why do brush-windows from the library disappear when restarting illustrator (even when saving the workspace)? idon't want to use the "brushes" window becauseui can't switch through my brush libraries as comfortable..

I've created a new art Brush: New brush>Art Brush> and made my selections and clicked ok. The brush then shows in the brush palette where I have access to use it but then when I close the document and reopen a new one the brush dissapears. Where did it go and how do I get it back??
Not sure where I am going wrong in saving the brush.

i already tried removing and reinstaling but it didnt work
With an open file, if I drag it to a new position, the content of the picture disappears, showing only the desktop underneath.
If I click on it with any tool, the content comes back. Drag it again and the content disappears.
Of course, if I turn off OpenGL features in prefs, the behavior goes away (as do all of the cool features like continuous zoom, sharp at all zoom percentages, etc.).
Vid car is ATI Radeon X1950 Pro with newest drivers.
I have CS installed on my laptop. running WinXPPro, and unfortunately a few weeks ago CS started to behave badly. The program appears to load fine but 1 or 2 seconds after finally loading the program disappears from both the Application list and the window. The Task manager continues to show the Photoshop.exe process but its doing nothing. I have deleted preferences, I have re-installed, I have removed FlashPlayer (a CS3 problem sounded similar) all to no avail. Oddly enough ImageReady CS performs fine - it just doesn't give me the features I need access to do my work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just began having problems with Photoshop today. I wanted to apply Blending Options to a layer. The Layer Style window opened but it was nowhere to be found! Because I could not access this window to either perform a task or close it, I had to Control/Alt/Delete because nothing else in the program would work. Obviously, it was waiting for a response to the window but as I couldn't see it, I couldn't access it. I've never had this problem before and I've just spent four hours trying to find the problem, including messing with screen resolutions and monitor designations (I use a laptop with a flat screen as #2 monitor). Can someone please help me!!Thanks, in advance, for your advice.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden my cursor will become invisible. This happens only with AutoCAD. and if I switch between drawing windows it will appear on another drawing file. I have to close the drawing and open it again and then the cursor will be back only to disappear again. The cursor is visible if I move it back to the ribbon or bottom controls. It seems to happen only when it becomes the cross-hair cursor. I can still make selection windows and right click.
Mouse is working fine with all other programs and drivers are up-to-date.
When I crop a cdr image, part of the image disappears within the crop window. Clicking inside the cropped image reveals node locations as if the image is still there but the black lines are invisible. But, there are some objects visible in the cropped image.

I have an Nvidia Geforce 7900GS card with an old 2006 driver, 8.4.4.0 I tried updating to driver 306.81 from earlier this month and whilst this solved the brush issue, it caused the PC's cooling fans to operate much more frequently (and noisily) than before so I concluded it was not so suitable for my card.
In view of this, should I be trying an older driver, say from 2009 as the earlier post suggests "because that bug was fixed by Nvidia back in the Spring of 2009"
If so, which one?
I'm running XP, SP3 PC has dual core Pentium CPU 3.4GHz, 4GB RAM (3.25 useable with XP) CS6 updated with all available updates.
This happens occasionally-out of nowhere the brush tool stops showing as a circle of specfic diameter and shows as a crosshairs, which does me no good whatever. This goes for all tools using the brush presets-brush, eraser, and stamp. I can't do anything. because I can't see the tool I'm working with. I tried restarting PS, then restarting with trashed prefs. Neither worked. I know that sooner or later it will come back and all wil be well, but meanwhile, the deadlines are creeping closer & closer. The enemy is at the gates.

Brush tip shape section on the brush panel shows the brush tips for the selected set of the brush presets ... at the end of the list there are some brush tips (they are changing with the selected set) and they are not included in the selected set of brush presets. Where are those additional brush tips are coming from?
For example ... for calligraphic brushes, at the top I can see the tips for the set of calligraphic brushes in the window ... but, there are some other brush tips there at the bottom (red lined). Where are they coming from?
I've loaded a set of brushes I created into CS6. They show up fine in the menu bar brush window, in the Preset Manager, in the Brush Preset palette above my layers palette, but they will not appear in the brush preset fly-out window. This is where I do all the manipulating of my brushes, of course, so this is essential. I have created many, many brushes and done this many, many times and have never had this problem.

What I'm not fine with is not being able to hide that pop window that's supposed to aid you with knowing how the stylus is positioned in space. It's annoying. I want to hide it, or at least make it smaller.
I do like the brush icon at the tip though and how it changes shape based on angle.
I'm having a problem with the Blob Brush tool where I can't change the basic brush to something else. Whenever I pick a brush I want and I try draw with the Blob Brush tool, the brush I picked reverts back to the basic brush. Here are screenshots:

Am I doing something wrong or is the Blob Brush tool only capable of using the basic brush?
I have a drawing made up of black and transparent, super nested, compound paths. when I use the black selection tool to resize it, it disappears!!!

Basically, once you click the icon, the Illustrator logo comes up in the dock for a split second, and then disappears.
I have look at the Console Utilities and there are no Diagnostic Reports or System errors concerning Illustrator.
As you can see when I drag the appearance swatch to apply it to the text. The text disappears and only comes back when I change color.
