CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Cannot Access File Because It Is Being Used By Another Process
Jun 22, 2011
Corel X4 and all other versions before, Autocad & 3DS Max, create nifty graphic in Corel, export as image (jpeg 90% of time), Hit render in Acad & 3ds, tweek graphic in Corel - export again, hit render again, over and over and over until result is satifactory.
Corel X5, same process UNTIL I render once in Acad or 3ds, then try to export same jpeg from Corel then bam, "Cannot access file because it is being used by another process", this has to be a joke, right ? I have to shut down Acad AND OR 3ds then export out of Corel, then launch and reopen Acad & or 3ds file.
This is what I do at work all day long, I currently have reinstalled Corel X4 just so I can continue to work. The exported file is not being edited or used at the time I export form Corel, Coreldraw THINKS it is being used. The file is only being used during the time it takes to be rendered, I have been doing this for years and have never got a file locked message before.
Things I have tried to remedy this.
1. Look at the security properties of the actual exported image file, everything is set to full control for everyone & I dont see anything about file locking.
2. Scanned the "options" & "customization" section in Coreldraw, I cannot see anything that would control a setting like this.
3. Unchecked all options in jpeg export dialogue except anti-alias, I knew this had nothing to do with it but you leave nothing left to chance.
I cannot think of any program that a typical user may have on their Windows machine to test this out, I know when you open an image in an editor like MS Paint, you of course cannot overwrite the image file from another program, that is what Coreldraw X5 believes is the situation, but it is not.
export a jpeg from Corel X5, click on the jpeg and it will open in Windows Photo Viewer, keep it open in the viewer then change the graphic in Corel, export it again to the same file name, it will ask if you want to overwrite it, say yes, it WILL NOT say that the file is in use, export it, then close the Windows viewer, open the same file in the viewer, it has not changed from the original export, THAT is crazy beyond words, I have never seen a process on a computer being completed with no error message while the process was never actually done, that goes beyond the current intelligence of computers, and I believe this is the crux of the problem.
I have a subroutine i wrote that works fine.Just not sure how to turn it into a batch processor so i can apply it to all the files in a directory. And would I just run it like i run the non-batch version, like, from a document? Or is there some kind of batch process setup in corel where I can just load a sub and point to a folder and run it, like illustrator?
I'm having problems updating.I downloaded the update, but when going to install, is still on the screen and the update does not continue the upgrade process.
I just upgraded to X5 and now suddenly I am having difficulty printing to my dell 3110cn laser printer. I get the error, "Unable to access printer driver. Try removing and reinstalling this printer driver". If I click OK I get the error a couple of more times followed by "Internal application error." Then Corel Draw crashes. My PC is running Windows 7 64 bit.
I have tried re-installing the printer driver with the latest from dell and uninstalling and re-installing corel draw, but nothing has worked. I am about ready to go back to X4.
I have a palette provided by Roland for their digital printers to match their standard colors. In order for the colors to be recognized and converted by the RIP, they need to be set as spot colors in CorelDraw X5.
It would be nice if I could change the Treat As Process/Spot attribute for multiple colors at once in the palette editor.
I peeked at the CPL file--unfortunately it's not something easy to edit like XML, CSV or the like. Too bad that, too.
I cannot access the options button on the tools menu. It pops up error message that says Required resource unavailable. Then the program locks up and I have to restart the computer.
I have some Ai files that I need to open in X6 but they use linked images which I have, but when opening in CorelDraw all I get is the basic Ai stuff but not the linked images, is there an easy way to open the Ai file and see it as it was intended?
As a sub note I can't go back to the supplier of the Ai file to make any changes.
I just used the help file for the first time in ages and noticed all the links to the graphics are broken hence no diagrams etc. I tried to search out where they are usually stored and it gives some weird Address under properties. It's a vba so suppose it's a database? How do I restore the links without having to do a re-install?
As to the pen: How do you stop the annoying over-the-top predictive curve that happens past the node in the next section after a long drag to form the first curve. i.e. you simply want to draw a straight line after dragging out a curved section previously and you get this unmanageable curve to deal with ?
I´m trying to extract text from a Corel file to a TXT file in another editor and then merge it back in.Extracting the text seems to be working just fine but when I´m trying to merge it back in I get the error message "Wrong file format or could not open".
After finally getting X6 to be stable and usable I have two things I'd like to mention..
First, I've been using a 3rd party file manager called Ztree for years and one of its most wonderful capabilities is to copy paths to the clipboard which alleviates opening/saving frustrations with the typical Windoze Explorer dialogs. Anyway, one of the first problems I noticed with X6 is that Paste no longer works in the Open Drawing dialog, while it worked just fine in X5 and as far as I can remember, all previous versions. I sure would like to get that back.
My second complaint is the File/Export routine and specifically the presets. I do a lot of exporting to PNG and JPG and use multiple presets for fixed size/print resolution image output in both file formats. During the typical export session, I essentially export multiple different drawings all of which are exactly the same size/resolution in CD and in the past (X4 and prior as I recall,) was able to just hit <Enter> when the Export dialog appeared once the preset was set to the one I needed for that session.
In X6 though (and to some degree in X5,) even though the correct preset is listed, CD doesn't appear to recognize it, i.e., the math for the size/dpi conversion doesn't take place which forces me to waste time selecting "Original" or some other preset first, waiting for CD to render the new version, and THEN selecting the conversion preset that was pre-selected when I first opened the export dialog.
I have a bitmap in PSD format with 300 DPI, 19.0 cm (7.0 ") wide. I need to enlarge this photo to 6.5 m (255") wide and its resolution to keep a minimum 120 DPI.
What better way to enlarge this photo without becoming a huge file (in MB), but keep a good quality when printing?
I'm writing an application in C++ that loads vector images from a source directory and convert them in bmp or other non vectorial format in the destination directory. I need to load CDR file also, but unfortunatly I can't find a documantation regarding the proprietary CDR file format.
Of course, these informations aren't published by Corel that maintain the secret of the format. But my question is: does Corel sell some SDK that provides some functions, callable directly from the source code written in c++, that permits the conversion of the file?
Q When I import an EPS file into CorelDRAW, and print to a non-PostScript printer, the output appears pixelated and unclear. Why?
A An EPS file is a Postscript (PS) file and meant to be printed to a PostScript printer. When printed to a non-PostScript printer, it will only print the file header which is a low resolution preview of the actual file. If you wish to print the actual contents of the EPS file to a non-PostScript printer, import the file it into CorelDRAW using the PostScript Interpreted (PS, PRN, EPS) filter. So, apparently it can be done, but when I try to import this file into my Coreldraw, there is no option to import with that type of filter that I can see. Is this something that is missing in v12? If v12 wont do it, is there any other way to import this file without it coming in all pixellated? Or is there another way to convert the file into a format such as .plt?
I am new to Corel Draw and am slowly teaching myself. I created a drawing in Corel Draw and then exported it to DXF. I then opened them in a CAD application to actually cut the image out in a water jet. The size of the drawing was not modified, only the corners were fillet (because I could not figure it out in Corel Draw at that time). When I imported it back into COrel Draw to fill it with my image, the size of the drawing was about a 1/2 " bigger (width and height) than it was when I exported it. This is the only place where the size is different.
I am creating a menu for a cient as a PDF. When I open it up in PDF format it is too large (174%) to view each page individually. It works well at about 75%. Is there a way I can have it open up at 75%?
I am trying to upload a file for a microstock site that requires an eps file under 8MB. As a cdr file, it is under 25KB but when I export the file as an eps it rockets to over 400,000KB.
I have several Coral Draw-12 files saved in a particular folder. The problem is when i am trying to open a particular file it's fine but, when trying to open a second or third .cdr file (with the first file opened) from the same folder it' s not opening.
i have a problem with CorelDraw X5where the file i open is bigger than A4 and on a custom set page size. and it opens like this.and in signcut it is
i need to edit the file and i dont know why coreldraw X5 is not letting me view the entire file. How i can overcome this or if there are any settings that i may have chanced of hot key shortcuts that i could have pressed by accident. also i have been using draw x5 for about a year put i only use half the program for what i need it for.
Running CorelX5 on windows 7 - On my work computer when I have a file open and hit the save button I'm getting the message "can not save, file is open or being used by other program". I have to save as a different name. I assume another program is to blame and is associated with .cdr.
I have been using Corel since 1989. I simply downloaded a pic from Corel gallery and even removed C15 many times still no joy. All hundreds of files are effected..
I have posted before about not being able to open X5 and receiving a "Coreldraw has encountered a problem and needs to close." error message upon launch. I have not been able to resolve this issue.
I have to work on a graphic file and need it converted top X3 (this version opens) as it was created in X5.
