Lightroom :: 4 - Access Denied To File

I am using Windows 7, Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5. My workflow is to download in LR, some editing, and then to finish in PS-
The first problem I saw first in LR when certain files had the message "Access denied to this file". I could not open, edit, move, nor copy these files, although other photos taken on the same day and downloaded at the same time were unaffected. These files can not be opened in any other program.
The second problem has happened to me twice now. I use two external hard drives - "Freecom F" and "Elements G". There is very little on G-only backups.
On opening LR I see that "G" has all the folders from "F" although they are all "missing". "F" drive does not appear at all in library mode, but if I try to import, then "F" appears, but all the images have the message "Appears to have been already imported to LR".

I have several photos which carry the message "File access denied". On the same folder there are photos taken on the same day which I can access. I dont believe that I have done anything to the photos outside of LR (4). I use Windows 7

My laptop was recently infected and therefore wiped clean and re-loaded with Vista.
I have tried to load my copy of CS4 from the disc but get the message file access denied.I've tried another laptop - same message - and my Lightroom loads ok.

I have pemiere elements 10,when i get done with a project i can go to the session log file,select all-delete all.----i just bought photoshop 11, and it will not allow me to do this and the log already has a lot of in it, within 2 days.how to over ride'access denied?

My computer had to be reformatted and I need to reinstall elements10. I have the key. I tried using Pro Design Tools but when I click on file 1 or file 2 I get a Access denied message.

I'm not talking about the "deactivate" menu being greyed out or anything. I can select it and then tick the checkbox to erase my serial-number, but when clicking on "Deactivate" and answering with "Yes", it takes about 2-3 seconds before I get a "Deactivation denied" message.I tried to call Adobe Support, but the woman I got on the phone was completely useless. She didn't understand what I wanted to do, and wanted to provide me with new activation details. I explained to her three times why that wouldn't work and she simply skipped ahead to the next useless response in her database.Here is what I'm trying to do:1) Deactivate the entire CS4 Master Suite.2) Make a backup of the my HD3) Clean-install Windows 7 RC (can't upgrade from Vista Business)4) Install and activate CS4 Master Suite on Windows 7.If that works (including my other important software) then I would continue using that machine until Windows 7 final is released in October and then I would need to repeat steps 1-4 again (you can't upgrade the RC to the full version).If that doesn't work (or one of my important programs doesn't work) then I would use the back-up and re-activate CS4.Why is there a limit for deactivations? Upgraded my BIOS to the latest version and my mirrored raid freaked out. So, I have to resetup my raid, reformat my drives, and reinstall windows. During my "closing up" of my current windows install (backup any other data, deactivate software, etc), Photoshop's deactivation software is giving me:Deactivation denied.Click this link for help troubleshooting deactivation problem.Error code: 194:1For the record I've only previously deactivated this particular piece of software once in the past, and this is the only machine that it's installed on. I can't do anything with my machine until I get this deactivated and after being on hold with adobe customer service for near a half an hour, I feel like I'm getting no where.

I entered my printer's specified color settings and saved them as a csf file in the colorsync folder. Now when I try to convert to or proof as these settings they don't show up in the custom profiles drop-down and when I hit the load button and navigate to the colorsync folder the csf file is greyed-out and I can't choose it.

I have previously written an assembly (netload) application for our document management system for our office. This assembly loaded a sheet set file (dst) and read / manipulated / saved and exported data. It was very slow.
I was wondering before I progress a reimplementation if it is possible to have external application access to the dst file using the various dll files and lib files (autodesk shared / application root and object arx 2010 - 2012), and if so, which ones.
I have tried to use the same references I used for my 2010 / 2012 netload assembly but I am receiving errors like "FileNotFoundException was unhandled" I belive I have traced this to the issue that I need more or specific references in addition to:
acdbmgd.dll (.net)
acmgd.dll (.net)
acsmcomponents18 1.0 type library (com)
autodesk.autocad.interop.common (com)
the actual error message when I open a dst file is:

I would like to know if it is possible to save changes directly in the source data base file (Access) from Auto Cad Map.
I have a polyline draw (Footpath network). I have converted this draw to shapefile, and then I connect it to the Access Data Base via ODBC with a join.
The problem is that this shapefile is not definitive, and it is probably that some people will need to edit and create new features, and I don´t know how to do it.
Which would be the best option to do this? It would be better if I work with the dwg drawings and the data sources?.

I just installed Photoshop CS6, on my new PC. I previously installed Photoshop CC but have decided not to upgrade to that version yet.
When I start either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of CS6, I immediately get a message saying that it could not open a scratch file because it is locked, or I do not have permissions (I have administrator privileges). The message urges me to go to "Properties" with Windows Explorer but does not tell me where the file is located.
My PC has an SSD (C: drive) with enough space for the Photoshop program (installed there) but I do not want any scratch file installed there. I just brought up Photoshop CC and see that the D drive is specified as the scratch drive.
Am I not able to run Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC (not at the same time) on the same PC?

Is there any way you can access an AutoCAD file embedded in an IDW by using VBA?I have an IDW with about 100 sheets; it would like to control which file is embedded in each of the sheets.
The best would be to use linked files but I do not know how to make certain files visible on certain sheets.

I am having this message display EVERY time I try and save something in my newly installed Photoshop (cs5) "Could not save "filename.jpg” because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to unlock the file or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders.
I have tried Uninstalling and reinstalling after resetting permissions, I have tried saving the file under a new name, I have tried adding a new admin... nothing seems to work and my Illustrator is working seamlessly!??

I installed photoshop and it worked fine but after restarting my computer it wont open and gives me the "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" The only way i have got on photoshop since is on safe mode or by completely reinstalling photoshop until i restart my computer again. Is there anything wrong, I don't know if AVG is blocking something or what.

trying recover anything i can from a corrupted PSD file. What happened was I saved my work and closed photoshop and hit the reset button on my PC afterwards by mistake (i dont see why this caused a problem because the program was fully closed at the time). When I open the file now it says it uses an unsupported blending mode, if i press ok I get an error saying incompatible PS version, if I press flatten it says unexpected end of file was encountered. Ive tried PSD repair tools and searched the net for solutions and there doesn't seem to be any.
The thing is, the thumbnail of the file seems to be intact because I can still see it as the file icon. I wanted to know if there was any way i can access this thumbnail image so i can enlarge it.

I am able to open any animated gif in PS Elements and immediately have access to all of the individual frames that make up the animation.When I try that in CS2, I only see one image. Is there a way to open up all of the individual images of a animated gif file in CS2?

When I try to open photoshop I get the following message "Could not open a scratch file because you do not have the necessary access privileges". I click OK and get "Could not open Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges". It then closes.
My CS4 Illustrator opens fine. Photoshop opened just fine 2 days ago.
I tried to open Indesign and that just crashes immediately (but I have never opened Indesign before...).
The only thing I can think of that might be relevant is that my computer was stolen about 6 months ago - when I got a replacement computer I simply reinstalled the same CS4.

Error of "Could not save (file name) because write access was not granted. The users are pulling the files from a Mountain Lion server. They all have readwrite access. If they try to save the file in the same directory they get that error but they can save it anywhere else on the sharepoint. If they save it in another directory then reopen it make a change and do a save as they can save it back to the original directory.

Corel X4 and all other versions before, Autocad & 3DS Max, create nifty graphic in Corel, export as image (jpeg 90% of time), Hit render in Acad & 3ds, tweek graphic in Corel - export again, hit render again, over and over and over until result is satifactory.
Corel X5, same process UNTIL I render once in Acad or 3ds, then try to export same jpeg from Corel then bam, "Cannot access file because it is being used by another process", this has to be a joke, right ? I have to shut down Acad AND OR 3ds then export out of Corel, then launch and reopen Acad & or 3ds file.
This is what I do at work all day long, I currently have reinstalled Corel X4 just so I can continue to work.The exported file is not being edited or used at the time I export form Corel, Coreldraw THINKS it is being used. The file is only being used during the time it takes to be rendered, I have been doing this for years and have never got a file locked message before.
Things I have tried to remedy this.
1. Look at the security properties of the actual exported image file, everything is set to full control for everyone & I dont see anything about file locking.
2. Scanned the "options" & "customization" section in Coreldraw, I cannot see anything that would control a setting like this.
3. Unchecked all options in jpeg export dialogue except anti-alias, I knew this had nothing to do with it but you leave nothing left to chance.
I cannot think of any program that a typical user may have on their Windows machine to test this out, I know when you open an image in an editor like MS Paint, you of course cannot overwrite the image file from another program, that is what Coreldraw X5 believes is the situation, but it is not.
export a jpeg from Corel X5, click on the jpeg and it will open in Windows Photo Viewer, keep it open in the viewer then change the graphic in Corel, export it again to the same file name, it will ask if you want to overwrite it, say yes, it WILL NOT say that the file is in use, export it, then close the Windows viewer, open the same file in the viewer, it has not changed from the original export, THAT is crazy beyond words, I have never seen a process on a computer being completed with no error message while the process was never actually done, that goes beyond the current intelligence of computers, and I believe this is the crux of the problem.

I have an international group that is using a VPN tunnel to access our servers to work on .dwg files. Every so often, ACAD "seems" to crash however, it is really or appears to be timing out on accessing file information. Of course, this depends on bandwidth usage and is intermittent because of this reason.
How to change the file request/access timeout in ACAD?
I'm assuming it's a registry hack.
Info: Our international group is using AutoCAD Architecture 2014 on Windows 7 64bit computers.

Been using gimp a while, but today gimp refused to open my file system. Apart from my most recently used folder, the entire file system was greyed out. In fact the 'open' and 'open as layers' dialogues became non-responsive.
I am running 2.8.4. on Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
I have already restarted and re-installed, and updated to most recent from 2.8.2.

I use a QNAP Network Attached Storage as the home for LR library so that a number of computers in the house can access the same files and various other DLNA clients can do slideshows on partcular directories if we want.
This is great when we are on our home network, but if I want to work on an image in LR while I am away from home I have to remember to make local copies (to my laptop HD) in advance.
I have a static IP and can access the required directories and files through a browser or VPN when I'm away from home. I was wondering if it's possible to give LR the web address of the directory I want to use as my library so that my photos are available to me anywhere so long as I have a web connection?
