How do I create numbered lists in InDesign where the number is a paper or white character inside a colored circle?Is this a glyph? A combination of a numbered list and circles?
View 4 RepliesI have a lot of engineering data, dimensions, etc, to enter into an existing IDCS6 Table. I need whole numbers to display full size, but fractions to be small size. I know I can use Open Type and select the Fractions option for each individual fraction, but that would take forever.
How do I create a style (or whatever) that will allow me to just type in the numbers and have them automatically apply small formatting to the fraction portion of the number whenever it sees a "/"?
Along a similar line, I was trying to copy table data from a PDF document from Acrobat X Pro and paste that into an IDCS6 table, so each cell is populated by the appropriate cell data from the PDF file, but didn't have any success. That would really save me a lot of time, because I have many complete tables in PDF format. The data is not protected in the PDF, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to bring it over to IDCS6.
On a Mac, OSX 10.8.5.
I have a paragraph style for numbered lists with rule below set to text width. But the rule doesn't extend to the left below the numbers. Is there a way to do this automatically without having to set negative left indents for each one? There are 80+ list items and since I'm not using a monospaced font, the rule would need to be slightly different lengths throughout.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving problems with parts lists not showing the correct part numbers of the parts included in the assembly. In some cases I've made a new part by renaming an existing part but when I create a parts list it shows the part no of the original existing part used to create the new part, even though the new part is the one in the assembly. Also I have just had a number of similar assemblies and needed to produce parts lists for them. I created the first one and then used 'save as' to rename the drawing including the parts list. Then when I re-opened the newly renamed drawing I assigned it to it's new assembly. However the parts list did not update to show the new part numbers included in it's new assembly.
Is all this a glitch in the system or is there something in the set-up which is causing this problem?
I was working on a PDF and I successfully exported it back to PDF once, but there was more work that I needed to do to the PDF. When I changed what I wanted and saved again it gave me little boxes with cirlces in between numbers I had added in a text box. I tried to save it as a JPG and that worked. However, I need to save it as a PDF..
Also to clarify. This is what shows up on the exported PDF. This does NOT show up on an exported JPG or on the document when edited in GIMP.

I need to edit page numbers (see below). I have tried to delete, move, copy, and select to no avail.
I know you can add page numbers by going to Type > Insert Special Characters > Markers.. The options listed in Markers are not clickable. how I can edit these page numbers.
This morning the shop brought back a set of drawings and requested that I provide a cut list for the fab department. Our drawings consist of an assembly drawing and materials list on the first page with several individual parts on each of the following pages. I am looking at including a column in the ML for the operation ( laser, saw, shear) and sorting the list by it. However when I do this the Item Numbers on the list are all confused. If a person were to look at a balloon on a drawing and then attempt to find it in the list it would be difficult and time waster.
The questions.
1. Is there a way to renumber the item list after sorting the material?
2. If I place an assembly view off the edge of the sheet for each of the following sheets and then place a materials list on each sheet, is it possible to create a plugin that would find which parts are on the sheet and hide all the other parts on the list? I have just started going through the "my first plugin" tutorial and this sounds like a place where it should be useful but I don't know which tags I need to look for.
I set up a pretty little table of contents for a handbook and wrestled the styles into place. But, for some reason, I have two page numbers that are wacked out to the right of everything else.
The page numbers are set up on the master page and are very simple. It's the same master for all of the pages.
There are two styles at work in the TOC, messing with those doesnt change anything.
Why would these two, and only these two, get kicked off their mark?

Now I'm trying to fill that circle in with the fill tool but it's filling in the entire background of the whole image. I've never had a problem with this before. Now PS7 wants me to do things differently.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay, I'm new to associative arrays, I'm attaching a drawing so you can see what I'm trying to accomplish with this. I'm doing an elevation view of a slab that has a cross section of the rebar. I've shown one of the bars spanning from left to right, represented by a rectangle, and the cross section of the bars running front to back represented by circles. You can see what I'm trying to show here. In the drawing I've attached, the top three sketches are examples of how this would look if it were working correctly.
What I'm trying to do is create an array (of circles) that will stretch to the length of the bar spanning left to right. I want the quantity of items in the array to automatically change based on the length of the bar and the spacing of items, so if there is 6" of spacing between the items instead of 12" it will automatically add twice the amount of items to fill in that space. I've been trying to use a path array, and it isn't working the way I want. I'm not familiar with rectangular arrays, so not sure what to do there either.
I have subroutine that retrieves a list of detail numbers in a drawing. Sometimes there are missing numbers. I am looking to find a list of any missing numbers.
Example -

I am trying to link my parts list to a drawing however all balloons have different numbers.
I open the assembly and check everything out from vault I open my bom and change item numbers. When I get back to my drawing and apply for auto balloon I get completely different item numbers in my balloons. We just updated our software to a new 2012 version so it's maybe something with set up.
Is there a way to sync callout numbers to correspond with note numbers. When I add or delete notes in my drawings it takes to much time to update the callout number in the drawings. I need to figure out a way for the note and corresponding callout to change at the same time.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a logo. Circular logo with an inner ring maybe 4 px wide and 15 px inside the rim of the outer circle.
Basically I want a blue circle with a yellow inside ring. What's the best way of doing this? The only thing i can think of is: creating a blue circle marquee, and then another (trying to estimate a new circle size and change the color) that is yellow, and then making another smaller blue circle inside the new one. That's just ugly.
I tried the edit/stroke but that just gave me a stroke around the outer circle; it didn't put a ring inside the circle 15 px down.
Also I tried to contract the original circle by selecting it, then Modify/contract. That's got me a selected ring, inside the circle. Now how in the world do I make that little ring yellow? It just remains selected and I can't seem to find a way to color it.
I sell limited edition prints of a run of between 350 and 500.
I am trying to get it set up so that my signature and the print number is included as part of the print. Here is an example:
You'll see at bottom left there is my signature and underneath is is the print number e.g. 110/350 (this is legible when printed at 18x12" size).
Inserting the signature and the "/350" is easy since it only needs to be done once per image.
The difficulty comes with inserting the actual print number e.g. "110"
At the moment I have 0 to 9 written out and scanned in as separate numbers. So to make "110" I use the "1" digit twice, plus the "0" digit. I.e. I haven't written out 1 to 500 and scanned them in all as separate numbers, I've just done the 10 digits and use those 10 digits to make all the different numbers I need.
Is there a way to create an action that will create say 350 JPEG copies of the original file, each one with its own unique print number inserted? (And ideally automatically saved with the print number as its file name!)

i realsed that it is able to get the first column but can get the coordinate from the second one

However, when I get to page 6 I get a message 'downloading font' and then the programme hangs and I have to use windows task master to close it down. There are only three fonts being used on the page and according to Font Finder no fonts are missing. This is driving me crazy and I'm fast approaching my printers deadline.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a 12 page interactive PDF with a set of 12 buttons (set in the master page) at the bottom of page that relates to each page. When clicked the button should you directly to that page.
I have used this method many times before in CS5 using Go to destination in Buttons and setting each page as a destination. It normally works great.
However, in CS6, once I export to interactive PDF and open in Acrobat Pro the buttons all seem to disappear once you click on the 3rd or 4th page button.
I have stripped the indesign doc back to include no other content - just the buttons, with no rollover effects etc but I am still having the same problem
I can supply the relevant indesign doc and exported PDF. One forum member suggested trying to open it in Acrobat Reader instead and it worked fine. This is OK to a point but I really need it opening in Acrobat Pro.
I need to create an output PDF that is CMYK for the printer.
I thought I was doing everything correctly until I got this message that was generated when I selected Export (to PDF), "The document is using CMYK space. Colors are converted to RGB in interactive PDF files. To avoid color changes, click Cancel and choose Document RGB from the Edit > Transparency Blend Space menu. Click OK to continue."
So, I think this means that the PDF export is being saved in an RGB color space. Is that a correct interpretation? If so, how do I preserve the CMYK color space because that is what the commercial printer requires? Is that even possible or relevant?
I'm having trouble trying to figure how to create a mini TOC in a book. The content of the book is divided in 6 files.
Sample of how it looks likes
1) - Front cover (Pg 1)
2) - EN (Pg 2-20)
3) - SE (Pg 21-40)
4) - DE (Pg 41-60)
5) - FR (Pg 61-80)
6) - ES (Pg 81-100)
From file 2-6 they have their own TOC. Simple and it works, since each file have their own list.
I'm trying to create a small TOC on the front cover telling me each page numbers for each language file/chapter.
EN............2-20
SE..........21-40
DE..........41-60
FR..........61-80
ES........81-100
At the moment, I do it manually. But, maybe there is no simple solution....
