View 3 RepliesI would like to create a master background layer that multiple pages will be built over, while retaining the ability to edit the master background layer after-the-fact which will automatically change all the subsequent pages.
Similar to how an include file would work on a webpage, ie: create the menu as an include file, then all pages that reference that include file would have their menus changed when that single include file gets modified.
Or another way of looking at it: like how headers/footers work in word, ie: change the header or footer and all pages in that document are automatically modified.
Illustrator CS6 PC.
I drew a beautiful SVG for a website, just coded it in html/css/javascript. (It's in there, just scroll around)

It needs finishing by hand ... how on earth do I open it in Illustrator?
I downloaded it as an .svg via SVG Crowbar. (That's the only way I know to extract an .svg and am happy to try your better strategies)
.When I ask Adobe File -> Open -> and choose it, Adobe says "can't open illustration."
Fwiw, Reader error is "could not open graph.svg bc it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged, for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded"
Inkscape will open graph.svg, no problem. But I was hoping to try out Illustrator.
im trying to parse a CSV file and output XML for Illustrator;

A customer sent us their label in an AI file. Trying to print this onto a 3 x 1 label (which is small), the output looks pixelated. Looks like the whole thing is a graphic rather than text.
I have attached an image of the label as an example. **Please note that the label is copyrighted. Please do not re-distribute or otherwise print.**
I am just trying to save a PDF from my illustrator file. However, when I go to Save as, and select PDF, no dialog box opens to allow me to set how I want the file outputted. IF I just hit enter, the file does save.. its just like the Dialog box is hidden or not appearing. The reason I need the dialog box is because I need to add bleeds to the PDF and my default save doesn't do that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am making a holiday greeting card. I have 16 very larged photo images "linked" (not embedded) into the card. The original images are very large (e.g. 4500 x 3000 px, 10mb) but I've placed them fairly small in the final card (only about 2" x 2" printed). Therefore, I likely don't need the full resolution of the original photos. I need to generate a final file that I can send to an online print shop, something that is ideally 10-25Mb in size, probably pdf. How to prepare the final file for export to pdf to generate as such? Right now, the final file is 275Mb because it is embedding the full size of each of the 16 images.
I'm on Illustrator CS6 on Mac.
I have a .html template for a squeeze page with many images. I also have the .psd file
How can I cut the psd file to use it in the html? I guess it should be with the slice tool? In the html there are many images, not just one...
I have changed some images on the PSD template but when i save it as webpage it save it just as a picture, i can not change text on it after that, since its an image.
Can you please tell how to save it after editing images, so tht it will look like HTML file and how i can edit some text on it after i save ?
I am trying to determine the best approach to use to convert several psd files into html. I know I can slice the image up, using PS or ImageReady, but here are my questions:
The PSD files make up my entire site. My home page is a PSD, as is every other page. But each page has common elements. For example, my logo is the same, and it is in the same place on each page. I also have links that are common to all pages. If I slice up the first page, how can I be sure that I have sliced the second and subsequent pages the same way so I only can use 1 logo image for my site?
Is there a way to save the slice layout of one page and then import it into another page? That way, I would have precisely the same layout of the slices.
Does this make any sense, or is there a far better way to take a PSD and convert it to html?
Want to open a html -file in GIMP . Is this possible!? IF so - how?

How do I take a large PDF, which has an index, linking to subsequent pages, into a similar thing in HTML, be it a single large HTML file with anchors and links, or several smaller HTML files, all linked to from the index file?
I have done all my slicing, naming them, checked that all naming conventions are fine, ready to save it for web, and
1) Do I select all slices and save?
2)Why there is not at save as HTML option in save as?
3) Do I save it as SVG?
4) Do I export the whole document as CSS and open it in Dreamweaver?
5)How do I 'visualize' the CSS in Dreamweaver?
here is the screen shot of the PSD which i converted into HTML. It is done with Slice select too. and i got this kind of error in output. so i want a way by which i can transform my psd designs the same way they look in to working website. the template goes other places

still I try to reopen the issue about an error of "Edge Animate could not find the associated html file" for me, this error remains even after opening and saving corresponding html file. in fact I don't remember any successful launch of .an file for all my projects working at win 7, 64 bit
I had an action set up in CS5 that I used to create different size versions of a file.It involved pasting a full size image into PS, then running the action to create two smaller sizes.
I updated to CS6 today, lost my action , and whenever I create the same action in CS6 instead of overwriting the existing set of .jpgs in the target folder, it's creating html files!
I created a rollover efect with IR with some fotos and get html file and slices...how to place it in the free cell in Dreamweaver on my page?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI made several projects using Edge Animate 1.0, all of them worked perfectly. But now I need to make some changes, and several of them are displaying an error saying that could not find the html file associated with the project, even though the file is right at the same folder. I opened the .an file in a text editor and checked that the HTMLFileName attribute is pointing to the correct file. I'm attaching a print screen of the error.

I have made a click able image in CS6 but when I save it to my computer as a GIF, I'm not able to click on it. I'm saving the file as an "Image" and not using "HTML and Images" as I can't find a way to place HTML files on my website.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI inherited a document (yes, you heard correctly) that was designed in Adobe Illustrator (I have the CC version). This is a 10 page document with a lot of text and fake tables. Why the original author used AI for this document but now, I wish to convert this document into a more appropriate tool.
I don't know, perhaps I shouldn't be surprized that AI doesn't have much in the way of text based exports (except PDF and pure text)... PDF isn't ideal because it outputs blocks that are out of order, making it difficult to copy and paste into another editor.
Ideally, my preference is either HTML, MS Word, FrameMaker, Robohelp, CHM, or Dita. Is there a super-secret method to export an AI document into one of those formats?
I'm trying to export an image map from Illustrator CS6. However I can't get it to save the HTML.
I've setup my hotspots etc. However when I do "Save for Web", there is no option to save "Images & HTML". It only gives me the option of "Image Only".
The only way I've been able to get the HTML is to click on "Preview" from the "Save for Web" screen, and then copy and paste the image map code from there.
I've also tested it with slices, and same thing. There just seems to be no way to get it to generate a HTML file.
Is there some other way I'm supposed to get it to create the HTML?
