I'm trying to upload shirt designs to jakprints and I'm using the template they provided to design the shirt. Hoever, when I save the file, only my design is left. No template.

I'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
Just updated to CC and now when I try to save over old templates it gives me an error message saying it cannot save because this template may be in use in another program...but the only program its in use in is illustrator at that moment because im making changes to it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAny ability/plug-in for illustrator cs5 to allow for creating a rhinestone template? I make custom apparel and use illustrator to create the vector artwork. When I need a design in rhinestones, I have to send out the art to have the template created (the template is the material with the holes in it where the rhinestones will be placed.) Rhinestone creation software lets you "place" the stones in the on screen design, choosing size of stone, etc. and then allows that design to be sent to a cutter to cut the holes in the template. If I could do it in-house, it would save me some money. I know there are plug ins that are compatible with CorelDraw, and there is stand alone software out there for apparel decorators, but I would rather not invest in more software if I could accomplish it in illustrator.

If I create a precast stair in default template I get "end with riser" turned on automaticaly. If I copy that stair to my template and create new stair, "end with riser" is turned off and I manually have to adjust stair afterwards.
Problem is "end with riser" is now an instance parameter of stairs and I can't find where to change the default value.
Why is the stair type that works in default template stuffed when copied to my template?

When I initally create new document under "File", I set the width to 3.5" and height 2.25" and the top, bottom, left and right bleed to .125". There wasn't an option to preset the radius of corners for the gift card. The gift card appears square in the document like a business card. How do I create the rounded corners of gift card in Adobe Illustrator CS5 (PC)? Lastly how far do I inset the dash line where text (or QR code) will be positioned? I wish to be able to save gift card document as a template for future projects.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have attached the layered image (reducing opacity so you can both template and image). The vendor provided me a flat template, not a path, to do my artwork. As you can see I need to arc the image without distorting to fit a cup template. I am more comfortable in photoshop but I can export to AI if necessary to complete which appears what I need to do via envelope distort from what I keep seeing. However, the template provided is not a path. I tried to trace template shape manually with pen tool and use envelope distort to arc my image to conform but it looked very distorted and no even close to what I was trying to achieve. I tried to do tradition arc warp in photoshop but it still seems to distort proportions.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, basically, I am DETERMINED to learn how to use gradient mesh in 5.1. I tried to do that well-known red pepper exercise (I'll provide the URL if somebody hasn't seen it.) Everything was going fine until I actually tried to use the background jpg of the pepper itself in outline mode as a template. The idea is to pick up the template colors of the pepper and then use them as gradient mesh colors. No matter how I tried to do it, that trick just would not work.
If you are working on a gradient mesh and are using image template as a guide you want to work in outline preview so you can see the underlying art to determine wht you are constructing and also it then allows you to use the eyedropper to sample the color of the actual photo so it can be translated tothe mesh and you can simply switch back to Preview mode to check your progress.
Very handy when working with gradient meshes if you are using and underlying template to translate into art.
That sounds great, but sampling the color of the photo and then actually using it on the gradent mesh points just did not seem to work for me.
What is the best/cleanest way to create letterhead artwork to be used on a Word template?
Right now I'm just creating, copying and pasting, but it seems there must be a more professional way. InDesign, or is Illustrator OK?
I created a template and placed it in the Graphic Styles folder. When I use the New command and select the new template from Graphic Styles, the Guide layer disappears. When I double click the template to open it the guides are there. Why is the guide layer getting stripped out when I use the New command? I want to avoid opening from template everytime.
The weird thing is that I had a template that was opening with guides until I made some changes to it. Now it doesn't work either.
