC folder blocks, which I physically can't find a trace of on my computer, but are obviously still on my hard drive somewhere.
2. There is no DC2012 folder which contains the stock blocks on my computer (I have them saved to another drive), only my personal blocks are in my new DC 2012 folder.
3. If drill down thru C drive properties to the AutoCad 2012 folder in Autodesk, my personal DC 2012 items are there and functioning fine if I click them directly.
So, how can I redirect the Acad DC toolbar icon, or whatever, to recognize my "real" (personal) DC 2012 folder w/my own blocks inside instead of the stock? It worked before.
It still errors out saying lightroom can't prepare the file, worked fine with all my random applications (Nik, Portraiture, etc.) in 3. Updated all I can figure to, reinstalled, used the CS Cleaner Tool, etc. No dice.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust updated LR 3.4.1 on a Man to 3.5. After I put the LR.app inti the App-Folder and started LR all of my presets were deleted.
They were saved in the /user/library/application support/etc. folder before and now they're gone (unfortunately I didn't saved my presets within the catalog)
I'm very annoyed about this because I have changed 12 export presets some days ago and haven't ran time machine after it.
I wasn't aware, that an update LR will kill my presets. Is there any way to get them back?
I need to work on some files on my laptop, but don't need my 22,000 photo catalog. Also, how would I update my original catalog?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn LR 4.1 i was able to open LR by rightclicking/ open with LR 4, directly from a file in my OLY ORF map. This is no longer possible after updating to 4.2. Windows 7-32 bit.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to LR4 I cannot save new templates or updating existing ones. When saving new templates nothing happens, when trying to update an existing template LR says: "There was an error saving this template."
View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated from LR 4.3 to LR 4.4 and now I can't start lightroom. It hangs at startup with the LR info tile displayed over the main window. This is on Windows 7 64 bit. Windows also has a hard time killing the app/process. Is it possible to safely downgrade to 4.3 ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get an error message after downloading and trying to install that lightroom cannot locate the lightroom-64.msi file due to the network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use LR 4.4 (Windows 7, 64-Bit) and i missed unter DEVELOPMENT Lens Adjustments my Nikkor 70-200mm 1:4G ED, only the 70-200mm 2.8 is available. I hope that with Adobe Lens Profile Downloader this could be corrected, but on the download instructions i see that Adobe Air is necessary. This I do not understand. Do I have to buy first Adobe AIR?? Or would it be better to Upgrade from LR 4.4 to LR 5?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do you verify LR4 has the RAW plug-in 7.2 update?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDownloaded and attempted to install 4.4 on Windows 7 64x machine.
Received error "shortcut not found" and instruction to see if the shortcut was still there.
Cancelled install.
Went to look for shortcut ... which was there.
Clicking on the shortcut results in error:"The item "lightroom.exe" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so the shortcut will no longer work properly."
LR 4.2 was working fine. I was just getting tired of the constant reminders to update.
I use lightroom to order and do small edits to photos. Alot of the time I will batch a set of photos through a couple actions (photoshop) before I start with lightroom. My problem arises when I (more often than not my colleuge) will start working with the wrong source pictures (either scaled down size or not batched yet). So i've got a collection with all the wrong sized photos as source. So my question is if i replace the picture withe the proper resolution files which are named the same is there a way i can force lighroom to "relink" with the high res versions? I tried deleting the source files with the hope that lightroom would ask me to relink them but it didn't.

I take a lot of images for time laspe sequences andI have just upgraded to LR5 and the issue I am seeing is after inporting or developing the images the only thumbnails that update are those I curently amm looking at in the library. I can scroll down after leaving the machine for hours and they only update when currently scrolled. This is really annoying and just taking ages to do anything. I have downloaded LR5.2 RC but there is no change that I can see.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi just noticed that there is no manual update file for ACR 7.2. most of our company computers are offline.
how should we update them without a manual update file?
[URL]..........
adobes says the final ACR 7.2 update is available through the CS6 update.well that is of no use when you have offline computers. This update will be released as manual update file too?! any infos?
I get the following error message when I attempt to update X6. Not sure what to do about it.

I made a change to my materials library. I changed the color (from dark grey to light grey) of one material. I then saved this back to my library.
Now, when I start a new part, I get a warning that the material does not match the library. So, rather than using the material in the part, I opened the template and updated the material to match the library. (Manage >Update Styles).
This is where the problems come into play. In the update styles dialog, if I compare materials against my custom materials and then compare it to my Favorites, it just a continuious circle. It is like the favorites are stored inside the part and do not get updated to match the custom materials library. (I thought the whole idea behind using a library was to get the information out of the parts).
Here is a short video showing what it does. [URL] .....
The only way I can get the favorites to match is to delete the favorite material, update the style and the add the favorite back in. That is a bunch of work. The problem I got with this is that there are thousands of parts that have been created that has this favorite in it. The only way to update these is to open each part (if I knew which one), delete the favorite, update the materials and then add the favorite back in.
I see the same thing in 2013 and 2014.
I imported more 2,000 pictures. Then I did one batch change (adjusting the curve (tonality) by Lightroom).
But it looks like, only on the page, I actually see, the previews are updated.
If go to the next page of 24 pictures. At first I see the old preview. Then the CPU and hard drive activity is increasing and picture by picture the preview is updated. So I've to wait 15 seconds, until I can decide, if the settings of the pictures are a good start or not. And then I've to page again and wait 15 seconds
I expect, that Lightroom does it: in backgroundin parallel and not only one picture by picture (15 seconds are cause by sequencially processing; I've an Intel i7 with 4 cores and 3.6 GHz, it's not the slowest machine, but Lightroom only use up to 25% of my whole CPU resources. how I should be able to handle a mass of pictures, if I have to page and wait always.
Is there any magic shurtcut, command, setting, to enforce such an auto update?
I've got two large catalogs (one business, one personal) that work perfectly fine in LR4.4, but when I try to upgrade them to LR5 I get the error, "Lightroom couldn't update the format of its catalog file because the file appears to be damaged."
The catalogs sure don't seem damaged as they work perfectly in LR4.4. I've been able to update a few small single-shoot catalogs, is this a known problem with updating large catalogs (65k photos in one, 180k in the other)?
is there a method or setting to force LR4 to update the prewies in "bulk", means outside of the grid too?
problem is that when applying development changes on image sequences with hundreds of images, or even a smaller bunch of images LR4 only shows the applied changes in the current grid view.
for updating the previews one has to go back and forth in preview by hand. this seems a bit stone age and can take a while.
this was never a problem in bridge, which - although it took its time to create ALL previews - afterwards allowed for quick scrolling trough images with all previews generated. this was especially good for watching stop-motion movies and applying xmp RAW development changes.
for LR4 RC3, this would be a nice option to have... classic, like it is now, and a "force update previews outside grid view" with a true progress indicator / counter, like with bridge.
an example where we started using lightroom during production and ran exactly into the problem of slow / missing preview updates after applying batch XMP / development changes can be seen here (about 32000 raw files processed, 7500 used for the film)[url].....
It seems as though after updating to version 3.3, my "edit in photoshop" functionality has stopped working. When I choose this option, Photoshop will open, but Lightroom does not bring up a dialog for exporting the photo, nor do I see a progress bar in lightroom for exporting of the photo as I used to.
I can (and have) create a user preset for exporting to accomplish the same functionality
After updating to LR 3.6 all of my files are now black & white 'highkey' and ugly as hell. Any new files I add are initially correct in the 'color' I shot them but once I select a single file they are all converted to the same crappy black/white. I uninstalled LR and reinstalled but the values are retained time and time again.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter the latest update my catalog seem to be missing. My photo's are in Collections, but as soon as I want to work with them ; I get message Photo missing. (See attached.
If I try and find missing folder and check box - DON'T IMPORT SUSPECTED DUPLICATES - the tick goes away as if the photos are already imported. (See attached print screens.
How can you undo the Photo menu option "Update DNG Preview & Metadata" in the Develop module?
I accidentally hit this at which point Lightroom added a "From Metadata" entry to the history for the file. It also seemed to update the preview for the file (as seen with before / after).
I tried to undo the change, but all Lightroom did was remove history items ("From Metadata" remained at the top, all the edit sliders stayed the same (even though history was being removed) and the "before" image was permenantly changed.
Not even resetting the image from Library -> Photo -> Develop Settings -> Reset, then "Update DNG Preview & Metadata" worked.
Is the only way back from this operation to delete the DNG and reimport? It's not as if Lightroom warns you that the operation cannot be undone as with the "Read Metadata from File" command.
I'm using Lightroom 3.6 on Windows 7 SP 1.
I've downloaded the file on the download page 9 times, and get the same error each time I try mounting it in OSX 10.6.8. My machine has the right specs. The downloaded file size is always 411.7 mb, but the download page says it should be 392.7 mb.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using LR for ages at work and recently got offered a free full version of LR 4 by Amazon Vine programme. I happily installed it on my laptop and imported my presets which I mostly created myself.I was shocked to find that they look completely different on LR 4 (last version I used was 3.4) and found out that this is due to the new process version.
I have to tweak a LOT and still am not satisfied with the results. The main problem seems to be that ALL photos start with a linear curve, no matter which custom curve the preset contains. Is this a bug or a feature? It is really getting on my nerves and I am considering to go back to good old LR 3 again. Questions I have:
1. Could this problem be due to the fact that I did not to an upgrade but installed a completely new version of LR3?
2. Whenever I google I find the hint that there should be a dialog menue like this URL... this dialog never appears on my LR version. Or it did for the first time and I clicked "Don't show again" - I can not remember If I did chose to not show it again - can I redo it? Maybe it would make the tweaking easier if I had a preview which I absolutely don't have on my LR version.
