After editing parameters in an Inventor Assembly Template, how do I save that assembly and all related parts
with different names while keeping their associativity to one another?
We use a similar sub-assembly in almost every assembly we design. So what I would like to do is make a template from this sub-assembly that I can make adaptive, constrain to the proper parts and have it resize to the main assembly. I've been trying to do this for a few weeks now with little success.
I have seen tutorials make adaptive part templates but never adaptive assembly templates. Is this even possible?
I know you can't make individual parts adaptive to multiple assemblies without saving each part as a different file and I think that's where my problems are coming from. Even though I save the template as a different file is it still referencing the original adaptive part in my library folder? If so, is there a way I can make it not do that? I may be way off base there too I don’t know.
I am working in an Inventor Assembly .iam, I have about 250 fasteners (screws) that are constrained to a flat washer and lock washer. I would like to put them in as a single unit (sub assembly if you will) and then promote or explode them in the top level so that my bom has 250 screws, 250 washers, and 250 lock washers all at the same level, not associated to one another except thru the constraints that were entered in the original assembly. I have tried Promote but that doesn't work because it removes the washers from the original file and I end up with only 1 instance of the assembly. Am I approaching this incorrectly? Is there a better way? I run across this scenario with different components quite often.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you have created a sub assembly and inserted it into an upper level assemby, is there a way to bust up the sub assembly at that level?
The issue arising is the individual components need to be called out on the upper level, but in the drawing are all showing up as the same balloon.
When I manually add a new layout from a template, I do NOT get any extra layers, but when I use VB to do the same thing, I get extra layers.
In the original drawing, I have layers called "SHEET", "TEXT", and "VIEWPORT" (among other layers).
In the template where I get my new layout, I also have the same layer names ("SHEET", "TEXT", and "VIEWPORT").
After the new layout gets read in, I now have extra layers called "$0$SHEET", "$0$TEXT", and "$0$VIEWPORT". Why does this happen using VB, but not when I do it manually? Is there anything I can do to the code to change this? I understand the layer names are the same, but they're the same whether I do it manually or by code.

A way to save modified DVD menu layouts in X4 ? In X3 we could save a DVD menu template after it was modified, but I can't seem to find the same option in X4.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a series of shots with an incorrect EV setting ( Exposure compensation) so I used Lightroom 4.3 to modify the exposure on these jpeg files. I then exported the modified images, and found that the file size was only 50% of the original.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently upgradedfrom "Elements 2" to Version 11. I previously saved all my edited work in JPEG format and to the "My Pictures" folder. I was then able to open all modified photos and share them with another computer without resorting to any specialised program. I wish to continue to do the same using Version 11. Having made several attempts without success to save modified photos using my well tried and successful method and having read the Manual to see why the process is not successful with Version 11 I am now exteremely frustrated. Each attempt to save a modified photo results in a Thumbnail icon being loaded into the "My Pictures" folder with the elements 11 logo. I then are only able to open the photo (which incidently does not carry the modified file name from the original) by way of the elements 11 program.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to save images from one file to a final modified one. Two problems:
1) Some images are unedited and save sometimes but not always. Why?
2) Some are a combination of an original plus a transformed close-up from another image. When the finished edited image saves, it is much smaller than the few unedited images that did successfully save. Why?
The images are digital photos of my jewelry. In order to decrease the number of pages on my impending website, I am attempting to transfer, when one is available, a resized close-up to the other shot of the full set (close-ups are what sell the work!). Some of the images show 25% on the top bar but that doesn't seem to make a difference as to whether it will save or not. Others (I notice they seem to be more horizontal images) are 16.7% ? I tried to upload example images to illustrate what I am trying to do but kept getting an error message.
I have been experiencing crashes with PS 13.0.1 running on Mountain Lion. I use Portrait Professional Plugin version 2 bundles with PP 10.8.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
I Have a Template that im editting and want to save the slices but there is too many slices in the template.
How do I see the names on the slices, so that I can delete the slices that Do Not have names?
This is how I usual export slices, Is there a better way?

I was able to save this backto the library, overwriting the original. This is all good. I am unable to find out how to push this updated appearance to all parts in an assembly. I used to be able to do this with the update styles tool.

Using Inventor I have a drawing border in which tolerance values change depending on the type of fabrication to be produced. The type of fabrication (0,1,2,or 3) is designated by a custom property entered during part/fab model creation.
This property may change depending on various production factors. The issue I have is how do I get the border to recognize this potential change in fab type and populate the tolerance fields with the necessary information?
I'm trying to use assemblies when creating a corridor. The Tool Pallette is emply but I can drag the assembiles in from the Catalog. I've also created an assembly using the ASC. Neither work when I try to use them. The error message is attached.
I'm using a network installation and I do not have the option of changing it to a DVD installation.
We recently purged our part templates of unused materials and appearances because there were duplicates after our merge between our original 2012 library and 2013 library. We deleted these duplicates but retained all materials that inventor uses by default, such as the "default" material.
Creating new files causes no problems, however when opening a .STEP file Inventor immedietly crashes and exits to the desktop. We tried re-assigning the default templates that came with our install of 2013 and we can open STEP files just fine.
We tried uninstalling the latest update (Update 2 for SP1.1) but that did not change the problem.
We are using confirmed STEP files that have opened fine in the past and new STEP files that are freshly downloaded. NOTE: the same crash occurs with .SAT and .IGES files as well, however we primarliy use STEP files.
This is occuring on two seperate machines, both running Windows 7 64-Bit with i7 processors and 16 Gigabites of RAM.
I'm trying to upload shirt designs to jakprints and I'm using the template they provided to design the shirt. Hoever, when I save the file, only my design is left. No template.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of creating 3D points (as an overlay) on some laser scanned data (using RiScan, it's just 3d dimensional data, with a northing, easting and RL) and unfortunately the only export option is to export to .dxf... Which is fine but when I export, the information has the point ID as the layer name.
I am aiming at getting this data into another program to analyse and it needs the point ID or name to be my annotation, as opposed to the layer.
So what I need is a way of converting the names of each individual points layer, to the point ID.

I have 2 tanks, each one is an assembly in itself, and they have to be positioned on a steel skid, also an assembly and then interconnecting pipework between the two. My prioblem is that I can't seem to find a way to position the two tanks at a set distance from each other and in relation to the edges of the skid.
Because of this, my pipe router is going all over the place in trying to join up the two termination points.
Will the next release of Inventor have the capability to perform FEA on bolted assemblies?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn SW I was able to create assemblies that had components with limited motion and then set them as "Fllexable" and allow them to move in larger assemblies. How do I do this in Inventor? I have a trailer with both the front and rear axles able to pivot. These axle sub-assemblies are both able to pivot as top level assemblies but when they are assembled in the trailer assembly the only way I have found to allow movement is to make one axle active and move it then activate the other nad move it. This doesn't work well if there are several interdependant subassemblies that should move together. I am in Inventor 2012.

I use hinges in my door assemblies and they are basically placed into the assembly each time and become flexible so the doors can operate. The hinges are one size and don't change in any way or shape. What is the best practice for inserting these hinges into my door assemblies?
